Ista Isle is amused by the weaklings of Benden, but at least their heat is dry. Benden is muggy and riddled with heavy thunderstorms and downpours.

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

Oh no.

Oh no no no no no.

How could she have lost it? She just had it, she knew she did! He was going to kill her if she couldn’t find it. Mylorah knew she had left the book on the table with her bag of bathing supplies sitting on top of it. The plan had been to grab something to eat, return the book to Kordiavis, and then go bathe before relaxing for the rest of the night. That plan now seemed to involve searching for the book she knew was there when she sat down earlier. It was still there when she went up to grab some dessert, but somewhere between eating the sweets, saying bye to Casa when she left the table, and finishing up a conversation with another girl that soon left, the book grew legs and walked off as well.

She dumped the bag of supplies out, knowing how silly it was to do. The bag wasn’t large enough to fit the book in but it made her feel better to be thorough in her search. When it predictably came up empty, everything was stuffed back in, perhaps a bit more forcibly than necessary. Determined to find it, Mylorah dropped to her hands and knees and started looking under the table. Since it was near the end of dinner, the cavern was nearly deserted. Not that it would have mattered if every seat was still occupied; Mylorah was on a mission and she wouldn’t be stopped.

“Ew! Do people not have manners or hand-eye coordination anymore?” Mylorah frowned at the pieces of food on the floor, seriously concerned for her fellow diners that didn’t seem able to guide a fork full of food to their mouth. Seeing the mess down there, she reconsidered actually crawling all the way under and down the length of the long table but instead only moved forward enough that she was about half under, gaze sweeping across the floor for even a sheet of paper that may have come loose and been kicked.

Misharan really loved the communal dining halls of the Weyrs. It made it much easier to make new friends or run into old ones, and honestly eating was more fun when you weren’t alone. He’d been eating with a few Candidates he knew from Fort, catching up with them on what they’d all been up to since the last Hatching. The last of them had just left dinner, however, and Misharan wasn’t quite ready to leave. Going back to the crowded barracks wasn’t appealing just yet, so he got up for some more dessert. Might as well put the time to good use!

On his way back, plate piled high with goodies, he noticed someone part of the way under a table. He frowned at the figure, wondering why they were down there. The dress was familiar, and he realized it was one Mylorah had worn a few weeks ago. Presumably that meant the person under the table was Mylorah herself, unless she was in the habit of sharing her clothing. Misharan grinned, not at all sure what she was doing but glad he still had someone to talk to in the dining hall.

“Now, I’m not an expert at identifying people by their asses, but I’m pretty sure that’s you, Mylo.” He said, crouching down to see her better. “What are you doing down there? I promise the food up here is better than whatever’s down there.” Honestly, did someone get into a food fight he missed? Everyone decided to give the people who had to clean the place extra work tonight? Cause he could have sworn this wasn’t the creche.

She hadn’t expected anyone to pay attention to her on the ground, though perhaps she should have since it was a bit of an odd sight. As it was, she jumped a bit with a squeak of surprise and then laughed at what Misharan said. “Don’t sell yourself short, Misha, you’re definitely an expert.”

Crawling back out, Mylorah sat back on her heels and pouted at him. “The dessert was good but not good enough that I want to eat it off the floor. No, I…” she hated confessing to her bouts of being a complete scatter-brain at times. T’ryn had actually gifted her a small pocket book some time ago to write down important things so she wouldn’t forget. She was getting better but it was still nice to have the reminder on hand for the times she was distracted with something fun when something boring waited for her.

“I misplaced a book I swear I had with me when I came in. You’d think I would hear it fall but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t down here before moving on to my next option.” Not that she had a next option just yet. If it wasn’t on the floor, then she supposed the only other option was someone took it. That made Mylorah frown again, wondering why someone would steal an item from her.

The squeak Mylorah made had Misharan concerned for a moment she’d jumped and hit her head on the underside of the table. Thankfully, that didn’t seem to be the case. “Hmn, maybe Journeyman, then.” He said, chuckling along with her. Imagine if he really could identify everyone he knew by the ass alone. That would be a real talent.

He listened to her explanation, nodding. Sometimes things just seemed to run away from you, even when there was no way they should have moved. Misharan lost shit all the time like that.

“Sounds like a pain.” He said, offering Mylorah a hand to make it easier for her to stand up. “I’ll help you look, if you like.” Not that Misharan would be great assistance, considering his own propensity for losing things. He’d become even more of a hoarder after moving to the Weyr, and keeping track of everything was too much bother. Just chuck it in a box or a sack and hope you can find it when you need it. But hey, two sets of eyes was better than one, so it couldn’t hurt for him to help. “You didn’t take it up to get food with you, maybe?”

Mylorah smiled and took the offered hand to help get her back on her feet. She was about to dust herself off when she saw the plate full of goodies and her eyes lit up. Since she had been crawling on the ground, her hands were wiped on her dress – which really wasn’t a proper substitute for soap and water but the illusion was good enough for now – and cheekily grabbed one of the sweets. She bit into it with a grin, savouring the taste a moment before popping the rest in her mouth.

