Kahleena toppled out of bed with a squeal and landed on the floor in an ungainly heap, blinking up at the roof of her small hut with a startled expression. She hadn’t fallen out of a bed since she was a child! Outside, she could hear the soft rumbling laughter of Okalinath as the golden beast peered in through the window to look down at where her human was a crumpled mess of hair and blankets on the floor. Are you alright, love? The dragons soft voice was gentle as it brushed against her mind, and Kahleena struggled to sit up and flashed a smile toward the beast. “Yeah, I’m okay.” Piking herself up, Kahleena brushed down her nightgown and frowned at the blankets all over the floor. Sighing deeply, the girl picked them up and tossed them back onto her bed. She’d sort that out later!

The young woman dressed neatly, a long and flowing split skirt that allowed her to look properly feminine while also allowing her the ease of riding Okalinath should she opt to do so, a tidy and clean shirt buttoned up and a belt sash around her waist. While the rest of her was taken care of, the young woman’s hair was simply brushed out of her face and left to fly free and tangle, as it was wont to do, as she slipped on a pair of light shoes and skittered out the front door, snuggling Okalinath’s face in greeting and kissing her on the muzzle. Climbing on board, the pair made their way to greet their Weyrlingmaster, as they did every morning, so that he could look over Okalinath and make sure she was healthy and (as was Kahleena’s constant fear) not about to shoot into the sky like a golden beacon of glory. When they got the nod of approval, the pair made their way to breakfast, Okalinath dropping Kahleena off at the Hall while she herself went hunting.

Slipping through the Hall with her head bowed to avoid attention, Kahleena gathered up a breakfast, and a lunch, filling a large basket with sweet fruits and dried meats, bread and some meatrolls, flashing a timid smile at one of the cook’s assistants when they greeted her before fleeing the Hall entirely, basket in hand, as she ran in a flurry of skirts across the Weyr, completely without any of the dignity she was quite capable of retaining. Flushed and breathless, Kahleena stopped by R’nya’s hut, knocking on the door before singing out a soft, “you promised!” A flurry of soft giggle as Xyreith peered around a corner at her and the young woman left, dashing toward the edge of the Forests, the basket left beside the hut for R’nya to carry.

“Rhae!” Kahleena called, her voice hovering somewhere between quiet and excited as she tried not to call undue attention upon herself while attracting the attention of Rhaedalyn. “Morning!” Kahleena gushed breathlessly as she came to a stop beside the other girl, cheeks flushed and eyes bright.

While Kahleena was busy preparing food for the excursion, Rhaedalyn spent the time looking for her favourite hat. Mevrit had cleaned the entire living space again and, as always, nothing could be found. Her side of the room wasn’t that messy! She knew exactly – more or less – where everything was kept but when her good-intentioned roommate felt inclined to clean, it always left Rhaedalyn spending extra time hunting. No doubt Muffin and Rumour, her two blue firelizards, had moved it as well. Those two were a handful! They loved to play but thankfully her sweet golden Whisper liked to quietly point items when she was in the mood to side with the hand that fed them.

Eventually the floppy hat was found and Rhaedalyn tied her hair back low at the neck and slipped the hat on. They would be spending most of the time out in the forest but Rhaedalyn still didn’t like the hot summer sun beating down on her and liked the slight protection and shade the brim of her hat offered to her head, face, and neck. She had dashed off to the meeting spot soon after that with three excited firelizards circling about her as she went.

By the time Kahleena arrived, Rhaedalyn was sitting on the ground giving a belly rub to Whisper while the blues chased each other around. As always, a long flowing skirt was worn with a modest top but that never stopped her from sitting where she pleased. What did it matter if she wore pants or a dress if the ground was going to be the same either way? At the call of her name, Rhaedalyn looked up, smiling – which she quickly covered out of habit – and jumped to her feet. “Hey, Kally! Did you bring him?” Rhaedalyn bounced on her tip toes and looked around her friend a couple of times as if their tall and stoic bronzerider was actually hiding in the short goldrider’s shadow. “He promised he’d come,” a pout was given, which would only increase if R’nya didn’t come or even if he showed up late. The poor man had received more than his fair share of pouts but that never stopped the girl from giving more.

R’nya had been waiting, sitting quietly at the table after he had finished his morning routine. It was, after all, only a matter of time before he was accosted by half a fair of firelizards, or a pair of giggling girls on his doorstep. As he moved to put away his mug after his latest glass of klah, there was a soft knock on the door and a soft, barely heard ‘you promised!’ floated through. R’nya turned slowly toward the door, waiting to see if it would actually open. She ran off. There is a basket here. A pause. You have better things to do, than babysit a pair of stupid girls. R’nya arched an eyebrow at his dragon, and silenced him without focusing on any particular thought as he pulled his boots on and made his way out of the hut. The basket received an amused glance, before he picked it up and poked through it curiously as he made his way to the meeting place.

Stormy grey eyes looked up as he passed the last of the huts and the cover on the basket was patted lightly back into place, the bronzeriders usual stoic expression falling back into place with ease as he spotted the two young women bouncing around together with the fair of firelizards he had been expecting to pull him out of bed before the sun had even risen; it wouldn’t have been the first time! You let them get away with too much. I enjoy their company. Xyreith huffed, and flicked a wing in distaste as he sprawled out elegantly in the early morning sun, grunting distastefully when Okalianth took it upon herself to join him, the young gold landing a few feet away and sitting demurely. Xyreith eyed her distrustfully.

“Good morning, ladies.” R’nya greeted the young pair with a modest half-bow, adjusting the basket he had been dumped with to the other arm. “Shall we?” The bronzerider watched the firelizards fluttering around for a moment before turning his attention expectantly upon the young women.

Kahleena shook her head slightly, long blonde hair flying in every direction as Rhaedalyn tried to look past her, apparently hoping R’nya would appear from behind her skirts. Even the impassive bronzerider wasn’t quite that good at popping up out of nowhere! … Right? Kahleena spun around to make sure the man wasn’t truly creeping along behind her, and then giggled at her own folly. “I knocked on his door,” She giggled again, tossing Rhaedalyn a cheerful grin, “and left the basket for him.” She turned to look back towards the huts before trying valiantly to coax one of the happily playing blues out of the sky and into her eager arms.

He comes, love. Okalinath’s voice was gentle as she bespoke her distracted human, amused fondness clear as Kahleena tilted her head and then squealed happily, likely startling the firelizards that had been swirling around her. “He’s coming!” It was a childish singsong, but Kahleena didn’t care, and her voice wasn’t quite bad enough for those required syllables to break any glass! Okalinath gave an amused snort as she settled down near Xyreith, watching the great bronze beast with all the airs of innocence she could put on. After a moment, she crept towards him with an almost feline grace, pausing dramatically after half a step; Xyreith’s distrustful stare did little to deter the young beast as she crept forward another half a foot.

