Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

[[Update slowly in progress because ThistleProse is a slackarse :3 lmao ]]

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 03, 740 AL

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are getting a lot of rain, thunderstorms, and cloudy days. Grass is growing, flowers flowering, and baby animals popping up all over the place! Yay spring!

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

And so it is December! Can’t believe how fast this year is flying by! At any rate, we have LOTS of fun for you this month! For starters, why don’t you sign up for our Secret Santa Event! Pairs will be assigned on the 14th! You can sign your character(s) up as a Giver, a Receiver or Both! We also hope that you enjoy our Christmas layout, which will be available for use for the entire month of December! After that, it will go into hiding until next Christmas!

We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!

This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!

November 2017

Welcome to November! We'd love it if you would take the time to Vote in our Horrifying Moments threads! We will also be awarding Stamps for people who vote, not just those who took part! We hope you enjoyed this event as much as we did! You can see the Stamps that will be awarded in the Horrifying Moment's thread.

This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!

October 2017

Welcome to October! As part of our Halloween celebrations, the Horrifying Moments event is now open! You may START a thread at any point during the month of October to qualify it for the event! We hope you have a lot of fun with this event, and we look forward to reading your threads! Don't forget to "Like" the threads you enjoy most, so we can award someone the MOST HORRIFYING stamp! Stamps will be revealed later in the month!

September 2017

Welcome to September! This month, we're working on our Awards for the site! We are also advertising avidly! Please welcome any guests or new members with all that warm charm we know you all posess! That said, we are still seeking Affiliates, so if you're here to drop an ad, please consider us!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

Appearance

Eyes: His eyes are green and quite distinctive. He has what is best described as a piercing gaze which conveys his emotions quite clearly. There is a scar on his left eyebrow from an accident as a boy that is still clearly visible.

Hair: Black and seems rather unkempt most of the time. He doesn't fuss with it too much and usually keeps it about shoulder length. If it gets too long for him he just chops it off and lets it grow back so it might be most any length at any given time depending on his mood.
Height: 6' 4"

General Appearance: K'dyn is a large man. Only a little over average height for a man of Pern he is also broad shouldered, barrel chested and heavily muscled. Large from birth he has always been physically imposing. Though quite the intimidating figure he isn't really a violent ruffian. He only looks that way to those who don't know him well.

Dressing Style: K'dyn is at heart a simple man and will dress accordingly. Usually he is prone to wear earth tones and nothing too fancy in the way of jewellery or accessories. He is proud of his knots though and will wear those prominently and sometimes he favors necklaces made from shark teeth, small shells or shiny stones. These are all rather simply made and humble in appearance though. If his hair gets too long he might pull it back and tie it off with some colorful string.

Personality

General Character Traits: Due to the circumstances of his birth and early childhood K'dyn was alone quite a lot and it shows. He became very self sufficient but also rather surly and withdrawn as a boy. Growing up he kept mostly to himself and was socially introverted. An angry or irritated expression became the norm for him but he was more empty and lonely than really violent.

Since coming to the Weyr and seeing more of the world he has started to blossom some. He now tries to be social but he lacks experience in dealing with people or forming close relationships. Having his dragon though and feeling that unconditional love helps him strive to reconnect more with his own race. While still clumsy at that he is trying. It makes it difficult sometimes though when his outer self seems to project an image of wanting to be left alone but inside he needs and wants to connect.

K'dyn is notoriously slow and methodical with his thinking and actions. While he can and does act quickly if the situation calls for it his normal way of doing things is to approach a problem, study it, think it over and then to sort it all out. Sometimes this can lead to over thinking of an issue.

This is especially true with social problems. He is still kind of unpracticed in dealing with people. Sometimes his methodical nature can lead to the impression that he isn't very bright or just isn't interested but that usually isn't the case.

It is also worth mentioning that dependability is the driving force of his life. He has little use for anyone who can't be counted on and always tries to be there for whatever needs done. While he can seem gruff and imposing he is really only trying to do whatever it is he sees as right and probably has trouble articulating it.

