Month 05, 741 AL

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 06, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries: Season, Low to High
Ista Boundaries: Season, Low to High

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Month 09, 739 AL
North: Early Autumn| South: Early Spring
13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself uncommonly warm (~12C / 53.6) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

The late-season weather is settling, with much of the Northern hemisphere coated in snow (the exception being the much warmer Ista region) while Katila remains humid and sweltering in the height of Summer.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future.

December 2017

And so it is December! Can’t believe how fast this year is flying by! At any rate, we have LOTS of fun for you this month! For starters, why don’t you sign up for our Secret Santa Event! Pairs will be assigned on the 14th! You can sign your character(s) up as a Giver, a Receiver or Both! We also hope that you enjoy our Christmas layout, which will be available for use for the entire month of December! After that, it will go into hiding until next Christmas!

We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!

This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!

November 2017

Welcome to November! We'd love it if you would take the time to Vote in our Horrifying Moments threads! We will also be awarding Stamps for people who vote, not just those who took part! We hope you enjoyed this event as much as we did! You can see the Stamps that will be awarded in the Horrifying Moment's thread.

This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!

October 2017

Welcome to October! As part of our Halloween celebrations, the Horrifying Moments event is now open! You may START a thread at any point during the month of October to qualify it for the event! We hope you have a lot of fun with this event, and we look forward to reading your threads! Don't forget to "Like" the threads you enjoy most, so we can award someone the MOST HORRIFYING stamp! Stamps will be revealed later in the month!

September 2017

Welcome to September! This month, we're working on our Awards for the site! We are also advertising avidly! Please welcome any guests or new members with all that warm charm we know you all posess! That said, we are still seeking Affiliates, so if you're here to drop an ad, please consider us!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

D’hys wasn’t one to spend too much time in the North despite dragonriders earning more trust and gaining more freedom to go where they pleased without being shunned. He liked what the Katila region could provide for him in the way of keeping physically fit and fed but it was also a fun playground of people he could manipulate, use as he wished, and even ruled. Sure, R’nya was the Wingleader and bronzerider that was left in charge of Katila but since he was R’nya’s Second and the man didn’t like to do too much of the actual work, D’hys found he had a lot more sway than most would believe.

That being said, he still made a rare appearance in the North to attend gathers or run an errand that involved finding out new gossip or bartering items. R’nya also had a habit of making sure his wing enjoyed themselves and got out from time to time and sent them North to relax for a day. Of course D’hys noticed that usually happened on days that R’nya didn’t have a need to make his own trip to Telgar thanks to having plans with one of the annoying goldriders flitting about.

Since the goldriders were doing exactly that, D’hys took up the suggestion to check out Telgar’s market to see what was available and what was in demand and headed out late morning.

They greeted the watch dragon when they appeared above the Telgar region and circled down, not at all in a rush. D’hys figured he had plenty of time to poke around the market, catch a bite to eat, perhaps find some entertainment, and if he was lucky, find out more about R’nya’s favourite current distraction. Zeianth sighed at his rider’s plans but didn’t object to any of it since it made D’hys happy and he always seemed able to reign in before he got too out of hand, and made himself comfortable in the sun to spend his day napping.

As it turned out, the marketplace was rather boring but D’hys made a mental note that there wasn’t a wide variety of fresh fruits in stock at the moment. If they wanted to continue buttering up the Holders, bribing them with some of the fruit they had in the South wouldn’t hurt. As he was contemplating where to go for lunch and a strong drink, a pretty little thing caught his eye and D’hys watched her for a moment. She seemed familiar, though it was hard to say why. Not many trips were made to Telgar and he doubted she was once a resident in Katila given the innocence she radiated.

It finally came to him that she had to have been one of the ladies he flirted with at Turnover, playing up his charms and leading her on in the way she so clearly desperately wanted to be led. He couldn’t remember her full name, only knowing it sounded similar to the coral found in parts of the ocean, and figured that would be enough to make it seem like he was giving her a friendly nickname and like they had formed a strong bond that night.

A flower was grabbed from a poorly attended to stand as D’hys made his way down to where the girl was standing, checking out something. He came up behind her and held out the flower so it would be in her view, “a pretty flower for a pretty lady?”