“Nah,” she replied with her mouth full as she flopped back down on the bench. “I would have left it with my bag since I’d need both hands to carry the plates of food.” She was surprisingly skinny for the amount of food she could pack away but everything was always so good that she hated to limit herself to only one thing or smaller portions. She was active enough that it all balanced out in the end so she wasn’t worried.

“I’m starting to think someone took it, which seriously sucks, but maybe it was a friend playing a prank so I’ll have to think about who I was sitting with and go see them.” Out of the few she was with, Casa seemed the most likely candidate for such a stunt. She was playful and a bit mischievous so it wouldn’t surprise her. Then again, it could have been someone just walking by. She’d start with the goldrider then move to the people she had eaten with and then go from there.

First, though, she eyed the plate of yummy treats and grinned wickedly at Misharan as she jumped back to her feet. She grabbed her bag of bathing supplies in one hand and looped the other through her friend’s arm. “In the meantime, you can come keep me company in the bath. I’m going to be so sad if you don’t Impress here and return to Telgar.” She really liked a lot of the Candidates from the other Weyrs and would miss them when the hatching was over. Mylorah was keeping her hopes up that a majority of them would Impress which would tie them to Ista for a while. Then again, her luck would see a gold egg appear at Fort or Telgar, she’d be sent there, and Impress the silly thing away from all her friends.

“Your plate of treats is also invited to come along. Unfortunately I don’t have any wine to complete this lovely evening bath with you but we’ll make do,” Mylorah smiled and gave a little tug on his arm to encourage him to get moving. It never occurred to her that Misharan might be uncomfortable with the idea of getting naked with her; she was open with her friends and didn’t think it odd to strip down and soak in a hot pool of water together.

“I see.” Misharan said, watching Mylorah steal one of his desserts with a bemused expression. Good thing he got an excessive amount of sweets. Like Mylorah, he had the convenient ability to eat a lot and not really look it. The lucky mix of activity and inheriting it from parents. He frowned at her worry someone had taken it.

“That’s rather mean of whoever it is, isn’t it? Was it that good of a book? Or did someone just feel like being a dick today?” He grabbed something off his plate and taking a bite out of it — couldn’t let Mylo be alone in eating, now could he? Holding the treat in one hand and the plate in the other, he angled it towards Mylorah, offering her more off it if she wanted. Having stuff stolen meant you got extra dessert, those were just the rules. “Even if it was a friend playing a prank, you seem pretty worried about that book. You don’t take actually important shit as part of prank, that’s one of the rules of keeping pranks fun.” Misharan had very specific rules about pranks. He’d grown up with four brothers in a small household after all, there had to be some ground rules or it would have been utter chaos. And one of them was you only fucked with insignificant things, not important shit. Though sometimes people didn’t know something was a big deal when it was. Hmn, maybe that’s what happened? “Did you talk to anyone about the book that would make it a target or might it just have been ‘hey, easy to grab’ kind of thing?” He asked.

He was slightly surprised when she grabbed his arm, the one he was holding the treat in. She had enough good sense not to grab the arm with the plate, but now Misha couldn’t reach up far enough to eat the dessert in his hand. “Could you hand me that? As fond of you as I am, you’re impeding my movement and it’s depriving me of sugar.” He asked, wiggling the dessert around to make his point. He didn’t want Mylorah to let go, he just wanted to finish dessert part one. Also tease her a little, that was always fun.

“Even if I go back I’ll still visit.” Misharan assured his friend, realizing for the first time what going back to Telgar would mean for his friendships. “Okalinth flew not that long ago, so if neither of us Impress here you’ll be by me in a few months anyway. Err, if there’s a gold egg.” He added, momentarily forgetting Telgar didn’t let women Stand without a gold egg. Dumb rule, possibly depriving him of friend time! Some of Mylorah’s wording swirled back into his head, causing a moment of confusion.

“Do you want me to hang out dry and clothed while you take a bath or take a bath with you? I don’t have any of my bath stuff with me.” He tended to bathe late at night, always forgetting to do it earlier in the day, and bringing bathing supplies to dinner had never occurred to him. And since coming to the Weyrs Misharan had gotten a lot more used to the idea of communal baths. Helped that they had springs and massive tubs here, as opposed the the large bucket his family back in Crom had. Not at all conducive to sharing, or even spending more time than absolutely required in them. No wonder dragonriders liked to be clean if they had such nice baths! He did, however, have a fun tidbit for Mylorah.

“Holder life fact for you, Mylo; if we were known to have shared a bath in a Hold our parents would have made us marry. Can you imagine?” He asked her, chuckling a bit. Mylorah was a lovely girl, in both personality and looks, and Misharan was glad he could call her friend, but he had no interest in her of the marriage variety. Or weyrmate variety, as they were in a weyr. Or whatever weyrfolk called casual sexual relationships. In any case, Misha was curious what she might think of that particular Holder tradition. He’d found weyrfolk were not always well educated on just how different life was between Weyr and Hold.

