Month 05, 741 AL

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself uncommonly warm (~12C / 53.6) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future.

December 2017

And so it is December! Can’t believe how fast this year is flying by! At any rate, we have LOTS of fun for you this month! For starters, why don’t you sign up for our Secret Santa Event! Pairs will be assigned on the 14th! You can sign your character(s) up as a Giver, a Receiver or Both! We also hope that you enjoy our Christmas layout, which will be available for use for the entire month of December! After that, it will go into hiding until next Christmas!

We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!

This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!

November 2017

Welcome to November! We'd love it if you would take the time to Vote in our Horrifying Moments threads! We will also be awarding Stamps for people who vote, not just those who took part! We hope you enjoyed this event as much as we did! You can see the Stamps that will be awarded in the Horrifying Moment's thread.

This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!

October 2017

Welcome to October! As part of our Halloween celebrations, the Horrifying Moments event is now open! You may START a thread at any point during the month of October to qualify it for the event! We hope you have a lot of fun with this event, and we look forward to reading your threads! Don't forget to "Like" the threads you enjoy most, so we can award someone the MOST HORRIFYING stamp! Stamps will be revealed later in the month!

September 2017

Welcome to September! This month, we're working on our Awards for the site! We are also advertising avidly! Please welcome any guests or new members with all that warm charm we know you all posess! That said, we are still seeking Affiliates, so if you're here to drop an ad, please consider us!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

Mylorah loved dancing and she never cared if she was the first or only one on the floor. For one thing, it would be plain rude to ignore the work of the Harpers, providing them with such lovely music. She had to show her appreciation by letting the music consume her and sway and twirl as she desired. That was what she was doing, using it as an excuse to leave T’ryn alone with Madiquel’s super cute friend, Vaera. Madiquel seemed to think there was something there to encourage the two to talk more and while Mylorah wasn’t sure T’ryn was into the idea, she did see some sort of sparkle in Vaera’s eyes. Considering her brother was pretty darn hot and she was a sheltered Holder, it was understandable where that building lust was aimed.

So Mylorah seized the opportunity of a fun song being played to excuse herself and started twirling to the beat, laughing as she did, and not at all caring if she was being stared at. In fact, she hoped she was. Let everyone see how much fun she was having! They were clearly missing out. When the song ended, she applauded enthusiastically and waited to see what they would play next. Another great song, of course! Really, were there any bad songs? This one was a bit slower, though, but Mylorah still swayed to the beat, humming along as she moved.

When she was slowly moving in a circle, perhaps imagining a partner with her, she saw a familiar blonde head not too far off. “Mimi!” She called out, as was tradition, and took off running to her friend to give him a big hug. “Come dance and tell me about all the fun things I know you’ve already done today!” Not giving him any other option but to follow, Mylorah dragged him back to the dance floor and draped her arms around his neck, grinning up at him. How she had missed her bestie! She was so excited he was moving back to Ista for a bit for Thallyath’s clutch and looked forward to all the gossip sessions they would have again.

Misharan did eventually leave C’dhin to his own devices for a while. Ceiry had decided she wanted to spend some time with her dad (Misha suspected it was at least partially a ploy to get more gifts out if it, but he totally would do the same), and Misharan had decided that was his cue to step out for a while and bug someone else.

He’d integrated himself with a group of Candidates who were wandering around, the Searched ones showing the fascinated ‘brats among them all the weird Holder things. Lots of outlandish stories were being told about Hold life, and Misha couldn’t resist joining in, seeing what they could get the Weyrbrats to believe (the answer was a lot, apparently, thought some of them were more skeptical).