“Hello R’nya!” Kahleena greeted with a flourished curtsy when R’nya came to a halt behind them, the girl brushing her hair out of her face with an unconscious flick of her hand. Sparkling brown eyes noted the basket and the patient expression and Kahleena beamed excitedly. “Oh yes!”  Spinning towards her friend, Kahleena wove her arm through Rhaedalyn’s and tugged the other girl anxiously towards the forest.

Rhaedalyn giggled at Kahleena leaving the basket for R’nya to bring. She could imagine him eyeing it, one eyebrow raised as he did so, before dutifully bringing it along. Assuming he came, anyway! He better or she’d give him a huge trembling lower lip and sad eyes if he didn’t! A stern lecture on how rude it was to promise and then leave two women waiting would be attempted but Rhaedalyn wasn’t sure how far she’d get into it. It was hard to keep such anger going, especially when the target was not only a friend but a man. It didn’t matter that R’nya turned her down when she needed his assistance which made her feel awkward around him for far longer than it seemed to bother him – if it did at all; he was so hard to read! Luckily, she wouldn’t find out any time soon how lecturing the bronzerider would go as he suddenly appeared leaving the curly haired girl to blink wide eyes at him. She was convinced he could between without a dragon!

“Good morning, R’nya!” Rhaedalyn greeted a moment after getting over her surprise. Another giggle was quick to follow as the firelizards, having scattered after Kahleena’s squeal, took to circling the bronzerider in greeting. Rumour and Whisper seemed especially fond of him while Muffin went to Kahleena after his initial greeting and took up residence on the girl’s shoulder to lick her cheek before taking off again. Rhaedalyn didn’t mind her friends being people of interest to her fair since they could be such a handful at times and this gave her a bit to relax. It was also nice having people that liked them! She loved V’zire but he was still skittish around firelizards and she did her best to keep them from bothering the greenrider.

Rhaedalyn squeaked her way out of the giggle as Kahleena pulled her into interlocking their arms to make their way into the forest. She laughed openly, forgetting to hide the smile as she skipped along beside Kahleena. “You’re sure we didn’t miss the end of the season, right?” Rhaedalyn had enough skills to know how to pluck flowers and arrange them prettily in vases but she wasn’t an expert on growing them or when they bloomed. Kahleena had assured her before that there would still be flowers in bloom for a few days more but it really didn’t bother her if they ended up with barely a handful. The point of the excursion was to get out and have some fun with friends and enjoy a light meal out in the open. It would be a fun day and that was the important part.

“Hurry up, slow poke!” Rhaedalyn teased over her shoulder as the girls skipped further ahead and away from R’nya. She imagined R’nya skipping and had to bite her lip from laughing for no apparent reason when the image made for a stiff and frowning bronzerider. Unfortunately for R’nya, she couldn’t keep it to herself and shared with Kahleena, knowing her friend would enjoy it as much as she was.

R’nya’s expression changed in a subtle, almost invisible manner as his gaze shifted to meet Rhaedalyn’s eyes, and he nodded his head slightly. Amusement was clear for the girls to see, the pair knowing the young man well enough to pick up on the light changes in him that were his way of subtly expressing the emotions most people thought he was completely devoid of. R’nya enjoyed being a shadow beyond most people’s radar; it kept them out of his personal space and left him alone to occupy both his time and his day as he pleased. While not against being put in a position of leadership, he much preferred the idle gossip and gentle companionship of the young women than he did the harsher realities of his fellow dragonriders. Foul mouths and coarser actions were not something R’nya enjoyed being around, generally speaking.

He got enough of that type of attitude from Xyreith.

R’nya watched with a twitch of the eyebrow as the two girls collided in an upbeat explosion of good nature and bounced off in the direction they were apparently going to head in for the time being. R’nya’s amusement was thick as he walked briskly along behind the two young women, mind wandering absently as he gazed around without any particular. Both eyebrows arched upward as Rhaedalyn’s teasing floated back to him, and he met her gaze with the same bland look he’d given her earlier. When she turned back and spoke to Kahleena, his eyes narrowed slightly in a manner part thoughtful, part wary as the other girl released a peal of laughter and glanced back over her shoulder to grin at him.

Oh dear.

What now?

I am not sure I want to know, R’nya replied, though the amusement and lingering curiosity belied his words and Xyreith snorted and went back to glaring distrustfully at Okalinath as the golden beast crept towards him like he was being stalked. Xyreith’s eyes suddenly flushed red and he sat up stiffly. He was not some golden whore’s dinner! The bronze dragon glared at her disdainfully, almost challenging the gold; it seemed to have little effect on Okalinath.

“Do I want to know what has you two giggling like that?” R’nya asked mildly, the dryness of his tone the only real indication of R’nya’s amusement by their antics. Whatever they were sniggering about, it was likely he didn’t want to know what it was. But curiosity was a difficult aspect to get a hold of, and while he wasn’t acting curious, or sounding curious, or giving away any indication that he was curious – R’nya was just about squirming to know what they were giggling about.

Xyreith was absolutely no help. He was far too busy puffing up indignantly at Okalinath.

“Positive,” Kahleena asserted cheerfully, tossing Rhaedalyn a blatant wink that gave her away. She wasn’t one hundred percent sure. It was more like… maybe, seventy five? Or perhaps eighty five? But it was more than twenty! Something like that, anyway! At any rate, Kahleena didn’t mind. They’d find some type of flower, she was sure – this was Katila, after all, and the sun was always shining (when it wasn’t pouring!) – so! There was bound to be some type of flower flowering that they could pick! Right? Right!

Kahleena glanced back as well, when Rhaedalyn sung her teasing comment at R’nya, and giggled joyfully at his flat expression. Her laughter rolled free joyfully when Rhaedalyn whispered to her, the sudden image of R’nya skipping too much for the young woman to handle, her free hand lifting joyfully to cover her mouth as she tried to contain her giddy glee at the very idea. R’nya, skipping! Looking back over her shoulder at the stiff bronzerider, Kahleena flashed him a bright grin.

“Giggling like what, R’nya?” Kahleena asked sweetly, batting her lashes playfully up at the bronzerider when he caught up with them. “We’re not – Okalinath!” Kahleena gasped, scandalised, as her dragon finally pounced upon the great bronze dragon, knocking solidly into him and chirping playfully, completely unfazed by the older, larger dragon’s complete lack of desire to play with her. Huge brown eyes set on R’nya, who simply raised an eyebrow at her in a manner Kahleena thought might have been his amused way, but she was too flustered to read him properly.