Habits: His main habit is glaring and frowning if he doesn't know what to say or do. A thoughtful frown is his default expression and an angry glare comes second if he is confused or frustrated. This doesn't mean he is really feeling those things so strongly but just that he isn't fully aware of how it looks to other people. Old habits die hard but he is trying to be more social and connect with people.

Opinions:
Threadfall Theory: It's coming. I can feel it in my bones. We must be ready for it.
Stealing/Kidnapping: Not happy about it. It showed the riders in a bad light even though there were reasons for it. That will cause problems for us going forward.
Weryrleader S'kef: No opinion because he wasn't actually in the south at any time.
Firelizards: Mostly curious. He isn't sure what to make of them.
Women's loss of honourifics: No opinion. He never knew a time when they had them.
Return North: He didn't come to the Weyr till they had returned to the north

Likes:
Flying: It was a lonely, restrictive life back in Nerat. Flying is so liberating and opens the world.
The Ocean: Much the same as flying. Being from the interior of the Nerat penninsula he had never seen the ocean. Now he can't imagine life without it and feels drawn to the open sea and horizons.
Having a sense of purpose: Life in Nerat was always the same. Work, glare at the people who annoyed him, sleep and repeat. Having a higher purpose now and something to work towards is good for him.

Dislikes:
Bullys: Nothing angers him more than anyone taking advantage of those weaker than themselves. He will gladly beat down any bully he is able to.
Loneliness: He had enough of that in Nerat and never wants to feel that again. By extension he will have sympathy for anyone he sees as being bullied.
People putting on airs: K'dyn is a simple man with simple tastes. In his experience haughty people are usually the least dependable and are prone to bully others. He can't abide either.

Strengths:
Physique: His great strength and endurance is certainly an advantage. K'dyn is physically superior athletically than most people and the rigors of weyrling training have only increased that advantage.
Math skills: Once he was taken to the Weyr and exposed to a little education K'dyn found that he has a gift for numbers. Not a genius level or anything but he does have a knack for doing calculations and using the weather and thread fall charts.
Mental toughness: K'dyn has been through a lot in his young life and managed to persevere through patience and sheer will power. He wont be one to back away from a fit or hard times and always tries to support others he thinks need it.

Flaws:
Shy: Despite his appearance K'dyn is still insecure on a social level. Sometimes he is too faint of heart to tell people what he really thinks or if he fancies them. He may stammer and stutter a bit if he really is into someone.
Suspicious: As a young boy he had a problem with bullies. Breaking a few noses kept them from bothering him that much after but he still is mistrustful of people till he has had some time to know them. This suspicion sometimes keeps him from letting people get too close.
Lack of imagination: Though his horizons have expanded by coming to the Weyr K'dyn is still a simple person at heart. He trusts in the rankers to make the right decisions and is often uncertain in new situations. If there isn't a tried and true way to do something he may well be at a loss as to how to improvise.
Accidentally destructive: Quite often he doesn't know his own strength. He has often broken things without meaning too. This might be clothes worn out too quickly, tools that break after he uses them or leather straps that he wears through too quickly. He spends as much time repairing things he has accidentally broken as any other chore in the Weyr.

Father: Unknown
Rank: N/A
Mother: Myisha, b.704, d.727
Rank: Drudge
Siblings: None

Past Lovers/Partners:  N/A. Only a few short term partners after mothing flights
Current Lovers/Partners: N/A
Children: None that he knows of but there might be one or two he doesn't know about in the lower caverns
Background Story:

K'dyn doesn't know much about where his family came from since the folks in the hold he was born to wouldn't speak of them. He knows that his mother was born there, the youngest child of a man who was convicted of murder in the court of the Lord Holder of Nerat. Apparently his other children moved to other holds to hide their shame but Myisha couldn't bear to leave the only home she had ever known, even though she became an outcast there. Things became worse for her when she conceived a child out of wedlock and wouldn't name the father.

