Hair: P'rin's black hair is just starting to be touched by gray. It's long enough to brush his shoulders, and stick straight. He doesn't usually do anything special with it, just combing it so that it's parted in the center.
Height: 6'2"
General Appearance: P'rin Is about average height and weight. He has a long and angular heart-shaped face with very dark, short eyebrows. His hair is as black as the bottom of a mine, touched with threads of silvery-gray. He has a short, thick beard that's got almost as much gray in it as black.
He is not as fit as he once was, having put on a little weight in recent years. He has a slight limp from an old injury that causes stiffness in his right knee. His teeth are crooked and uneven with a noticeable yellow tint.
Dressing Style: P'rin typically wears comfortable, casual clothing that can stand up to hard work. His pants are usually dark, heavy-duty canvas and his shirts are comfortable. His riding leathers are simple and well-kept, but warn from years of use.
![[Image: t3GcK3P.jpg]](https://imgur.com/t3GcK3P.jpg)
Habits/Mannerisms: P'rin can usually be found either plucking at a guitar or whittling a toy for one of the weyr's kids. He spends most of his time with his dragon and usually has a toothpick tucked into the corner of his mouth where he's been chewing on it.
Opinions:
Threadfall Theory: We have records stating that it happened. Why would dragons have survived if it weren't going to happen again? We need to be prepared and I'll make sure we are if it kills me!
Stealing/Kidnapping: It was a necessary evil. We sure wouldn't have had enough candidates, otherwise.
Weryrleader S'kef: Damned jumped up brownrider. He had no business sticking his nose into the running of the Weyr. His dragon could only ever catch a baby gold that's as horny as a fucking green, so a coup is the only way he ever could have taken over like that.
Firelizards: Firelizards are about as useful as tits on a boar hog. At least they don't stink as bad as some critters do. Just keep them away from me and Davrath.
Women's loss of honourifics: If they're gonna fly Thread like the rest of us, they should have names that are easy to shout like the rest of us. I, for one, would rather yell orders to a B'ka instead of waste time shouting at Breakaly.
Return North: It's about damned time! The North has been without dragon protection for far too long and we'd have to go back sooner or later, anyway. Thread is coming!

Likes:
Music: P'rin wanted to be a Harper when he was a child. Though he was sent to learn to be a Smith instead, he never lost his passion for music and learned to play guitar shortly after graduating from weyrlinghood.

Dislikes:
Women on fighting dragons: While P'rin agrees that women can (and should) ride gold, he doesn't really approve of having women on the Sands when a clutch doesn't contain a gold egg. He doesn't like the idea of having to watch out for women riding greens during a Fall. He doesn't like the idea of potentially pregnant women having to go between and terminating the pregnancy, intentionally or not. Yes, he understands the need for it with candidates (no one could possibly keep up with both a newborn/infant and a newly hatched dragonet), but he still doesn't approve.
Dislike 2:
Dislike 3:
Strengths:
Paternal: P'rin looks at most of the Weyr as though they are his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren. He feels responsible for how they behave outside of the Weyr and is proud of their victories.
Strength 2:
Strength 3:
Flaws:
Alcoholic: P'rin has developed a dependency on alcohol. He is unable to fully function if he does not have at least one large size serving of alcohol every 12 hours. His drink of choice is a strong brown ale, but anything will do in a pinch.
Singing: While P'rin enjoys singing and is a reasonable musician with the guitar, he is completely tone-deaf when it comes to singing. As his children are fond of saying, he can't carry a tune in a bucket!