Xyreith is such a party pooper, Okalinath told the girls cheerfully, reaching out to include Rhaedalyn with a playful poke to the other girl’s mind. No sense of humour at all! She sounded positively charmed and Kahleena groaned softly, mortified. In a sudden desperate ditch effort to shift all attention away from herself and her disastrous dragon (Don’t be so dramatic, my love!) Kahleena caught R’nya’s eye and stared up at him even as she blurted breathlessly,  - “can you skip?”

She’s so awkward. Hahaha. Sorry I took forever ><

Rhaedalyn startled easily, especially when the person she had linked arms with was suddenly calling out, utterly scandalized. She yelped in surprise and physically jumped back a bit as if Kahleena might be going insane or about to flail around in distress. Large hazel eyes took in first her female friend and then the male, trying to figure out what was going on. R’nya seemed amused by it all but Kahleena looked ready to apologise for the rest of her life. It was only when Okalinath explained what was going on, in her own vague way, did Rhaedalyn catch on to what was happening.

The gold was a bit playful and Xyreith was anything but. In fact, Rhaedalyn was close to calling the bronze Grumpy Pants to his face with how bland he was about everything. It was obvious Okalinath had tried to play and did something silly that wasn’t appreciated by at least one dragon and one human. Unfortunately Rhaedalyn wasn’t that human a little giggle escaped before both hands flew to her mouth to stifle it. It wasn’t appropriate to laugh but the situation was a bit funny!

“Kahleena!” Rhaedalyn forgot her amusement of seconds ago when Kahleena jumped subjects. She was positively horrified that her friend would ask R’nya that! He was going to think they were making fun of him or challenging him to do silly things that he normally wouldn’t do. That wasn’t it at all! It was true they were giggling over the idea of their proper friend merrily skipping along, arms swaying as he smiled but only because it was so wrong. That wasn’t R’nya and now he was going to know they had been talking about him and would he prove that he could skip? She was both secretly hoping he would just so that image would stay with her forever and hoping he wouldn’t since it wouldn’t be dignified and R’nya most certainly was dignified!

Naturally, being the playful firelizard out of her group, Muffin took to circling R’nya and chirping at him in clear encouragement or possibly even a challenge. Rhaedalyn was blushing furiously as she waved her hands at the troublesome blue, trying to get him to leave the bronzerider alone. Couldn’t they just go pick flowers already?

While R’nya would have been inclined to play along with Kahleena’s game of sweet innocence, he was given no chance as Xyreith was suddenly throwing a tantrum, Kahleena was dying of horror, and Rhaedalyn was squealing and confused. R’nya resisted the urge to rub at his temples, and instead watched Kahleena withdraw in on herself with an amused arch of the eyebrow, not at all worried by the actions her dragon had taken, and pointedly ignoring Xyreith’s bad manners and filthy language. Where his bronze had picked up those phrases, R’nya did not want to know.

“It is fine, Kahl– ” R’nya fell off, as the girl suddenly asked a question born on a desperate breath; Rhaedalyn’s response to Khaleena’s question only further amused R’nya, who took the opportunity to step past the two scandalised women and continue walking so they wouldn’t see the laughing smile that flickered over his lips. “Of course I can,” he added vaguely, though he made no effort at all to prove his statement. An eyebrow arching on his now under control features, R’nya held up an arm invitingly to Muffin, encouraging the creature to land on it.

… If you skip for them… Xyreith’s voice was low, and full of threat as he glared balefully at Okalinath, who was completely unfazed by the bronze dragon’s grumpy mood.

Do not be silly, Xyreith. They have not begged nearly enough. Amusement was clear in R’nya’s tone, and Xyreith grumbled under his breath; then hissed at Okalinath when she began her game of stalking him once more. R’nya ignored him, turning around to study the two women with upraised eyebrows. “There are flowers over there.” And he pointed lightly toward a rather large tree, and a scattering of wild flowers that were surrounding its base. He was quite sure that would be enough to side track them – for now – but he had no doubt they’d be after him to skip and unlikely to let the matter rest until the day it happened.

That was okay. R’nya was stubborn too.

Kahleena flushed crimson when Rhaedalyn exclaimed her name, the girl shrinking back with a look of shame as she lowered her eyes, wringing her hands anxiously in front of her stomach. Worriedly, her eyebrows drew together and she glanced up at Rhaedalyn anxiously, just as R’nya answered her, walking past them both and the girl froze in confusion, brown eyes blinking rapidly.

“Did he just say...?” She whispered softly to Rhaedalyn, apparently forgetting her worry at Rhaedalyn being upset with her as she turned to stare dramatically after R’nya with huge eyes. R’nya could skip? That was… when did he even learn to skip? Had R’nya ever been a child? She was having a lot of trouble imagining the stiff and proper man as a bright and happy child… or any kind of child. Kahleena was pretty sure R’nya had just appeared – like a dragon out of between – made ready for life. Xyreith too, probably!

“Flowers?” Kahleena asked, blinking as she was startled out of her thoughts and tilting her head in confusion. “Wh – oh!” Giggling and blushing again, Kahleena turned to look in the direction R’nya had just indicated with his typical expression. A moment later, the girl was trotting over to brush her fingers over the petals, smiling as their light scent burst into the breeze at the action and she dropped gently to her knees, choosing the ones that looked the prettiest, and carefully using a small blade to cut them free from the rest of the plant.

When she had a few, Kahleena rose to her feet once more, and carefully brushed her skirts off, cradling the plants in her arms. Moving back to R’nya, whom she considered thoughtfully the entire way, Kahleena carefully arranged the flowers she had collected in the basket, before stepping away again, still frowning slightly. R’nya could skip?!

Muffin wanted to see the man skip to make the girls happy but he was on the selfish side of life as well and took to landing on the offered arm for some attention instead, forgetting his mission. He crooned at R’nya which Rumour didn’t like and the blue that was fond of the bronzerider voiced his displeasure and went for Kahleena to earn her love instead. It was a fair trade off! Rumour’s favourite for Muffin’s! Whisper seemed fed up with the antics and went off to sit in a patch of wildflowers.

“Yep…” Rhaedalyn stared in shock at R’nya’s back, barely believing what she had just heard. Was he just teasing them? Could he really skip? Was he going to show them now? Rhaedalyn didn’t want to chance missing the once in a lifetime experience and couldn’t tear her eyes away from the bronzerider as he continued walking. Even when he stopped and pointed out a spot of flowers, she wasn’t sure she should look away and continue with the purpose of their outing. Only when it seemed like R’nya had no intention of wandering around or skipping in place did Rhaedalyn follow Kahleena’s example and go in search of flowers.