She loved the market. Even on days when she didn't buy anything it was still fun to look around and talk with the vendors she knew. Half the fun was in chattering about this or that and exchanging the latest gossip. Most gossip revolved around dragonriders these days. Where they'd been seen last whose son or occasionally daughter had been searched. Which Holds still hadn't warmed up to them or how some long lost relation had returned home to visit. It was all very excited and helped to fill up much of her day, which was by and large rather empty. Se'd had no offers of marriage or even that much interest shown. Most were hoping for a better match than the daughter of some minor Holder, and being from High Reaches wasn't always a good thing. Most political discussions flew right over her head, but she did know that Telagar's Lord holder wasn't too happy with the dragonriders, while High Reaches was. Few wanted to risk angering their Lord Holder just to see a son wed.

Cora was admiring a pretty array of cloaks a tailor was offering. He was a talented man, with a plump and smiling wife who managed most of the sales of his pre-made items. She also always seemed to have some new bit of gossip to share about this and that. Most of it was probably untrue, but Cora didn't really mind. The woman was currently attempting to sell a skirt to another young woman so Cora filling in the time as she waited to learn the latest gossip.

The appearance of a hand grasping a flower entering her vision and coupled with a masculine voiced compliment caused her to give a gasping squeak of surprise. She turned, her eyes moving from the flower up the arm and to an almost too handsome face. "D’hys!" She said in delighted surprise, one hand fluttering around her neck as she smiled shyly at the man. It felt like a dream come to life to have the rider, who had filled her waking and sleeping thoughts for quite a while after the Gather, standing right in front of her. He'd been everything her girlish mind had ever conjured up about what a dragonrider would be like. Charming, polite, dashing, and incredibly good looking. She'd dreamed of seeing him again and now here he was.

"Thank you!" She said, accepting the flower and holding it up to her nose as she inhaled the scent, eyes drifting shut for a moment. Cora smiled again, her cheeks flushed as she twirled the stem of the bloom between her fingers. She wasn't usually that comfortable with men, not with so much pressure on her to make a good impression. D'hys had been so sweet to her at the Gather, dancing and getting her something to drink and being attentive in all the ways a true gentleman should be. Nothing at all like what she'd heard some people saying about them and their habits. He'd even bought a flower for her, how sweet and kind was that.

"I wasn't expecting to see you here. Are you shopping to?" She asked, looking up at him with a hopeful expression. If he was she'd be able to show him all the best vendors. Any chance to lengthen her time with him was a worthwhile pursuit.

D’hys watched Coralaese act like a typical girl and all but swoon on the spot from receiving a smile and a flower. He barely refrained from rolling his eyes as hers shut while sniffing the silly thing that was days away from dying. He may have been a mama’s boy that learned to cook and held onto her apron strings when he was little, but D’hys had never figured out why it was so important to women to have someone cut off a flower from its life support so they could have it for a few days of prettiness and feeling special. If they were being used for medicine or cooking, that was entirely different but to garner the reaction he had just received from the girl before him, it never stopped boggling his mind.

At least Coralaese was typical and predictable. It would make playing her that much easier. A challenge was always nice, and he suspected there would be a few with her regardless, but cementing a place in her heart seemed like it’d be smooth sailing just from the usual tricks. She was a sweet girl that only wanted a man to notice her and to love her; which was a lot like some of the holder girls that came to Katila over the years to try their luck at Impressing a gold.

In fact, she reminded D’hys a lot of Rhaedalyn and the game he had started playing on Turnover was much like what Z’ia had been up to. D’hys had a new level of admiration for his fellow bluerider after that stunt. Z’ia had played the girl a lot longer than he had been given credit for and the way he broke it off was pure genius. What impressed D’hys even more was how Z’ia got away with it. R’nya hadn’t beat the living crap out of Z’ia and it didn’t seem like his innocent charming character had been damaged.

Rhaedalyn seemed to have come out of somewhat well in the end after some rocky moments but D’hys wondered if Coralaese would follow in her steps. After all, she was flirting with a dragonrider, a blue one at that, and that already had to be a strike against her according to some.

“I was browsing mostly. I have the day off and thought I’d get away from it all for a bit. What better place than the market of a large Hold?” D’hys grinned as he glanced around the bustling area. It was certainly a good place to get lost in the shuffle if one really wanted to, but with his physique and good looks, he knew he’d always stand out.

“I was thinking about lunch now, though. Do you happen to know of a good place to eat? A personal favourite, perhaps?”