There were only so many men in the little farming hold in the interior of Nerat and all of these were married. Rumors began to swirl as they often do in such a small place and the women began to fear that maybe it was their husband who had been unfaithful. Myisha never admitted who it was for whatever reason and no man stepped forth so she and her young son became even more outcast than before.

Things were bad for young Kradyn and his mother but they took a turn for the worse when Myisha began to sicken in his sixth year. He had been quite the large baby and she had never fully healed inside from the delivery. Between this and stress she began to grow weaker over the months. Kradyn did what he could for her but to no avail. She died a few months short of his seventh birthing day.

Now he was alone in the truest sense. Some of the hold folk took some sympathy on the boy but it wasn't as much as a growing child would need. He had food, clothes and somewhere to sleep but that was about the end of it. Fortunately he was strong for his age and had developed a great work ethic so that earned him some respect. His outsider status also earned him a few bullies who tried to take advantage of him. From this he learned to fight and to be distrustful of others.

It was a hard life for the next few years but the boy kept growing stronger, physically and mentally. Then one day, as if by magic, the dragons came. Kradyn was in awe of them as they came to search in his little hold. Much to his relief they found him suitable. When they offered to take him with them he accepted immediately and has never looked back.

When he was taken to Ista Weyr it was just the first of many beginnings for him. He had never seen the sea and was entranced by it. Flying on a dragons back was a thrill to him and still is to this day. At the Weyr they exposed him to education and he took to it readily enough learning to read and write in short order. It was working with numbers at which he really shined though, showing some proficiency for working with numbers. All of this thrilled him to no end. After so many years of being treated as if he was slow and stupid he couldn't express how it made him feel to prove that wasn't the case.

The most profound change though was being found by Branth. The security of his dragon's love and trust helped the newly renamed K'dyn to trust other people more. He is even learning to trust himself and move beyond some of the hard feelings and lack of confidence from his rough upbringing. That much anyway is still a work in progress. The brownrider just knows that now he wants to be the best rider he can possibly be and to leave the world in a better place than he found it before he too passes.

727, age 6 Kradyn's mother dies and he is left alone. Though nominally a member of the hold he is only given the bare minimum of attention to keep him fed and clothed. He becomes quite the loner.

734, age 13  Kradyn is searched by riders from Ista and is taken to the Weyr to begin a new life as a candidate.

737, age 16 Kradyn is found by brown Branth and begins Weyrling training.

739, age 18 K'dyn graduates with the rest of the New Beginnings clutch and is now officially a rider.

Education

Craft: General education.
Education Details:  Only the bare bones of education that candidates and then Weyrlings get. K'dyn can read and write. He has some aptitude for mathematics.

Dragon

Dragon Name: Branth
 Name Pronounced: Branth
Dragon Colour: Brown
Wing Assigned: ?
 Wing Rank: Wingrider

Hatching Date: 26.03.737
Birthing Weyr: Ista
Home Weyr: Ista
Clutch Name: New Beginnings
 Clutch Mother: Mizeath
 Clutch Father: Mosiath

Appearance:
 Length: 33 feet
 Height: 16 feet
 Wingspan: 50 feet
Scars & Markings: No scars yet. His hide is a mottled, patchy swirl of dark brown shades looking a lot like a swampy patch of mud. He is not a 'pretty' dragon.
Weyrlinghood: Muddy brown with varying shades. When young appeared rather portly and lumpy. It took him awhile to grow into his musculature and frame.

Adulthood: Still has a mottled, muddy field sort of appearance. Now his muscles and over all bulk have come into effect. Not a pretty dragon by any stretch of the imagination but has a very powerful, masculine look to him. He has thick limbs with big feet, over sized wings and a slightly over sized head.

In appearance he is kind of stout and stocky. Not fat but heavily muscled and bulky. In the air he looks about as aerodynamic as a flying brick but does manage to maneuver similarly to other dragons his size. Where he excels is in staying power and he would usually have the power to fly a full thread fall even in high winds if it was called for.

Mindvoice: Branth has a deep and gravely mind voice. Like the rest of him it isn't pretty but conveys power.