The patch her friend went to was left for Kahleena to tend to as Rhaedalyn wandered a little further away to another tree. She was still within view of both of her companions so there wouldn’t be any issues like scaring them when they lost track of her or being suddenly attacked by a pack of wild felines or getting lost. She hadn’t gotten lost for quite some time and the last time Rhaedalyn still blamed Muffin for. If he hadn’t been so excited and zipping from one tree to another and getting her turned around, it wouldn’t have taken her an hour to find her way back through the forest and home. No one had missed her, however, since she made it back in time to wash her hands and join in for the evening meal and Rhaedalyn didn’t bring it up either. Some things people didn’t need to know!

Whisper grabbed one of the clipped flowers from Rhaedalyn and brought it over to R’nya, dropping it in the basket and chirping her excitement at helping. She hovered near the man long enough to see if she would earn praise either verbally or with a petting and went back to grab another flower. She, too, was fond of R’nya and thanks to Rhaedalyn’s active mind and dreaming about her true love giving her flowers, the little gold decided she could give flowers to R’nya to earn his affection. Whisper knew she’d get all the cuddles that way!

Rhaedalyn brought over her collection of flowers Whisper hadn’t taken from her and placed them delicately into the basket and looked around the area. “Should we look for another patch? I wonder if there’s any other types still in bloom.” She liked the kind they had come across but a little variety would really make their bouquets remarkable! “You can lead, R’nya.” It was Rhaedalyn’s attempt at being subtle so she could keep an eye on him in case he burst into a need to skip through the forest. She really didn’t want to miss it!

R’nya watched the two girls slowly pull themselves back together from his little comment and then skitter off to gather up the flowers with an expression of subtle amusement. The girls often amused the bronzerider; their mannerisms and easy personalities were charming to spend time with and he quite enjoyed the pointless expeditions such as the one they were on presently. Collecting flowers was hardly something R’nya considered important or even worthy of the time it took. However, it was certainly worth it to watch the girls dance around, giggle, and have fun. The Weyr life was often far too serious for its own good and a bit of freedom was more than a little good for them all. It was certainly far too nasty for such sweet girls!

“I expect there are, Rhaedalyn.” R’nya replied mildly to the girl’s musing, his attention turning away from Kahleena’s thoughtful frown to Rhaedalyn’s own expression of consideration. His lips twitched at the corners, stormy eyes brightening with amusement as R’nya bowed slightly to Rhaedalyn. “Of course, my lady,” the amusement was lingering on the edges of R’nya’s words and still flickering around the corner of his lips as he straightened up from the bow – that may have held a touch of teasing in it – and turned smartly on his heel.

The bronzerider smirked quietly to himself as he walked with careful, measured steps. Being someone that did not like to be in the spotlight – at all – the bronzerider was painfully aware of the two sets of pretty brown eyes staring avidly at his back as he lead the way further into the trees. “There are some flowers, ahead,” he threw back over his shoulder, turning to look at the girls after carefully controlling his features. As the girls moved off to collect them, R’nya looked around, picking another path at random when each set of cross-roads appeared, and pointing out little gatherings of flowers when he spotted them.

The sun was high, filtering down through the thick foliage to dapple the little party in shade when R’nya decided it would be a good time to stop for something to eat. The girls hadn’t made so much as a peep of complaint, but the bronzerider could tell they were beginning to run low on energy by the way their steps were growing slower, and they weren’t quite as fast to dash off towards the next group of flowers he pointed out. Stormy grey eyes sought out somewhere pleasant to sit, the man picking a clear spot under a large tree, and he moved towards it, calling to Kahleena as he went.

“What did you pack us for lunch, Lady Kahleena?”

“Food!” Kahleena teased, giggling playfully as she gathered up another lot of flowers, being careful to only take the best looking ones and leave the others where they were. There was no point in taking the whole bush home! She might as well start her own garden if she was going to do that, and that would mean there wouldn’t be such a wonderful excuse to escape the Weyr and drag R’nya around collecting such pretty plants. He obviously enjoyed it! He’d even told them he could skip, though there had been no evidence of any such thing. Well, there would be plenty more expeditions in the future for him to be pulled into such un-R’nya like behaviour!

With her arms full, Kahleena dashed to catch up to where R’nya was now poking through the basket, dropping the flowers into his lap and slapping his hands away playfully. Bronzeriders were certainly not meant to wait on a couple of silly girls! Smiling when R’nya settled back without a fuss, Kahleena produced some plates from the top of the basket, and put one before R’nya, and the other was place where Rhaedalyn would undoubtedly sit, while her own was put down to make a neat little triangle. Further digging through the basket produced little bread rolls, a nice chunk of rich cheese, some cold meat from the night before, and a selection of the locally available fruits.

“I wanted to grab something nicer for dessert,” she apologised, “but they hadn’t started cooling any of tonight’s desserts yet.” She grinned impishly, as if stealing dessert was the  naughtiest thing ever and helped herself to the available foods, putting a slice of cheese and meat onto some bread and nibbling at it absently as she listened to the silence around them. It was the quiet, comfortable silence of the woods returning to normal after being disturbed.

Pulling a piece of meat free, Kahleena offered it with a gentle smile to Muffin, watching him guzzle it down with a giggle. Where he put all the tidbits she fed him, Kahleena had no idea, but she was glad it wasn’t turning him into a fat little ball! Then she’d have to stop, and that would be just heartbreaking! How could she ever say no to adorable little Muffin?! “Why would I ever need my own firelizard,” she teased playfully, offering Muffin another small piece of meat, “when I have yours to spoil?” A playful smile was given to Rhaedalyn.

Rhaedalyn had been keeping a careful watch on her flitters, R’nya in case he suddenly had a case of simply having to skip then and there, and looking out for more flowers. It was definitely starting to wear her down by the time resting for a bit and eating were suggested. The mere thought of sitting and relaxing with her friends perked Rhaedalyn up enough that she was the one nearly skipping from her little patch to drop the last few flowers into the basket before what would almost be considered as an inelegant flopping into the vacant spot.

“Everything looks wonderful to me, Kally! The fruit especially, so you don’t need to worry over that,” she smiled warmly at the gold weyrling before plucking up a piece of the now-hyped up fruit and popping it in her mouth. It really was good! Kahleena seemed to have skills when it came to grabbing the juiciest morsels so Rhaedalyn certainly didn’t have anything to complain. Complaints weren’t issued when Muffin pounced for the offered piece of meat. It made her life easier when someone else helped with her fair. Muffin alone sometimes felt like five firelizards! A coy little glance to R’nya was given to see if he’d follow suit and give in to Whisper sitting prettily between them, not saying a word but occasionally tossing a look to the bronzerider from the meat that was on his plate. “Muffin and I appreciate your spoiling of him!” She giggled, watching as Muffin looked expectantly at Kahleena for more.