"Oh, sorry!" Mylorah grabbed the treat Misharan was wiggling about to get her attention and took it from him. She had a brief moment's consideration of eating it herself but politely held it up to his mouth instead. It wasn't like he didn't have a plate filled with yumminess in his other hand after all. She eyed said plate, considering if they had enough or if they needed to stock pile a bit more, but in the end determined that was enough to get them through a socialising bath.

She purposely avoided answering the questions about the book for the time-being, not wanting to discuss it too much in the open for respect of Kordiavis' wishes. She did, however, urge him into walking with her as she considered the question about what state of dress he should be in. "Whichever you prefer. You can use my stuff if you'd like and don't mind smelling like flowers. My brother gifted me some fragrant sandsoap for my birthday a few months ago." It was a kind gesture and she loved the scent, but Mylorah couldn't help but wonder if she was being practiced on for buying a woman gifts and if T'ryn had given anything to Casa yet. "Although I only have the one towel so we either share or air dry."

At his comment about being married if they shared the bath, Mylorah came to a stop and stared up at his face to see if he was joking or not. She knew she was horribly gullible most times and wondered if Misharan knew it and was teasing her. T'ryn had told her some Holder facts and how they did some things each time he came back from visiting his, well their, aunt but this wasn't one of those things. "They would not! Really? Well, at least with us it could work to our advantage and be a great cover while we both cheat on each other." She laughed and started walking again, bringing Misharan to one of her favourite bathing rooms. It was on the smaller side, which was possibly why it wasn't used as much and proved itself perfect again when she peeked in and found it empty but a few puddles showed someone had recently left.

"And the book is good, by the way. Or at least important. It's full of someone else's drawings that I was hanging on to because of their insecurities about it." She waved her hand in slight annoyance over the whole thing. She understood why Kordiavis didn't want to keep his drawings but she also wished he would realise he didn't have to hide his talent or fear anyone anymore. With a sigh, she started stripping, leaving her clothes in a pile away from the water. She was certain a friend took the book and likely thought she saw it as well or would at least know who would do such a prank. It had to be in good hands in that case and Mylorah left herself stop worrying for the time being so she could soak away the day's stress and work.

Misharan gratefully accepted the treat, thanking Mylorah through the mouthful of food. He then realized that he still had no hands and couldn’t take a bite out of the thing without dropping the rest of it. Damnit. He managed to use his teeth and tongue to move the entire treat in his mouth so he could eat it without any falling on the floor, though it took a bit of concentration. Misha would have cheered in success if he could actually open his mouth. He listened to Mylorah and nodded along with what she said until he managed to eat enough of the dessert to actually speak.

“We’ll make it work.” He said with a shrug, following along beside Mylorah. “And flowers are manly as fuck, I’ll have you know.” Well, no, they weren’t, really, but Misha didn’t care about that sort of thing very much anymore. He’d had enough of it in the Hold and decided to just do whatever he wanted now. And smelling like flowers sounded nice enough.

Her sudden stop almost made him trip, but Misharan kept his footing and grinned at the stunned face of his friend. “Really. Well, some of them anyway. Can’t speak for every holder and every Hold, I suppose, but if my father or grandfather had caught me in any sort of undress with an unmarried girl we’d be wed within three days. I’ve seen it happen though, a friend of mine got caught kissing a boy and they were married by the end of the week. And here no one marries! Quite the difference moving from one to the other, let me tell you.” He said, deeply entertained by her skepticism. It was bizarre, when you thought about it, especially if you were used to weyrlife. “Not a bad idea though, I think I might actually survive being married to you.” Misha teased, gently shoving her with the shoulder of the arm she held as they started walking again. The bathing room Mylo lead him to was not one he’d been to before, though considering he didn’t live in Ista and just went to the big one by the Candidate barracks, that wasn’t surprising.

“Yeah, that does sound important.” Misharan frowned, thinking over the description of the book Mylorah gave. “Maybe they walked by, saw their book and took it themselves. Who knows.” He shrugged, picking up on Mylorah being done with the topic and not wanting to worry about things in the bath. Though really, Misha felt it was difficult to be worried in the bath. Baths were too nice to be stressed in. He quickly shed his clothes and tossed them into a corner where they should be dry and climbed into the bath, careful not to slip on the puddles around the edged — he’d learned to watch for those the hard way — and waited for Mylorah, doing the vaguely polite, vaguely awkward stare in the opposite direction while someone undressed.

Mylorah didn’t think Kordiavis would have taken it without a word, even if she was in the middle of a discussion with someone else. He would have at least nudged her to let her know he had it again. Pouting once more over her carelessness, she finished stripping and turned to find Misharan looking everywhere but at her. With a laugh she moved the supplies to the edge of the water and slipped in, sighing as the warmth already began its soothing duties.

