“Attention, everyone!” Gabrin called out from atop the chair he stood upon so he could tower above the crowd filling his home. He grinned when everyone quieted down and turned their attention his way, finished off his drink, and jumped back down to the ground.
The empty glass was placed on a nearby table and a full glass picked up in its place. He moved a few feet over to where he had left Ekshan and put an arm around the man’s shoulders. “Many of you know my assistant, Ekshan, but what you may or may not know is that today is also his birthday. So tonight, we drink and be merry in his name. To Ekshan!” Gabrin raised his glass as others followed his lead and took a large swig of the fine wine he had brought out for the occasion.
As the guests cheered and returned to their conversations, Gabrin pulled Ekshan aside with a slightly wicked grin in place. “Another taste of the fine life, my friend. Welcome to the world of fabulous parties where you are not only a guest but the guest of honour. Go, mingle, and enjoy yourself, Ekkie.” Gabrin patted Ekshan on the shoulder and gave him a light shove to the back to get him moving. His darling little Ekshan so desperately wanted this life but still seemed reserved and almost shy when he was given a taste. Tonight, Gabrin hoped the man would branch out a bit.
And be entertaining as he did so.
Smirking, Gabrin slipped off to do a bit of mingling himself as he kept a casual eye on his assistant.