Rumour was given a piece for his good behaviour when he landed on Rhaedalyn’s shoulder and followed Whisper in not making a fuss. He likely would soon enough by stealing a piece here and there but for the moment he was going to be the best blue anyone had ever seen. Rhaedalyn knew his tricks but she found them kind of cute and ended up not being able to break him of the habit.

As for herself, Rhaedalyn put a nice chunk of cheese on a slice of bread and nibbled on it as she gazed around the forest and listened to the sounds that only nature could produce. Birds chirping and the breeze rustling leaves were extremely relaxing and it made for good background noise to lull her into daydreams. Since she was with friends, however, Rhaedalyn tried her best not to get too caught up over how a stroll with a loved one through the forest would be romantic with a nice picnic to enjoy like they were currently doing. Thankfully, her flitters helped in playing a distraction and when Rumour hopped free of her shoulder to land on R’nya’s other side, Rhaedalyn giggled again but let him be.

“Did you have any other plans later today, Ren?” Rhaedalyn was genuinely curious but she knew she was also playing as a distraction for her sneaky blue. He liked a bit of  challenge and while Rumour adored R’nya, he also liked to see if he could one-up the man that always seemed to know everything.

R’nya shot Kahleena a dry, albeit mildly amused look at her chirped response, shaking his head to himself as he set about poking through the basket until she batted him away and took control. The bronzerider placed the flowers that had been dumped in his lap into the other basked in which they were being gathered, and quietly checked in on Xyreith before he politely accepted the plate of food he was handed by the cheerful weyrling. “Thank you.”

R’nya watched the girls feeding the firelizards, pulling a little bit of meat free of his own food to offer it lightly to Whisper, more than pleased when she did not attempt to eat his fingers in the process. That would be all he needed; needle marks in his fingers! When she relocated to his knee, R’nya gave the firelizard a droll, bemused look and raised an eyebrow at her as he carefully moved his plate of food out of her immediate reach. With the plate quite safe, R’nya began the process of eating his own slice of bread, layered with a slice of meat and some cheese.

“Not particularly,” R’nya murmured, offering Whisper a crumble of cheese and watching her eat it with amusement. Dainty little creature! He took a bite of his own food and chewed thoughtfully, watching the little gold preen. What was she so pleased about? What did he have to do today? Not a whole lot, as far as he could recall. He had planned to keep the day free so he could spend it with the girls, though he decided to keep that to himself after a moment of thought. It would likely prove more fun.

You can bathe me. Xyreith put in, irritation rolling off his tone as he eyed Okalinath with a grumpy expression. I’m covered in gold spit. R’nya’s eyebrows shot up and his gaze flickered to Kahleena, lips pursed flat in amusement. “Apparently your dragon is chewing on mine.”

Kahleena flashed Rhaedalyn a bright grin at her approval for Muffin spoilage, the girl offering the blue firelizard in question another piece of her food when he peered up at her with such an adorable expression. The girl crooned softly under her breath at him, thoroughly enchanted before taking another bite of her own food, catching Rhaedalyn’s eye by accident. The glance alerted her to the actions of little Rumour, and Kahleena took another bite of her lunch before she burst into gleeful giggles and gave up the game before it had really even began.

No plans at all? Kahleena prodded at Okalinath, confused by R’nya’s unusually vague answer. She was quite sure R’nya always had a plan, for just about everything and anything and that was why he was never taken by surprise and always seemed to know everything. How could you know everything, if you didn’t know what you were even going to do during the day? The girl narrowed her eyes, studying the bronzerider seriously for a moment. Her look rapidly changed to one of bewilderment when he turned such a serious looking expression on her and Kahleena leaned backwards slightly, confused.

“What?” The girl exclaimed, eyes going huge. “Ohka- What? Okalinath!” how could her dragon be chewing on such a dignified beast as Xyreith?! How terribly embarrassing! What? Oh, relax Kally. The gold dragon snorted as she stalked Xyreith playfully, watching the grumpy bronze dragon with happily swirling eyes. If he wanted out, he’d be gone. Kahleena frowned iin concentration, using the very unpractised skill of sharing her dragon’s gaze just in time to see Okalinath leap on Xyreith with a mock roar.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kahleena said with great dignity, offering some of her sandwich to Muffin, hardly feeling hungry she was so terribly embarrassed. “I would never Impress a dragon that uses her betters as a chew toy!” Giving her chin a flick to get her hair out of her face, Kahleena bit down with airs of femininity into a redfruit, avoiding eye contact with serious determination. There was a slight smile curling up the corners of her lips, but that didn’t destroy her embarrassment!

Oh, you are ridiculous! The dragon’s voice was rich with love and affection and her eternal amusement.

Rhaedalyn let out another soft giggle as Rumour took advantage of R’nya’s Whisper-shaped distraction and stole a piece of food from the plate that had been moved away from the gold. He munched on it happily but it wasn’t enough to sate him and the blue flitter was back for another piece. This time, however, he took more than he bargained for and ended up having to drag the slice of meat from R’nya’s bread, slowly backing up until it was pulled free of the plate as well. With a chirp of triumph Rumour dug in.

Rhaedalyn probably would have fell into a giggle fit at the mischief if it wasn’t for the look R’nya was giving Kahleena and the statement made. Okalinath was chewing on Xyreith? How was that possible? Why would she do that? It rarely bothered the young woman that dragonriders had conversations around her all the time that she wasn’t a part of but there were still times tossed around here and there where she felt especially excluded. This was one of those times. It was abundantly clear there was something going on and there was a connection between her two friends that had dragons and Rhaedalyn wasn’t invited in with anything more than a vague statement by one and a denial by another. What was truly happening would forever be a mystery to her as her friends existed in two places at once thanks to the bond.

She would never know that bond and have that experience, of this Rhaedalyn was starting to believe. She kept failing at the Hatchings she had been brought South to Stand in and so far had only managed to Impress three firelizards. She loved her little group but was it really an accomplishment? She was going to end up being the crazy old firelizard lady living by herself in a secluded corner of the Weyr at this rate! Both hands delicately holding her cheese sandwich lifted for a small bite to be taken and sullenly chewed. It would be rude to interrupt all of the excitement happening with the dragons and whatever the riders were trying to do whether it be encouraging they play or stop messing around.

Questions had wanted to be asked since R’nya was practically begging to be pestered about his plans for the day but Rhaedalyn held off. Instead she scooped up Muffin to set him on her lap to stop him from play fighting with Rumour over the stolen food. She could tell in the way he started to creep in that direction that the picnic was going to get loud and entertaining soon and while that wouldn’t normally be a bad thing, Rhaedalyn was certain squabbling firelizards was never something anyone enjoyed.