“You don’t have to play proper holder with me, Misha, especially if we’re already practically married,” she couldn’t help but call him out on being so polite. Truthfully, she liked that he looked away like a proper gentleman but it wouldn’t have bothered her if he watched her strip either. If the idea of being naked together hadn’t stopped her from inviting him to bathe with her, everything else before and after that activity certainly wouldn’t either. Then again, maybe he was just shy, or simply didn’t have any interest in looking at a woman’s body. He didn’t have to look but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to sneak some peeks when she could.

Scooting a bit closer to where the plate of sweets was, Mylorah grabbed the one that called out to her and happily bit into it as she sank a little lower into the water. She’d get to the cleaning part of the bath eventually but first she needed to relieve some stress built up from losing the book. She needed to stop thinking about it as well if she really wanted to relax and a glance at Misharan gave her the perfect idea. “So. In Ista, who do you still want to hook up with while you have the chance?” Misharan could Impress soon, making him put aside such lusty endeavours for a while or he could pack up and leave after this clutch or either option could happen with Mizeath’s clutch in a few months. “If you haven’t already, I’d suggest R’dal. He seems pretty in to you.”

“Force of habit.” Misharan said with a shrug, a light blush appearing high on his cheeks. “I’d feel like a creep if I stared at you, anyway.” He didn’t have any problem seeing Mylorah or most anyone else naked — there were certainly some people he didn’t want to be around when they were fully clothed, and nudity would likely only make them more unpleasant — but there was a line between perfectly casual and platonic glancing over of nudity someone you were interacting with when they were nude, and being a total voyeur and staring intently at someone changing.

“Would you prefer I acted like a virgin Holder boy who’s never seen a naked woman before?” He teased, splashing a bit of water towards her, but not hard enough to do more then send a few scattered drops into her shoulder. And okay, he hadn’t seen that many naked women but still. He had more decorum about it than most men he knew.

Her next question didn’t surprise him; they were talking about nakedness and marriage, sex was just the next point on the list. “Hmm, there are a lot of options with all the Candidates in one place, aren't there?” Misha said, reaching out to grab some sort of sweet roll from the plate and taking a thoughtful bite out of it. “Is he really? You think? I mean, I definitely would, but R’dal’s technically in Fort, not here, so he’s not around all the time. Makes it more complicated. You don’t happen to know someone with a dragon who will give me a lift to Fort to seduce R’dal if he doesn’t show up at a convenient time by the Hatching, do you?” He asked with a laugh, taking another bite of the roll. “Now, how about you, Mylo?” Misha teased, pointing at her with the partially eaten roll. “Anyone you have your eyes on you want to go for before the Hatching? Need a wingman for any of them?”

Mylorah laughed, already having a lot of fun with the topic with the way Misharan seemed a bit surprised at her suggestion and the bombardment of questions. "Totally. He was all over you at the party, though that's just kind of how he is but he definitely lingered around you. And I have it on great authority that he's into men as well," her own experience taught her that. It was a bit of a blow to her ego when she was all into it and he really wasn't but that's why you had a good group of friends to experiment with and find out what you liked. She knew R'dal and R'dare had hooked up around or after their graduation for that reason and both guys had approached her some time after that. At least R'dare enjoyed the night with her so it wasn't a total waste of time and bruised ego.

"Actually, I do know a dragonrider that would likely take you to Fort for booty calls. R'vi's pretty chill and would likely be going there for the same reason," she was so happy R'vi had finally found his stride again. Even as young as she was when the drama happened of Nyvian Impressing when Ryvian didn't, she worried about him and if he'd be okay on his own without his twin beside him at all times. But once he Impressed and graduated, he seemed to find his old self and spent a lot of time making new Candidates feel welcome and hanging out with friends again.

"Not that you really need to resort to that. R'dal's dad is Weyrleader M'ris so he pops in from time to time to visit family or to hang out at the beach." Mylorah finished off her treat, smiling in satisfaction at both the taste and that she was playing matchmaker for friends. If nothing else it'd just be a fling but she didn't think either of them were looking for a relationship anyway so she didn't feel bad in suggesting the hook up.

When Misharan turned the question back on her she shook her head, "no wingman needed for this gal," she winked and laughed at her own confidence when she knew she really wasn't that seductive. She never realy went looking for someone to sleep with; she just befriended everyone and if they ended up in bed together, awesome. "But let's see... Siroll is rather handsome and not as surly as everyone thinks. Oh and Casa is cute, isn't she? But that whole dating my brother thing makes things a bit messy." She shrugged, not too concerned about it and leaned back so she could start to wet her hair in preparation of washing it.

Misharan ‘hmn’ed and tilted his head to the side in thought. He liked R’dal, the bluerider was fun and it had been nice getting to know him while the Candidates were milling around at Ista in anticipation of the Hatching. He was also cute, which didn’t hurt in the slightest. R’dal also seemed like the type to not make it weird if you slept together and wanted to continue being friends, or even make it weird if he rejected your advances. Misharan loved when people didn’t make it weird. If the opportunity presented himself, Misha figured he’d go for it. Hopefully it would and he wouldn’t actually have to find a way to Fort.