Cora stole quick glances of D'hys, her heart pounding away in her chest like a harper's drum. It sounds so loud in her ears she was worried the entire market was able to hear it, but if D'hys noticed he was too much of a gentleman to mention it. Standing there with him was like having one of the heros from the stories she read step right off the page. She was tempted to pinch herself just to make sure it wasn't a dream. The flower remained firmly held, an keepsake she would hide away at the end of the day between the pages of a favorite book. Once dried she'd have it as a reminder of D'hys as today.

She nodded agreeably, following the Bluerider's glance around the busy market. They were already drawing a few curious glances or outright stares, well D'hys was anyway. Dragonriders were still an uncommon enough sight that they received at least a bit of notice. Cora should have been worried about being seen with a dragonrider especially a Bluerider, but such a mindset was beyond her. It wasn't in her nature to care about such things or to wonder why D'hys would be interested in someone like her in the first place. Her sheltered life had shielded her from less than honorable behavior that some were capable of, allowing her to exist in her own made up world where such things simply didn't exist.

Her eyes lit up with her eagerness to please, head bobbing as she found her voice. "Yes, there is a lovely tavern not to far from here." It was actually the only place, outside of the main hold, that she'd ever eaten at. It was a well run establishment, clean and generally not too rowdy, at least not during the few times she'd been there. She'd also seen dragonrider in there so she knew D'hys would be welcome. "I can show you it's only a few minutes walk." She offered, gaze hopeful as she imagined them sharing a quiet meal with the man.

“I’d like that; lead on, my lady,” D’hys smiled at the girl and gestured for her to take the lead. He really hadn’t learned the layout of Telgar yet and while he had a general idea where a tavern would best be located, he wasn’t about to pretend he knew where he was going. It was also painfully obvious that Coralaese wanted to impress him so it added to his overall amazingness in her eyes to do just that and have her point out somewhere she liked that he would approve of.

When they arrived at the tavern, D’hys regarded the sign with a raised eyebrow. The Whetstone Tavern. Either the original owner had ties to blacksmithing or they just wanted to appeal to the smiths in the region. Either way, it looked decent on the outside and once he stepped in, after holding open the door for his companion, D’hys chalked the place up as being clean and likely reputable.

“Hi, welcome back, Coralaese,” a friendly voice greeted them as D’hys gestured to a table off to the side where he’d have a good view of the room with his back to a wall. “And welcome to the Whetstone, dragonrider. We have a few that come down from the Weyr regularly and they are indeed always welcomed here. Anyway, I’m guessing you’re here for the food, not for random chitchat with the staff, so I’ll be right back with some plates.” The woman walked off and D’hys gave a subtle glance, approving of her appearance both from the front and back. No wonder dragonriders were fond of coming to the tavern if she was always around.

Turning his attention fully back to Coralaese, he held a chair out for her and then took the seat opposite her. “I can see why you like it here. If she’s anything to go off of, the staff here are friendly and attentive. Now to see if the food lives up to my standards,” he laughed, showing he was joking around, though in truth, he did have some standards left for food. His mother had been excellent in the kitchen and he had picked up some of her secrets before the plague.

Unchaste delight lit up Cora's face when D'hys accepted her offer. She set off at a quick yet lady like pace, the sort that had been drilled into her from a young age. A lady didn't dally but arriving at one's destination breathless was not acceptable either. Part of her wanted to skip the entire way, but that definitely wasn't ladylike. She glanced back over her shoulder at regular intervals both to make sure D'hys was keeping up and to reassure herself that she hadn't just made the entire interaction up.

Blushing, she murmured a thank you as D'hys held the door for her. Cora greeted the woman with a warm smile and a friendly hello, relaxing once D'hys received an equally warm greeting. She liked the place with it's cozy atmosphere that for her was far outside the norm.  Secretly she felt just a little bit deviant whenever she came to the tavern, though she would never have said so. Dining with D'hys made her feel even more so even if dragonriders were slowly becoming a more commonplace sight about the hold.

Cora slipped into her seat, flashing D'hy's an adoring smile before smoothing her skirt into place so it was draped just so. She laughed along with him growing more enamored with the man with each new word and action. He was so different from the young men she normally met. "Oh yes they are all just as lovely." She assured him. "I hope it does live up to your standards or else I shall never be able to forgive myself for recommending it." She smiled back, and in all likely hood she would be crushed if the food wasn't up to his standards.