“You’re ridiculous,” R’nya teased Kahleena, highly amused though he startled when the young woman burst into laughter at his words, unintentionally echoing her dragon. Shaking his own head, R’nya turned to pick up his plate only to find it had been pilfered by young Rumour. Eyeing the playful firelizard with amused resignation, R’nya made a show of giving his leftovers to little miss Whisper, who was so politely waiting for his attentions. It was only after she had taken the food that R’nya was allowed in on her concern, and the bronzerider frowned slightly for a moment before lifting his gaze to Rhaedalyn.

Oh, please! Xyreith sneered, apparently not quite quietly enough to be heard by R’nya alone, as Okalinath took it as an invitation to tackle the bronze. R’nya ignored his grumbling and bitching, pointedly staring at Rhaedalyn with dramatically widened eyes, face otherwise blank and bland as he waited for the girl to notice him, and waited for his bizarre expression to make her giggle. He was quite positive it would, and he only widened his eyes further when Kahleena began giggling quietly behind her hand.

Oh, she should have known, she should have remembered how easily upset Rhaedalyn was when she felt ignored by the dragons! It was such a tender topic, and one Kahleena felt she could understand with some ability; her poor friend had been bypassed by two beautiful golden dragonets, and how was one to feel about that, except as a failure? It didn’t help that Kahleena knew that was how Rhaedalyn viewed the ordeal, because Kahleena had feel that way, too, when Krypth had chosen Jada instead of her. In hindsight, she was relieved – Krypth flew so often! – and the dragon was not at all of a personality Kahleena could ever envision having to live with. Okalinath was so perfect for her – but that was something that took Impression to understand, and one day Rhaedalyn would, Kahleena just knew it!

But until that day, how could she be such a terribly careless friend as to forget how tender the lovely Rhaedalyn could be? Okalinath usually included the other girl in the things she said when they were sharing one another’s company, and Kahleena was slightly surprised the other girl had been excluded. Oh, she really did feel simply terrible! Unfortunately, she wasn’t acting like she felt terrible, because R’nya had echoed her dragon and that was so many levels of funny that Kahleena burst into a fit of giggles, raising a hand to cover her mouth lest she spit redfruit across their little picnic. Her face was a warped combination of entertained and guilty as she tried valiantly to stop giggling, especially when Okalinath started tackling Xyreith all over again, being very vocal about her amusement.

In the end, Kahleena had to resort to pursing her lips and closing her eyes as she breathed carefully and slowly, trying to reclaim the control she had had not so long ago. She opened her eyes to look over at her friends, and ended up bursting into another splutter of giggles as she took in the expression on R’nya’s face, and the way he was staring at Rhaedalyn, clearly baiting her without so much as a single word. It was so R’nya! Kahleena giggled more, nibbling on her redfruit between the soft sounds, watching her friends with expectant delight, waiting for Rhaedalyn’s response. She giggled again, breathy and completely immature.

Startled, Rhaedalyn glanced up at R’nya when he called someone ridiculous. She didn’t fully believe it was aimed at her since it was more likely for Xyreith or Kahleena but she wanted to make sure. Satisfied that it wasn’t her that was being ridiculous, Rhaedalyn grabbed a small chunk of meat and fed it to the slightly more behaved Muffin in her lap. Her fair usually ended up eating more than she did but he never minded. She had always been on the slender side and ate sparsely at times so it didn’t bother her to keep tossing food at the firelizards, especially when their combined hunger had been more uncomfortable than any she had felt on her own before.

All of the giggling continued to make Rhaedalyn feel left out but she also liked hearing it. It was a pleasant sound and a clear sign that her friend was enjoying herself. Sometimes, laughter was sparse amongst those Stolen from their lives. It had been such a rare sound in the Candidate Barracks a couple of turns ago that she almost felt guilty when she was the one that was enjoying herself. Again she wondered what it was like to more or less see in two places at once and always be entertained when she was physically trapped somewhere boring. It was obvious she was missing out on all the fun right then with dragons drooling on each other!

Finally, a pleased chirp from Whisper grabbed Rhaedalyn’s attention and she saw the little gold earning a treat from the bronzerider. R’nya was so good with her firelizards! He had so much patience and understanding for the little creatures and even the girls that often flocked around him and he always managed to maintain that regal air and dignity he had. It was somewhat alluring and likely why the shy girl had originally approached R’nya to take her virginity to help her continue Standing. His rejection had been soul-shattering and made for one very upset curly-haired girl but in the end, she supposed it worked out well. R’nd helped her on that front and she still had a wonderful friend in the bronzerider.

A bronzerider, her upward drifting gaze told her, that was making the strangest face. Rhaedalyn sat there in bewilderment, blinking three times at the sight before her before a small smile formed. “Your face will freeze like that if you’re not careful, Ren. I don’t think it’s used to holding such emotion.” A little giggle followed as she pointed out R’nya’s habit of keeping his expressions neutral and under control.

“Would that not be tragic?” R’nya asked, doing a particularly magnificent job (in his opinion!) at mimicking the way the girls often spoke such sentences, albeit with his own avoidance of contractions. In the back of his mind, he could hear Xyreith cursing as he struggled out from underneath the ‘fat gold lump’ that had pounced upon him, and attempted to shame R’nya for his game at the same time. The rider ignored the dragon, focusing on the previously unhappy young woman. The day was meant to be fun for the girls, not full of dour thoughts!

“You would need to learn to read me, all over again!” Unexpectedly, the bronzerider stuck his tongue out at Rhaedalyn, before sitting up swiftly and properly, eyes sparkling with amusement as he took a bite of meatroll, filling his mouth and hiding the attempt at a smile before it could fully form. An eyebrow arched up as he turned his gaze on Kahleena, a mock expression of disapproval on his features, and completely betrayed by the clear amusement in his eyes. “You really should not giggle at your betters, Lady Kahleena. It is rude!” A childish drawl was given to the last word, which caused the little blonde to burst into true laughter. R’nya gave Rhaedalyn an exasperated look.

“I think she needs to be taught a lesson, Rhaedalyn.” A smirk flickered, ghosting over his lips at the way he could see Kahleena’s attitude adjust, wary of what he might say next. R’nya’s forms of ‘punishment’ were often obscure and childish – such as the children’s games he had made his wingriders play to improve bonding – he invested in a similar technique to build trust between the girls. It was, of course, inevitable that they would eventually all leap and plunge into the political blood bath in an attempt to take the rank of Weyrwoman when old Tsuen was finally knocked off her throne. But R’nya liked to try and keep their minds as far from that day as possible – additionally, they were a generally sweet and playful group; games were positively made for them.

“What do you think, my lady?” A sideways glance was given to Kahleena, before the bronzerider focused on Rhaedalyn. “Death by tickles?”