“Oh, I know R’vi. He came to introduce himself a bit after I was Searched.” Misharan remembered he’d been nice, and it’d been nice to have someone stop by and chat when you were new to the weyr and knew practically nobody, especially someone who was willing to answer all your questions about weyrlife. There were a good number of rumors about weyrfolk and how they did things, and while Misha could tell some were absolute bullshit having someone to confirm or deny what he’d heard and elaborate on other things was extraordinarily helpful in his transition to being a Candidate. They hadn't really become good friends or anything, but Misharan had liked R’vi. “Whether I need to ask him for a ride or not, I should say hi.” Maybe let him know just how much it had helped him to have a friend and source of information when he first arrived.

“My concern is just that you know as soon as I expect him to come visit Ista will the the week he doesn’t, you know? Has no time or whatever. But if I have a plan to get over there, for one I have a plan to get over there, and for the other he’s more likely to stop by Ista. Or whatever. I dunno, bullshit superstition or whatever, but it always happens.” Misharan shrugged. “If you see him maybe tell him to look for me, yeah?” He said, winking at her.

Mylorah’s teasing confidence made him laugh and grin at her. He would have said much the same thing, if he were honest, but it was important to have a silly comeback or response. Continue the fun banter and all. “Hmn, but the point of a wingman isn’t to make getting laid easier, it’s to entertain yourself along the way. It’s much more fun trying to seduce someone with a friend cheering you on or there to hear all the sordid tales, no?” Misharan asked with a cocky smile, before leaning over to grab some of the soap sand. Might as well actually wash in the bath. And it did smell nice, though he couldn’t identify the flower scent. Maybe he should get some fun scented soap sand in the near future, could be nice. Moving on from his distraction of the soap sand, Misha continued gossiping with Mylo.

“The dating your brother thing is a bit of a damper, yeah. For you, does dating a sibling make someone off limits forever? Or could you have a thing with Casa if she and T’ryn broke up. After an appropriate amount of time passed of course, however long they may be.” He asked, wondering. He’d never had any overlapping romantic interests with his brothers, due to them being a good few turns older and exclusively invested in women, so Misharan wasn’t entirely sure how that might play out. His sister had never dated, just been given a few options for a husband and Misharan had found them all boring. “Siroll… haven’t met him, but I’ve seen him. He’s handsome enough. How long’s he been here? I’m usually hesitant about men just Searched from Holds, they have weird ideas about fucking men and can get aggressive if you flirt with them, or are just too flustered to make it worth your time.” He explained, scrunching up his nose at the thought. Thankfully, he didn’t have too many bad experiences like that, but he had heard plenty of horror stories, and a weyrbrat friend of his even had a story where some freshly Searched kid punched him in the face for flirting with him. Kid had gone on to Impress brown a few months later, and no one who had heard the story was surprised. “You could definitely go for it though,” He added, nodding at Mylorah, “And if you need any further information on the weird ideas about women and sex they teach us Holder boys, I am happy to be your informant.”

“Oh I just bet he did. R’vi’s quite good at introducing himself,” the bluerider had taken up the mantle of Candi Man and seemed to have fun with it, though she didn’t think he made to many trips to the other Weyrs to perform such duties. Maybe only when he was already there, he did. She also wondered if the other Weyrs had an official greeter or two like Ista now had with R’vi; and sometimes even herself. She’d have to ask around. “Be warned, though, that just like partying with R’vi, stopping by to say hi is often clothing optional.” Mylorah laughed but was telling the truth. She was actually sad she was so much younger than the twins. It sounded like she missed out on some amazing parties back in Katila before they Impressed. Their UnImpressed parties were legendary.

At the request to let R’dal know he should look for Misharan, Mylorah nodded before she began washing her hair, working the soapsand in at the roots. It was fun having someone to gossip with and chat boys with. It wasn’t that she was lacking in friends like that, but Misharan was so much fun and had a playful streak that matched hers. He was also open and didn’t seem to care about sharing or have a need to be mysterious. “I’ll give you all the sordid details even if you aren’t my wingman if that makes you feel better,” she worked the soap down the long strands of dark hair, wondering not for the first time if she should cut it short to save time bathing and getting ready for bed or for the day. But, as always, she decided against it, loving it long too much.

She dipped her head back to let her hair soak in the water again, getting a lovely view of the ceiling as she continued speaking, “If they broke up and Casa invited me to her comfy goldrider bed the next day, I wouldn’t turn her down. We’re friends and she wouldn’t be sleeping with my brother anymore so I don’t see any harm in it.” Mylorah wondered if that was being weyrbred again or if holders thought like that as well. Given what Misharan had already told her about them being married if they were caught like they currently were in a bath together, she doubted holders were the same. Did they even date before committing themselves to one person? That sounded depressing. “Just like I don’t care if friends sleep with my siblings. It’s their choice, I’m not going to meddle.” Still, while she didn’t mind, she had worried in the past if T’ryn felt the same way. She could easily imagine him at least pouting at R’dare for sleeping with her since they were friends.