She twirled the flower she still held between her fingers, watching the petals spin and blur for a moment. "Do you have any family at Telgar?" She asked looking up to meet his gaze. Many of the riders did still have family in the North. Perhaps if D'hys had a well placed relation her association would be better received. Having a dragonrider in the family had been something to brag about not so long ago. She wasn't sure if there were in in her family line, but decided that there must be. The Weyr had always possessed a certain attraction for younger sons and the base born hoping to take a step up in the world.

“At Telgar? Hm, I don’t believe so,” D’hys liked being in the know and staying a few steps ahead of everyone else as it made it easier to strategize in both survival and play time but he had yet to find any traces of forgotten family in the Telgar region. “I’m from Igen Weyr so I may still have some family in that area and possibly some more in the region that was beholden to Benden. But, it’s been so long and given I age much more slowly now, I’ve been hesitant to look closely.”

He gave a sad smile and looked away, feigning genuine distress over discussing such things with too much more detail. He actually did know that both of his sisters he had abandoned to insure Zeianth’s health were alive with families of their own. He also knew his dear little cousin was alive and well in Katila with that extended family doing all right in Benden Hold’s area. This girl, however, seemed like she would want to keep his secrets but would end up slipping up along the way and blabbing everything. He’d give her minor tidbits here and there to make her feel important but she didn’t need to know about a cousin that knew him but didn’t know they were related.

Coralaese also likely wouldn’t appreciate thinking too closely on the little fact he pointed out that he aged slower. The girl no doubt didn’t have any idea of what his true age was since he didn’t look much older than her and she had to be no older than twenty. Then again, at least in the Weyr, women seemed to enjoy the company of older men so finding out he was twice her age could be a turn on. Or she was so desperate for someone to want her that she didn’t care, especially if he was as hot as he was. D’hys barely contained an eye roll at how easy it was going to be to play her.

D’hys smiled as the waitress came over with the promised food and thanked her before she was off again to get some drinks for another table. He took a moment to inspect the food, giving it a pass for appearance and turned his smile onto Coralaese. “Well, here’s to finding out if we stay and enjoy the meal together or if I have to suddenly leave do to some made up reason or another,” his smile turned into a large grin to show he was joking around before taking the first bite. It was indeed rather enjoyable, certainly better than some of the meals that had been served in Katila and decided the tavern was quickly becoming a decent place to spend time in when in Telgar. “Look at that, those urgent plans no longer need my attention so I can stay and enjoy a nice meal with pleasant company.”

She gave herself a mental kick when a sad smile crossed D'hys face. She'd been doing rather well for her, up until that point at least. Conversations were just so tricky, and she was forever stumbling into the pitfalls a more seasoned lady would have avoided. Cora hastily stammered out an apology for bringing up such an upsetting topic. He was being so kind and thoughtful and she'd gone and put her foot right in it.

With her distress over D'hys distress she barely registered his comment about aging more slowly. She'd heard a little bit about it, but didn't realize just how much more slowly riders aged. In her mind D'hys could have only been a few years older than she was, certainly not about twice her age. Her innocent and trusting mind couldn't readily consider such things. D'hys looked around her age so that was what he must be. Even if she'd put two and two together it was unlikely to change her opinion about D'hys. Older lords often married younger ladies, though she didn't like to dwell upon their reasons for it which likely had little to do with love and more to do with producing heirs.

Cora was plucking worried at one sleeve when the food arrived, her relief at the distraction quickly giving way to nerves once more. Now she had to worry about if the food was up to the man's standards. She managed a wobbly smile and nervous laugh as Dhy's took his first bite, holding her breath as she awaited his verdict. Cora sagged just a little once the food passed the test, grinning as she took a bite of her own. "You have put my mind at ease sir." She answered, blushing as she spoke. She'd always thought the tavern's food was rather good, but if D'ys had pronounced it unfit for consumption she wouldn't have argued.

Her confidence was somewhat restored now that the food had been deemed worthy of the Bluerider. A number of questions teemed inside her mind, but she was determined to be a little more careful this time about what she asked. "Is Katila much different from the North? I have only ever been from High Reaches to Telgar. It must be wonderful to be so well traveled." She said, a bit wistful. Before coming to Telgar she hadn't gone any farther than the main hold at High Reaches once or twice a year. Dragonriders though could pop between the North and South within moments, unconstrained by a lengthy overland journey.