They were passing an open area that had been set aside for dancing, a small wooden stage set up for Harpers at one end and a large area full of tables and chairs where people could sit down and eat all the food the bought or just sit and hang out right next to it, when Misharan heard a familiar voice call out for him. Seconds later he was hugging his best friend, picking her up with the hug just a little. “Mymy!” he said fondly, letting her drag him wherever she wanted with no resistance. He let his hands drop to her waist in the general form for dancing, though he let her lead, following with her as she spun around the dance floor. It didn’t take long to give her the rundown of his day so far, and of course asked after details of her own. As easy as it was to get between Weyrs, when there was no rapidly approaching Hatching that had them both in the same Weyr, he didn’t see Mylorah near often enough. It was a great tragedy, really, and Misharan had more than once considered transferring to Ista properly, even if he did have a couple very good reasons to stay in Telgar.

"So you and C'dhin are spending a lot of time together," Mylorah teased instead of talking about her day. She'd get to that too but first she had to get in a few ribbings about her friend spending time with their delicious greenrider. "I don't blame you one bit. He's so much fun and quite cute. I had a lot of fun when he was teaching me how not to burn cookies. But I bet neither of you are about to settle down, which I both love and hate. I'm glad you're not abandoning me for a life of cozy mate times but you also deserve to have that cozy mate time when you want it." She never made it a secret that she was not at all about that life but she didn't begrudge anyone that wanted it either. Some people were made for that level of trust and love and she didn't think she was. Misharan, however, could be when he was ready for it but she knew he was having far too much fun as a free agent.

She spun herself around before draping against Misharan once more. She loved how at ease they were with each other and that he didn't find her antics weird but seemed to encourage them. "And my day has had a fun start! I got to see Madiquel and her super cute friend Vaera whom, by the way, Madiquel seems to have silently decided should be dating T'ryn. She kept staring at him when we arrived and she seems sweet so I'm all for the matchmaking, but I bet you anything my brother won't be into it. He's so weird about dating now." Casa had broken T'ryn's heart. as did N'mor, though Mylorah still didn't know the full story with the bronze boys. She was kind of annoyed that her attempt to bring them back together with that letter she found didn't work but neither would talk about that either. She wasn't even sure she could blame N'mor for it since T'ryn was noble enough to turn down a second chance because Z'rin was now in the picture. It was hard to figure out but she couldn't stay angry at any of them, especially with how much of a sweet puppy Z'rin could be and he obviously loved N'mor with all his heart.

"So I found a chance to excuse myself from the awkward possibly couple by the end of the day so they could be alone together. Madi wandered off with A'tay as well so we'll see if either of those pairs kiss by nightfall!" Mylorah laughed at the idea, knowing her brothers far too well to believe either would make that sort of move.

When the song ended, she once again applauded enthusiastically, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she did so. She loved music! She loved Harpers! Katila had both, of course, and she adored the Harpers that had taught her to read and performed at their celebrations, but having such a wide variety of talents to enjoy constantly blew her mind. They all had their own unique sound and style and she couldn't stop showing her appreciation for each one.

“I guess, yeah,” Misha said with a laugh, gently swaying along with the music. “You and my other favorite people are all so far away at Ista, it’s very easy to be lazy and just go a few floors to see a wonderful person instead of hopping Weyrs. I know if I asked C’dhin would be happy to go to Ista with me, but I, uh, tend to get distracted. And if something’s baking you can’t go anywhere until it’s done!” C’dhin was actually pretty good at not letting Misharan showing up and begging for attention ruin whatever food he was working on, which Misha felt was deeply impressive and showed a lot of restraint and dedication for his craft.

“And never you fret, Mymy, even if I do eventually go in for cozy mate times, I’ll never abandon you,” he reassured her, pressing a kiss to her forehead. Misha meant it, too. To Misharan’s mind, there was nothing that said he couldn’t have a mate and still sleep around as he pleased. Or even multiple mates and still sleep around. As far as he understood it, ‘mate’ just meant you had more of a defined emotional romantic attachment to someone. You could have that with multiple people, and still have less emotionally significant relationships with other people (also called sleeping around). He didn’t think he could be the only person who thought that way.