Sitting back up, Mylorah squeezed the excess water from her hair and moved on to scrubbing down her upper body, “see, that’s the issue with Siroll. He was Searched less than a year ago and from what you’ve been saying, casual flings might not be something he’s used to. I’d hop in bed with him, probably more than once if we had fun, but I don’t want anything serious.” She may not have inherited her father’s fair appearance but she did get his commitment issues. Mylorah didn’t want to open herself up to someone only to have them toss her aside when they grew bored, which was why she kept everything casual and between friends. She also just didn’t see the point of being tied down to one person when there were so many people to continue having fun with.

“I wouldn’t make a very good holder, would I?” She frowned, but wasn’t that concerned at the idea. She loved Weyr life too much to ever consider trying to fit in with the holders.

“Oh dear, clothing optional? However will I manage, I’m so shy about being unclothed around others.” Misharan deadpanned, sticking his tongue out at Mylorah. Despite the prudishness of his Holder upbringing (though he was sure at least some of it was just his specific family, it was overall a Holder thing in general), Misharan had very quickly gotten used to being naked around other people. Shared baths and barracks would do that to you. And on a list of people who would be fun to optionally wear clothes around, R’vi was fairly high on the list. Even if visiting the bluerider was nothing more than a visit to say hello, it would likely be a good time

He nodded at her promise to give him all the details, appreciating the thought. “Good. I expect nothing less, you know. I will give you the sordid details as well, if you wish for them.” All those turns of not sharing anything with people made him very loose with personal information these days, and Misharan had very little shame around friends. Misharan watched Mylorah wash her hair for a moment, rather fascinated by the process. He’d always had short hair, and didn’t put too much effort into it. Just scrubbed a little soapsand in it quickly and dunked his head in the water. Not… whatever Mylorah was doing that seemed methodical and well thought out and made Misharan very glad his hair didn’t require that sort of work.

“Hmn, fair enough. I bet those goldrider beds are comfy. Makes sense to me, I just remember two of my brothers going at it a bit cause one of them started looking at a girl the other one used to have a thing for.” Misharan shrugged and started his complex hair washing process of dumping a handful of soapsand on his head and ruffling his hair for a bit. “It always seemed silly to me, so maybe it was just a them thing.” Satisfied that the soapsand was sufficiently scrubbed in, Misha dunked his head underwater, shook it there for a moment, then pulled his head back up, pushing his hair back with a hand to keep water from dripping into his eyes.

He paused thoughtfully for a moment, considering what she said about Siroll. “It’s probably still worth pursuing, just maybe be extra clear about what you’re looking for? He might be perfectly happy with just a fling too, you never know. He could’ve been waiting turns for the opportunity, depending on what things were like where he’s from. I know I was.” Misharan said, reaching again for the soapsand. Being interested in men in Crom had been… interesting, considering all he ever heard were subdued, scandalized whispers and derogatory comments. Being somewhere he could openly be interested in men and act on that interest was like walking from a dark mine shaft into direct sunlight. He knew there were other Candidates and riders here with similar experiences, and Misharan knew women interested in anyone had similar experiences when it came to sex and the Weyrs. He figured maybe it wasn’t much different for men interested in women, just… maybe less desperate.

“And yeah, you’d be a pretty shit holder, but I was also a pretty shit holder, so whatever. They don’t have dragons and they have much less fun, from my experience. Why would we want to be like that.” Misharan nodded once, emphasizing his point. His childhood hadn’t been horrible, and he tended to view the Hold more harshly than strictly necessary, but he had always felt restricted there, closed in. One of his brother’s described being in a mineshaft with poor air quality once, how it pressed in on your chest. Misharan felt like that almost all the time, and couldn’t get away from it nearly as easily. He honestly had no idea how his life might have gone if he hadn’t been Searched, and Misharan never wanted to find out. Even if he never Impressed a dragon, he was never going back. He could be some dragonrider’s mate and it would be great. Lost in thought, he washed quietly for a moment before hitting an interesting thought.

“Hey Mylo, how many people do you suppose think we’re a thing? Or that we’re banging, at least.”

Mylorah nodded in agreement that with the right boundaries set before going into something, it could still work out but she didn't know if she'd actively pursue Siroll. She'd let it go naturally and see where their developing friendship took them. For all she knew, Siroll was into only men and just wanted her friendship and she was fine with giving that. But if it looked like he was falling hard for her, then maybe she'd have to explain how she worked. She just wasn't ready for settling down or having something serious.