“It would be,” Rhaedalyn replied in a completely serious tone, all traces of laughter gone; for the moment. She held it as long as she could which ended up being only a few seconds before the smile and giggle returned to show she knew the ever so serious bronzerider was actually being silly still. It was a bit mind-blowing to see R’nya acting as he currently was but it was fun and in a way, it felt like R’nya trusted them enough to show them a side Rhaedalyn knew no one else had ever seen given the talk she always heard from others. “I think I could man--” before Rhaedalyn could confirm she’d relearn to read R’nya’s expressions if it was stuck in an odd way, he was sticking his tongue out at her and the young woman forgot how to use words or do anything more than gawk and blink.

The ability to nod slowly returned as R’nya mentioned something about lessons. She briefly worried she was the one in trouble but as her mouth closed and eyes returned from saucer-size, Rhaedalyn realised Kahleena was now being picked on for all of her laughing. That was a bit of a relief! It was getting hard to think with all of the weirdness aimed directly at her! Now, at least, it was shared between them and that was a lot easier to handle. “I think that’s a brilliant idea, Ren!” Rhaedalyn grinned and nearly pounced Kahleena as she leaned over with great enthusiasm to land fingers on her friend’s sides to begin the suggested tickling.

Muffin took off with a startled screech and took to flying circles around all of their heads once he realised it was play time and for once he hadn’t started it. Rumour and Whisper both looked up from the morsels of meat at all of the noise but in the end decided food ranked higher than whatever it was the silly humans were up to; though R’nya earned a soft croon from Whisper in appreciation for making Rhaedalyn happy again.

Kahleena's delicate eyebrows twitched, drawing together as her laughter died off and a slightly quizzical and worried expression stole over her face instead. R'nya had, of course, been utterly hilarious only moments before, and the conversation he had had with Rhaedalyn had amused the girl immensely. His quiet, quirky question to Rhaedalyn about punishing her, however, was very serious!

Rhaedalyn's lack of paying attention was considered a very good sign by Kahleena, who was too suspicious about what type of 'lesson' she'd be saddled with to really pay much attention to the fact that he had been sticking his tongue out at the other girl. A gentle scold from Okalinath for missing out on 'prime opportunities' was ignored as suddenly Rhaedalyn was just about on top of her and there was red hair everywhere and Kahleena squealed.

"Oh! No! Please!" Wild laughter punctured the breathless words as Kahleena fought valiantly to capture her friend's hands, securing one for a moment, losing it, struggling more, and grabbing another (or was it the same?) in a wild flurry of limbs and material (praised be for pant-skirts!) and hair. With a breathless squeak that was meant to be represent of a chest, Kahleena finally secured both of Rhaedalyn's hands in her own and flopped back on the ground.

"N-no m-more!" Breathy giggles punctured the gasped words, and Kahleena smirked up at Rhaedalyn mischievously, and her eyebrows arched upwards in a naughty, implied manner as she shot a sideways glance at R'nya. Why were they tickling one another when there was a perfectly stoic man to attack? The idea of R'nya giggling and rolling around being tickled caused Kahleena to burst into a fresh wave of laughter.

How ridiculous! She would bet R'nya wasn't ticklish at all!

Rhaedalyn was a giggle-basket herself with the counter tickling, struggling, and playful begging for mercy. It didn’t matter to her that she was acting more fourteen than twenty-four and any sexual connotation behind two women tickling one another and rolling around together, especially as a man watched, was lost on the mostly naïve woman. This was pure and innocent fun and Rhaedalyn was glad she had friends she could indulge in such silliness with.

When Kahleena grabbed both of her hands, finally ending the attack on her, Muffin landed on Rhaedalyn’s shoulder and chirped his approval at all of the fun. Rhaedalyn laughed at her firelizard and shook her head when she realised he was congratulating Kahleena over her victory, though that win was debatable! It didn’t take long for Rhaedalyn to catch onto what Kahleena was thinking once the glance to R’nya was followed. That was a wonderful idea! After all, he was the one that instigated the tickle fight to begin with and he hadn’t even gotten a pinky finger dirty over it!

A nod was given to Kahleena though it could have easily been seen as a truce and agreement to not tickle her friend anymore and Rhaedalyn sat up straight once her hands were free. A berry was grabbed and munched on as usual to help give off the illusion all was well and a plot against the sneaky bronzerider wasn’t in play. Muffin was shooed off of her shoulder and he left with a squawk before sitting on the edge of the basket, dipping his head inside to see if there was anything else in there for him. The other two flitters were given a morsel of meat each but only if they finally left R’nya alone to enjoy his own food and they were situated between the two girls.

Once all the obstacles were cleared and R’nya wasn’t chewing or swallowing anything, Rhaedalyn finally spoke, a wicked grin appearing. “Ren, I was wondering something,” at that lead in, she pounced, more or less literally, at the bronzerider with fingers attacking R’nya’s sides in an all out tickle attack. “Are you ticklish?” She giggled as she kept wriggling her fingers against his sides, hoping upon hope that R’nya was indeed sensitive to such things and would not only crack a smile but give them a laugh.

A startled yelp tore itself from R’nya before the bronzerider could control himself, his pale eyes wide from both the sound, as well as the sudden form of Rhaedalyn perching upon him. His hands quickly grabbed at her waist as the man toppled backwards from his seated position, landing heavily on his back with an ‘oof’ of forced exhalation. His light grip kept Rhaedalyn from face planting into his face and there was no chance to regain any form of dignity as the young woman made it quite apparent what her intention was, fingers digging swiftly into his sides.

The bronzerider’s jaw clamped, his still wide eyes hazing over with tears as he struggled weakly in an attempt to get away, unwilling to throw Rhaedalyn across the clearing in order to escape; instead his hands scrabbled similarly to the way Kahleena’s had just minutes before in an attempt to catch the offending digits of the young woman. Puffy little breaths expelled through his nose were slowly exchanged for breathy little giggles; a sound that R’nya would not even dignify by denying, come a later date. Tears were streaming down his face as Kahleena perched herself on his thighs, back to back with Rhaedalyn, and tickled him behind the knees after a sly prompt from Okalinath, who hinted she may or may not have gained the tidbit from Xyreith.

The dual attack didn’t take long to get the better of R’nya, though he kept his laughter refrained to the breathy little giggles, puffed out from between tightly pursed lips lest what little control he was managing to keep break away completely. Tears continued to flow freely, and R’nya gave a whimpering whine when Rhaedalyn’s fingers found a particularly sensitive spot along his side. “E-nn-ough!” The word was born on a true laugh, the sound warm and deep, and R’nya squirmed again as he pursed his lips once more, not at all surprised by the way the girls ignored the request.