He let go of Mylorah so she could complete her spin, pulling her back in when she leaned against him. “I’m so glad Madiquel is doing well! I may have to see if I can track her down to say hi later. Though if she’s with A’tay maybe not,” Misharan wasn’t entirely sure where those two stood with each other but they definitely seemed like they should be kissing. “I’ll have to meet this Vaera, since you seem to approve of her. Best of luck to her with T’ryn. He needs a good date or two to get out of his head, I think. Would be good for him. Low-stress kissing.” He grinned at Mylorah, lifting her an inch and spinning them both around before he continued.

“If the initiative for kissing is left to your brothers, everyone will go home un-kissed.” Misha agreed, nodding sadly. It was tragic for everyone involved. Maybe Madiquel or this new girl, Vaera, would show more bravery than A’tay or T’ryn. Probably not, especially considering Vaera was from a Hall.

At the end of the song Misharan joined Mylorah in clapping enthusiastically. Music and dancing were fun, and the Harpers Telgar had employed for the Gather really were quite talented. Not that Misha was a trained ear or anything, but he thought they sounded good.

“Will I be staying for another dance, or have I had my turn and you’ll be off to find another, less pretty, dance partner?” he teased, resting his cheek against her head.

“I’m afraid you’re stuck with me for at least one more song. Then we’ll see who has the wandering eye first and go from there!” Mylorah knew them both too well to assume they would be able to keep each other occupied for long. Someone would catch their eye and they’d be off trying their best lines on them. Honestly, she currently wasn’t looking for a hook up, just dance partners, but that could change by the end of the night if the right person came along.

When the Harpers started up again, this time a jaunty tune made for dancing and without singing, Mylorah grabbed Misharan’s hand and started swinging it as she moved to the music. She liked being so free and didn’t care one bit if she knew the proper dances that seemed to be taught to holders of if anyone judged her for what she was doing instead. She was having fun and she’d stick her tongue out at anyone who said it was wrong.

“Still think you should just move to Ista, Mimi. Kordi would agree with me. He’s around here somewhere, by the way. He took off as soon as Syrendryth landed. Probably didn’t want to be surrounded by a gaggle of squealing girls… though he’s probably still attracting attention wherever he’s hiding,” Mylorah laughed, loving that their friend was gorgeous and while he knew it and would use it for his advantage if he wanted to; he hated the extra attention. If Kordiavis didn’t judge you as worthy, he didn’t want you fawning all over him as he sure wasn’t going to return it. How she, Misharan, and T’ryn passed his test, she wasn’t quite sure.

“But please consider it! Even if your sexy greenrider would still be in Telgar. I’d move there but I can’t Stand for all the Hatchings like I can at Ista.” She didn’t have her heart set on any one colour, having decided a dragon of any colour would be amazing and she felt she could handle green, gold, or even blue. No matter what colour she landed on, there would always be comments and people judging her and her actions. At Ista, she had a chance for anything. Anywhere else and that chance would only come if a gold egg appeared on the Sands. Although she could still sit in the crowd and have a chance at Impressing, she supposed. Unless they barred her entry and kept her across the Weyr or something crazy. “Besides, it’s too cold for my tastes. I need the heat and beaches.”

“I suppose I can manage another song,” Misha said with a dramatic and completely fake sigh, happily following Mylorah into the new, faster song. This one was a little harder to talk during, since it took more energy to keep up with the music, but he and Mylorah managed.

“Now, I have the opposite problem from you,” he said, spinning her around, “I melt in Ista summers. Last turn was honestly only tolerable because of you and Kordi, I would have gone back to Telgar immediately after the Hatching otherwise. The true reason I stay in Telgar,” Misharan laughed, “every other Weyr is too far south. Maybe I could stay in Ista for the winters and Telgar for the summers. You think the Weyrleaders would tolerate all that paperwork?” No chance, Misha thought. Unless they could come up with a way to minimize the paperwork, maybe only do it once and set up what the rules are.

Misharan sighed, not really sure what else to say. It was complicated, and he wasn’t even sure himself why he wanted to stay in Telgar so much. Was he just lazy? Because he really did miss Mylorah and Kordiavis something dreadful.