She laughed at Misharan's honesty about how she'd do as a Holder. This was exactly why she appreciated him and their growing friendship. She loved that he didn't hold back when asked a question and she suspected he'd tell her a thing or two even if she didn't ask. Hopefully he Impressed at Ista so they could keep hanging out and having gossip sessions in the bath! Then again, they'd probably get lucky where he Impressed here and she was shipped off to the next gold egg and Impressed there. She supposed they would just have to somehow avoid Impressing without the other.

As they both lapsed into silence, Mylorah took the opportunity to snag another roll from the plate and nibbled on it with a smile. Sugar and cinnamon seemed to make all woes disappear. Looking at the small amount that was left on the plate, though, made her feel a bit guilty. Misharan had piled that plate up for himself and she had just started helping herself to them. But, as she already decided about her friend, he would have slapped her hand away or told her to stop pigging out on his dessert if he didn't want to share.

When she finished savouring the treat, Mylorah got out of the water and sat just along the edge. Lathering up some more soapsand, she began working it into her skin on her lower half of her body, beginning at the toes and moving up. If she had been with anyone other than Misharan, Mylorah would have flirted and teased while she did it, making a suggestive comment or two as she worked higher up her thighs. But it'd all be lost on him, though perhaps not as much as she thought and she started to giggle at his question.

"With our reputations? Everyone, darling," Mylorah replied with a wink as she slid back into the water to rinse off and return to soaking for a bit longer. She had to get out soon and start the search for the art book again but a few more minutes wouldn't hurt. "But I'm not inclined to change their thinking. Unless someone interested in you asks me and then I'll set the record straight so you don't miss out on a good time."

Misharan winked at Mylorah when she laughed at being called a shit holder. He really loved her sense of humor, it matched his well. They could tease each other and know everything was in fun, and it was easy for him to tell when she teasing. Mylo seemed like she could tell the same, so Misharan figured they wouldn’t run into too much miscommunication or accidentally genuinely insulting each other. He really would miss her when he returned to Telgar. If he returned to Telgar, better to think positive. And if he didn’t Impress, went back, and got real bored in Telgar he could in theory ask to transfer. They allowed that for Candidates, right? Or get friends with dragons to transport him all the time. Both could work.

He idly watched Mylorah eat one of the rolls, not really paying attention and just zoning out in the warm water. Eventually, he decided he should probably keep washing instead of just sitting there, and started scrubbing the soapsand on his arms and torso. He had just finished rinsing them off when he’d asked his question, laughing at Mylorah’s answer.

“That’s what I figured, though you never know. Some people are surprisingly dense or surprisingly perceptive.” Misha shrugged, rinsing the last of the soap on his arms off. “And as long as they know I’m still available I don’t really care what you say. Shit, tell them you know from experience how good an idea it would be, keep them intrigued.” He laughed, placing his hands on the side and leaning back to pull himself out of the water to finish washing.

"I'll be able to tell them with absolute honesty that they'll like what they see under your clothes," Mylorah grinned as she openly checked him out and what he had to offer. Too bad he was gay or she would scoot right on over there and make all the rumours about them true. "I'll boost you up as well and say things like you have excellent tongue technique." She laughed as she pulled herself from the water again. As much as she'd like, she really couldn't spend all evening in the water and had to get moving.

Sitting on the edge and letting her feet dangle in, Mylorah worked at squeezing as much water as she could out of her hair. Sometimes she tried to towel dry it but she only had the one towel and since she had dragged Misharan to the baths with her without any of his belongings, she thought she'd use it as little as possible so they could share it if he wanted. Then again, he could just sprawl on the ground and air dry. It was certainly still warm enough to do such a thing in a matter of minutes.

"Thanks for humouring me and joining me in the bath, Mimi. You can join me any time," and she meant it. Sometimes a quiet soak alone was nice after a long day or when she needed to think, but it was nice having someone to chat with about random things. He also was an expert at making her laugh and that was appreciated, especially when she had been crawling on the floor in a panic not long ago.

Getting up, Mylorah wiped away the excess drops of water as best as she could before going to find her towel. Instead of a good wipe down, she gently patted it over her skin, doing her best to keep it usable for Misharan if he wanted it. Satisfied she was dry enough, she slipped on her panties and then her light flowy dress. It was rare for her to wear a bra, finding them uncomfortable, especially on hot days, but she did toss one on when she had manual labour chores or a lot of running was involved. As much as she wanted to run around barefoot like she was five again, the dainty little shoes she thought were cute and really only appropriate for Hold gathers or relaxing in a weyr were slipped back on. Normally she wore proper boots during the day's tasks but she had switched them out before dinner, wanting to feel extra cute that evening.

She didn't want to rush him out of the bath but it looked like he was close to wrapping up as well so she picked up the towel, gave it a smart snap to shake it out and held it out to Misharan with a bit of a curtsy and playful smile. "A towel for you, my lord?"

ooc: Sorry, Misharan. She wanted to give you a cutesy nickname that only she uses. She may have used it before or it can be the first time. Up to you!