Background Story:
657 & 0: Panarin is born. And thank Faranth he's a boy because his father didn't think he could stand it if both of his first born children were girls! Their mother died in childbirth and the babies were fostered by their maternal aunt while thier father returned to advancing in his craft.
659 & 2: Panarin's father remarried and took his children back. Their new step-mother gave birth before the end of the year and they had a younger brother.
662 & 5: Another brother was born.
663 & 6: Panarin and his sister started formal schooling with the journeyman posted to Graystones Hold. Panarin fell in love with music and stories. His twin was determined that she wanted to become a Miner like thier father.
664 & 7: Panarin's twin was killed in a mining accident when she snuck somewhere she did not belong.
665 & 8: Another brother was born to Panarin's father and step-mother. The second-born of his half brothers, then three, caught a serious winter illness and died before the end of the year.
669 & 12: While Panarin wanted to become a Harper, it was determined by his teachers that he wasn't a good enough student. Since his father did not want to risk him dying in a mining accident like his sister, he was instead sent to Telgar to join the SmithCraft. A sister was born after he left home.
670 & 13: Panarin's youngest sister was born barely 11 months after the last.
672 & 15: Panarin was searched for a clutch at Telgar Weyr. He did not Impress and returned to the SmithCraft to continue his studies.
673-682 & 16-25: Panarin spent the next few years between various Weyrs as a candidate and the Smith Craft Hall at Telgar, learning his craft.
677 & 20: While a candidate at Igen Weyr, Panarin got caught up in the aftermath of a green's flight and got one of the weyrgirls pregnant. He left before she started showing. The baby was born at the end of the year.
683 & 26: Panarin Impressed bronze Davrath on the sands of Benden Weyr.
684 & 27: Panarin got another girl pregnant. A daughter was born toward the end of the year. He did not have much to do with the child.
685 & 28: Panarin and Davrath graduated. Panarin became P'rin.
689 & 32: P'rin began learning to play guitar.
712 & 55: P'rin met Tamia, a seamstress at the Weyr. They become very close. He invites her to move into his weyr near the end of the year.
713 & 56: P'rin and Tamia's daughter Rinia is born. While P'rin had other, older children, Rinia is the first he really took an interest in.
715 & 58: The plague hit. Many of P'rin's friends died, including every other dragon from Davrath's clutch. Tamia gets pregnant again.
716 & 59: P'rin's son Tarin is born. He heard of the plan to evacuate healthy dragons south so took his family along with Tamia's brother and sister into isolation. He made the straight flight alone, first, then went back twice by going between to get supplies and bring everyone to the small inlet he picked for their new home. Tarin and Romlad (Tamia's brother) caught a fever. The baby died when he was just six months old. Romlad died a week later.
717 & 60: P'rin and Tamia's third child was born and died just days after birth, before she was ever named.
719 & 62: P'rin and Tamia's fourth child was born. He was named Ratnin.
720 & 63: Davrath heard the call of Nirinath to come back together and begged P'rin to join the other riders. It took a few weeks to convince P'rin to rejoin the other riders, but they did join the new Weyr.
724 & 67: P'rin and Tamia's fifth child was born. She was named Anatia.
725 & 68: P'rin and Tamia's hut was among those needing to be rebuilt after the storm destroyed Katila.
727 & 70: P'rin does not approve of abducting candidates without their consent, but agrees that hatchlings need a choice and that journeymen are good for the Weyr as a whole.
729 & 72: P'rin and Tamia's youngest is born. He was named Nirta.
732 & 75: P'rin was terrified when firelizards were rediscovered and forbade all of his children from going near them. His first acknowledged grandchild was born. He was angry when S'kef became Acting Weyrleader. No brownrider should lead the Weyr! P'rin debated many long hours with Tamia about moving back to their little home when they first arrived South. Tamia won the argument, as usual.
734 & 77: P'rin's life was completely upended when the landslide hit. The family had been celebrating the hatching with everyone else, only to be mourning the deaths of both Rinia and Tamia hours later. It took a full week for him to give up on them. He took his grandson in since both his of his parents were killed in the landslide. His remaining children and grandson are the only reasons he did not join Tamia between when they finally found her body.
735 & 78: P'rin eagerly moved north to Telgar Weyr when the rest of the riders returned to the North. He needed to leave Katila and the memories of the loss there behind.
736 & 79: When Ista and Fort Weyrs were opened, P'rin requested a transfer to Ista to give his children and grandson an environment closer to the home they still missed.

Name Pronounced: DAV-rath

Wing Assigned: TBD
Wing Rank: Wingrider
Hatching Date: 16.06.683 AL
Birthing Weyr: Benden
Home Weyr: Ista
Clutch Name: Broken Chains
Clutch Mother: Pirloth
Clutch Father: Sanianth
Appearance:
Length: 28.1'
Height: 13.8'
Wingspan: 44.6'
Scars & Markings: Davrath has a bright, brassy patch under his chin on his throat.
Weyrlinghood: Davrath was a very stocky dragonet. His bronze hide was particularly shiny in direct sunlight and had a bright brassy undertone. Under his chin was a bright brassy spot that sometimes managed to have a faint green tint.
Adulthood: As he aged, Davrath's brassy bronze hide has faded into more of a darker coppery tone. The brassy spot on his throat shrank after he gained his adult coloration, but is still very bright and prominant. His legs are still stocky, but his wings are overly large for his frame, which makes him more maneuverable than the average bronze. He's not the smallest bronze of his generation, but he's still noticeably smaller than bronzes hatched after the plague nearly wiped out dragonkind.
Mindvoice: Davrath's voice is almost... musical. It's an even mid-tone that is pleasant to listen to, though he tends to use more formal language than most.
General Character Traits: A bronze of few words, when he does speak, Davrath expects to be listened to. Most of the time, his "wisdom" is just cliches that he's picked up from harpers over the years. Davrath has a very dry sense of humor that most people, including his own person, don't often understand, and he thinks he's funnier than he actually is.
He's very protective and ambitious. While he caught a few younger queens when he was young, before the plague, he never caught a sr. queen and was always disappointed in himself because of that. He has often offered to bite people for bullying those he thinks of as belonging to P'rin, though he has not mentioned this offer where anyone other than P'rin could hear since he was a dragonet.
When he wins a mating flight, he enjoys spending up to three days curled up with his female, nuzzling and cuddling. He is known to hunt for her, or at least share his prey with her, if she is willing.
Habits/Mannerisms: Davrath amuses himself by offering to bite people for his bonded on behalf of those he considers family. The tip of his tail is usually twitching back and forth, no matter how still the rest of him is.

As usual, bronze Davrath is among the last group, and with him is, as always, P'rin. The old dragon is sprawled out on the beach, his wings spread to catch as much of the soon setting sun as possible and providing a convenient shady spot for the old man to relax, leaning against his dragon's side. A soft melody drifts on the breeze from the guitar in his arms.
While the gentle notes from the guitar might be pleasing to most, the quiet humming clashes completely. It's a... striking combination and one likely to drive any others off the beach.