“You said you got Kordi here?” he asked, confirming the fact with Mylorah. “I’ll have to track him down. Been too long since I saw his pretty face.” Okay, it was probably only a few weeks, but still. Too much time to pass between seeing one of the people he loved most.

“Then I guess we are doomed to suffer. A tragic love affair separated by land and sea,” Mylorah pouted, jutting her lower lip out almost comically to prove just how oh-so-serious the dilemma was and placed the back of her hand to her forehead as if she was about to swoon from it all. Then she laughed and shook her head at the issue. “We’ve survived this long travelling back and forth so I guess we’ll keep on doing so. But fingers will still be crossed that you Impress in Ista!” She stuck her tongue out at Misharan and danced a bit away from him as she laughed.

“And yes, Kordi is here somewhere,” she replied when she danced back into reach of her friend. “You just have to find him. He could be hiding somewhere with some Lord or another he probably knows.” It was still weird to think Kordiavis grew up beside the Ista heir and possibly got to spend time with other young Lords when they weren’t being all official and boring. Or maybe he hid when they were around visiting Ista since he hated people talking about his mom and wouldn’t want to hear their comments about the crazy woman Lord Ista had so kindly taken in.

Mylorah applauded when the song ended and she fanned herself with her hand. That dance had taken it out of her and she knew she needed to take a small break to get some water. She wanted to keep on dancing with Misharan but he would get antsy soon enough and want to find more friends that he couldn’t see regularly. “Go find Kordi, if you can. I would bet some marks that he would convince you to move to Ista but Telgar has the three Cs. C’dhin, cookies, and …cold!” She gave Misharan a wicked grin, knowing he’d catch on to what that other C-word could have been if they weren’t surround by holders.

“But truthfully, get out of here. I’m going to take a break and have some water. You go mingle and take good mental notes because you’re telling me all about it in a few days when we get together again.”

“The Harpers will write ballads about us,” Misharan nodded seriously. He broke into a grin at the some moment Mylorah started laughing, and made an exaggerated face at her when she stuck out her tongue. “You never know, maybe you’ll Impress at Telgar. Or we’ll both Impress at Fort!” Misha laughed, winking at her. “Either place, I’m sure you’ll find ways to stay warm in our cold, cold winters.”

He grabbed her hands again when she graciously returned to him, moving their joined hands back and forth along with the music as they picked the conversation back up. “I’ll have to go on an adventure to find him, then. Track the elusive Kordiavis and entice him into hugs.” Really, Misharan would be all for more than hugs, but they were all trying to be good and not completely scandalous today, as tragic as that was.

When the song ended, Misharan again applauded with Mylorah, and he would have continued on to the next song but Mylorah seemed to be ready for a break, fanning herself and breathing heavily. She had been dancing quite a while, from what Misha could tell, and as fun as dancing was it was also tiring.

“Technically, neither of you need to convince me of anything, I’ll be in Ista within a week for the Hatching,” Misha teased, though they both knew that wasn’t going to be a permanent arrangement. Unless he happened to Impress, in which case he’d be stuck in Ista for a while, if not stay there permanently. Oh, he should ask Kordi if his Candidate room had an open bed, he could stay there for the Hatching. That would be fun.

“Hmn, I suppose Ista has one and a half of those Cs. There are cookies, they just aren’t baked by a very talented greenrider. An unfortunate flaw. And it does have that third one.” He laughed, knowing anyone who overheard would be very confused, considering they’d just talked about how Ista wasn’t cold enough. The secret third C.

Misha gave Mylo a quick kiss on the forehead, thanking her for the excellent dances and her marvelous presence. “You’ve earned a nice break, you’ve out-danced everyone else here. Maybe I’ll run into you later, we’ll see how the evening progresses. I promise I will tell you absolutely everything, and I’ll want all your stories too,” he said, knowing Mylorah was guaranteed to get a number of excellent new stories before the night was done. “Cheers, dear, I have a Kordi to find.” Misharan waved farewell to her, then looked around the area, trying to decide which direction he was most likely to find his favorite reluctantly social Candidate.