Misharan’s laughter echoed in the small bathing chamber and he winked at Mylorah, amused by the way she blatantly looked him over. He wasn’t particularly into her like that, but Misha knew he was good looking by most people’s standards and always preened a little when people checked him out, even if he had no interest in the person doing the checking. He was vain, so what? The comment about tongue technique had Misharan sticking out his tongue teasingly at Mylorah.

As she started doing another thing with her hair, Misharan focused back on finishing washing. No point in taking a bath just to take another bath later. Or, you know, maybe there was. There probably was. But at this point he should just finish cleaning himself instead of having to take another bath at midnight or something. He looked up when Mylorah started talking again.

“This was fun.” Misharan said, smiling fondly at her, “I’d love to do it again sometime.” The nickname she used made him feel warm inside, pleased she liked him enough to give him an additional nickname. Most people felt Misha was sufficient, which it was, but having a special nickname felt… nice. He liked it, in any case. “You know this means I have to come up with a fun nickname for you too, right?” He grinned at her, trying to think of a good one. He spent the next few minutes thinking on it. Nothing struck him as great just yet, but he’d work on it.

He was pulled from thoughts of silly nicknames by a sharp noise, and Misharan turned to see Mylorah, now dressed, giving a poor excuse for a curtsy and offering him the one towel. “Ah, yes, thank you my lady, how kind of you to share this towel with me.” Misharan said, affecting a tone that people seemed to attribute to lords. He had no idea whether or not it was accurate, never having met a lord, but everyone mocking lords used the tone, so he did too. Bowing to Mylorah, he took the towel from her and started drying off, not really bothering with his hair or torso. He figured he’d keep his shirt off and mostly air dry. He figured pants would be appreciated by other weyrfolk (even if he was beautiful), so he dried off enough to put those on, balling the rest of his clothes up and tucking them under his arm.

“Shall I escort the lady back to her room?” Misha asked with a wink and his arm held out for Mylorah to take it.

Mylorah laughed at his Holder’s voice. She really didn’t have any idea how a lord sounded and was guilty of doing the same kind of ridiculous and over the top voice as well. It probably sounded worse when she did it since she had to lower her voice and try to sound manly. When she did a Lady’s voice, it was always higher pitched and breathy and usually ended with her giggling at it. Giving the illusion of privacy – as if she hadn’t been scoping out him out before – she turned her attention to tidying up, returning everything to the bag and glancing around once more to ensure nothing was missed. She was great at forgetting something and not remembering until she was back in her room, or worse, already in bed.

She returned to the threat to come up with a nickname while she cleaned up. She knew her name wasn’t really easy to hack apart more than her friends did with ‘Mylo’ but she loved the nickname as much as people using her full name. But for Misharan to have a special name to call her in return to her own would be sweet, and no doubt play up the rumours that they were sleeping together if anyone overheard the affectionate names.

Momentarily distracted again from the name game, Mylorah smiled and took the offered arm. “That would be most kind of you, my lord.” She grabbed the towel from Misharan and slung it over her shoulder away from him and fell in step with him as they began the journey back to her room. She debated going right to Casa’s but this way meant she was less likely to leave a trail of her belongings as she went.

“You know, we could be Mimi and Mymy. We’d sound absolutely selfish,” she wrinkled her nose at the idea but also kind of adored it. It was so silly and fun, and what was the point in having friends if you couldn’t be silly and fun together? “Although if you ever to chide me over something. You’d sound a bit crazy. ‘My, my, my, Mymy,’” that was enough to send her into another fit of giggles, imagining the looks her friend would receive and how they’d likely think him crazy or that he lost his train of though and only remembered the one word.

Perfect.” Misharan said, absolutely beaming. “My lady Mymy, I love it.” Matching nicknames, how fun! He was so grateful that he and Mylorah had gotten to know each other better. Sure, he had plenty of friends, but Mylo seemed to operate on much the same level he did, and they had a lot in common. And it was nice to have a friend who resonated with him like that. Misharan was absolutely going to be bribing a lot of Telgar dragonriders to bring him to Ista to visit.

They spent the rest of the walk back to where they were keeping the Candidates not talking, but not in silence. Misharan couldn’t help giggling every time he made eye contact with Mylorah, so while they didn’t really talk they were still having fun.

Eventually they reached their destination, and Misharan unhooked his arm from Mylorah and gave her another overly dramatic bow and again picked up the ostentatious ‘lord’ accent, “Here you are, Lady Mymy. Your lodgings.” He stood back up, now facing her and smiled. “This was fun, Mylo. We should do it again sometime. Or find other places to hang out and chat.” With that, Misharan gave her a hug and a quick kiss on the temple, and stepped back with a fond smile. “Have a good rest of your night. And good luck finding that book, yeah? If you need help kicking someone’s ass for it, you know where I sleep and you’re welcome to wake me up at any time.” His usefulness at actually kicking any ass was minimal if he had woken up too recently, but the offer was genuine.