General Character Traits: Like most browns Branth is solid and dependable. He doesn't have much in the way of imagination but he is dedicated to bettering himself, his rider and being as ready as possible for the thread that will eventually come. Despite this he does have a certain dry humor about him and can be amused by the oddest things.

Habits/Mannerisms:  Like most dragons he is prone to lazing in the sun when he can. Not lazy by nature but he does like to conserve his effort and not go running all about until he has a plan and purpose. As such he can often be found sitting and watching the folks around with some amusement at their antics.

Much like his rider he is a protector by nature. Sometimes this comes out as encouraging K'dyn to be more social or driving the other dragons around him to become stronger. Whichever is the case he watches, waits and then acts with a measured patience.

Likes:
Routine: Branth likes it when things are nice and steady and calm. An upset to his routine irritates him and he will do whatever he can to bring things back to normal.
Exercise: Sometimes he is like a taught bow string, wanting to release the pressure with a good work out. This might be long flights, swims or even better gold or green flights. He is powerful and likes to demonstrate that on some level.
Storms: Branth is fascinated by storms, be they full blown cyclones or just little summer squalls. He will make every effort to be outside and feel the wind in his face.

Dislikes:
Chaos: When things get confusing he is a very unhappy young dragon. He will very much need to depend on his rider to keep him focused if things get too confusing or beyond anything he understands.
Boredom: He is still young and can be a easily distracted. Naps in the sun are all well and good but if given too much free time without something to keep him occupied he will get very fidgety.
Puzzles: Branth doesn't like when things are hidden from him or if it's too difficult to figure out. Mysteries will annoy him. He likes his universe neat, ordered and predictable.

Strengths:
Endurance: His stamina in the air will be quite remarkable. While not the most maneuverable of dragons he can fly for a LONG time.
Patience: He can wait a long time for something if need be and keep working towards goals that take a long time to complete. As long as he understands what is at stake he can focus for a long time by dragon standards.
Eye to flame coordination: Branth has some skill with seeing and quickly flaming a target. Once thread starts to fall he will be a force to be reckoned with.

Flaws:
Fidgety: He tends to fidget and shift around a lot if bored or annoyed. Branth wont be one to suffer through such things in silence.
Hunger: He is a growing dragon after all. At least for the first few years of his life his appetite will be quite remarkable and will require more effort than usual to keep his belly full.
Gruff: He is a bit gruff and stand offish to other dragons unless he knows them well. Not above the occasional snarky comment if one of them seems to be acting the fool. And don't even get him started about the fire lizards...
Deep Sleeper: Once he does get to sleep it's hard to rouse him. The Weyr could be on fire, or even erupting in Ista's case, and he would sleep right through it. It will take a lot to rouse him from a good nap.

The riders hall. K'dyn paused just outside the entrance and frowned thoughtfully. He was a full fledged rider now and no longer a weyrling. It was going to take awhile to become accustomed to that thought. Though he and Branth hadn't been assigned to a wing yet it was only a matter of time till they were. Then the real work of bettering themselves would start.

He was anxious to begin that work to be honest. While learning a lot in classes it would be like an entirely different world in the wings and training for the inevitable return of thread. Some didn't believe it would be back but K'dyn knew different. The dragons and their riders were here for a reason and that reason was to burn thread out of the sky. Besides, it was all there in the threadfall charts from the past if one cared to look for it. Long interval or no the thread would fall again.

Today though wasn't time for  dwelling on that. Now he had to, in a very real way, spread his wings a bit. The young brownrider had grown more accustomed to people and more sociable during his time in the weyrling barracks. Now he had to enter the world of the adult riders and claim a place for himself. A bit daunting for a young man as socially inept as he was but there was no help for it. With a heavy sigh he stepped through the door and made his way to a group of people who were gathered around a table. Looking to see what had gathered so much attention he saw two men locked in a bout of arm wrestling with onlookers cheering them on and placing bets. As good a place to start as any he supposed.

"Who do you think will win?" he asked simply to the nearest rider.