Another whimpering not-quite-laugh was tickled free, and R’nya decided that playing dirty was obviously the only way he was going to get out of the situation without falling to pieces and laughing like the girls when they were giddy on too much sugar. Grey-blue eyes, bright with both tears and amusement, caught Rhaedalyn’s gaze the same time he finally managed to grab her, one hand holding her own, the other wrapped lightly around her wrist. He paused for a second, before flashing a devious little smile, the expression racing across his face like lightning, and R’nya twisted, bucking his hips and sending both girls toppling to the side. Rhaedalyn’s hands were released so the girl could catch herself.

By the time the two girls had picked themselves up, R’nya was seated primly back at their little picnic rug, a glass of juice in hand and a devious expression hidden behind his eyes. “Whatever are you doing all the way over there?” Blue eyes widened dramatically, and R’nya looked from where the girls had been – originally, before all the tickling – to where they had ended up, and back again, quite as if he had no idea what had happened. Perhaps if he pretended as if it had never happened, the girls would be taken aback enough to wonder themselves if they had not simply fallen asleep and dreamt the entire event. The bronzerider’s flushed cheeks and delighted expression would likely belie any such attempts – but dignity demanded it!

You can reply with Rhae first if you want; Kally was power played enough to give some indication of what she was up to xD

R’nya could laugh! It was such a lovely sound as well! So warm and inviting that it made the young woman continue her attack despite his pleas. It was mean and rude to ignore such things but she couldn’t help it and when Kahleena joined in and didn’t seem ready to give in either, Rhaedalyn suspected it was okay to continue a little longer without trouble. She giggled and shook her head in the negative every time a plea was issued as fingers kept digging in, finding all the sensitive spots that seemed to bring out more squirming and attempts to keep from laughing. Why hadn’t they ever tried this before? It was likely due to R’nya being so stoic and the perfect gentleman that even in the giddiest of moments all of the girls knew better than to try such an undignified assault. The rules clearly changed at the mentioning of skipping and then issuing orders for tickle attacks!

Alone in the forest as they were, it was safe to act silly and pounce a bronzerider for such things. Rhaedalyn didn’t think she had been so bold before except with V’zire who was all sunshine and cuddles in the sweetest and most innocent of ways but something had spurred her on besides Kahleena’s suggestive glance. Perhaps it was a way to be properly included in all of the fun the two riders were having through their bonds or perhaps deep down there was an urge to simply throw herself at R’nya and straddle him and she took whatever chance she could get to fulfill it. Regardless, Rhaedalyn was having a wonderful time and only suspected trouble when R’nya finally stalled her attack by grabbing her hands and giving her a brief stare down.

Hazel eyes barely widened as she wondered what his counter attack would be before she was being bucked from R’nya’s body to sprawl on the ground a few feet away. Her freed hands did manage to save herself from eating dirt but Rhaedalyn knew she was still a sight to see. Her floppy hat had fallen off during the playing around with Kahleena and now strands of hair had slipped free of the binding, leaving them to dangle in her flushed face. Rhaedalyn sat up, straightening her clothes and brushing back her hair so she could look at R’nya and boggled at the man. He looked as composed as ever and was casually sipping at his juice. They had just witnessed him squirming on the ground and laughing, hadn’t they?

Rhaedalyn wrinkled her nose at R’nya as she examined him, making sure she wasn’t losing her mind, especially with the comment he made. It was possible she had received too much sun and fallen asleep and everything had been a wonderful dream. Quietly Rhaedalyn fixed her hair, resetting it in low on her neck again so her hat could be tossed back on once she reclaimed it. No, R’nya had definitely been their victim, she was sure of it!

Still without a word, Rhaedalyn crept a bit closer to R’nya once more, the deviousness completely gone with no sign of another attack in sight. Instead, she slowly reached up and plucked a small bit of foliage from the bronzerider’s hair and grinned as she brought it down for the man to see. “I’m not sure how we ended up over there but the same force also got leaves in your hair… and on your back.” She giggled and sent her hand down R’nya’s back to wipe away some of the dirt and debris while all three firelizards occupied Kahleena’s spot and watched them. Muffin especially seemed to have a wicked gleam in his eyes as if to say he would share everything he saw to the Weyr as freely as he shared the Weyr’s sexual exploits with R’nya.

Kahleena flashed a brief smirk as Rhaedalyn nodded her agreement, before managing to swallow the expression. She wriggled to get up, brushing her hair back casually with breathy little giggles between smiles and deep inhales. Her tummy hurt from laughing, and her mouth hurt from smiling so much! Kahleena wriggled happily, settling the material of her pants back down and brushing leaves from her hair.

It was all so inelegant and unladylike! She giggled again, rejoicing in the simple silliness that the day had become as she watched Rhaedalyn play up the airs of relaxing back into normalcy… Or maybe she had misunderstood Kahleena’s hint? The girl blinked, frowning slightly to herself as she nibbled on a piece of fruit, pouting slightly at the missed opportunity and unwilling to be the instigator herself. That would be terribly bold! Oh, you are ridiculous!

Fun was fun, because it was enjoyable! One didn’t need to be bold to have fun! One just needed to be willing to enjoy themselves! Okalinath shook her head to herself as she pounced on Xyreith once more, sprawling across the indignant bronze dragon, who ended up with one wing tucked in close and the other extended. Okalinath rested her paws over the top of his head, and her chin upon them, chittering cheerfully to herself. Rhaedalyn knows how to have fun! Okalinath put in, her voice convoying the smirk she couldn’t display, as the young woman flung herself onto R’nya.

A squeal of shocked delight tore free of Kahleena as she sat in shocked surprise, totally taken unawares by her friend’s actions – even though she had been the one to come up with the idea! – and it took her a few moments before Kahleena had gathered enough wits about her to copy her friend, crawling inelegantly over the mussed up picnic rug to scrabble over the wriggling legs of R’nya, sitting on them firmly and giggling evilly when she was prompted by Okalinath to tickle the man behind the knees. The reward of extra attempts to escape only spurred the girl on, thrilling in the silly game, and the way R’nya was trying so hard not to laugh outright.

Unable to see the bronzerider, and not warned by her dragon, Kahleena was taken quite by surprise when R’nya suddenly bucked them both off, the young goldrider shrieking with her shock, the sound riddled with laughter as she scrabbled to catch herself lest she eat the ground, spluttering in amusement. Righting herself, Kahleena perched delicately on her knees and blinked at R’nya. What? Okalinath giggled in the back of her mind as Kahleena crept closer, inching behind Rhaedalyn.

Still eyeing R’nya sceptically, Kahleena crept around to wriggle in amongst the firelizards, still frowning. A soft laugh came free at Rhaedalyn’s comment, and Kahleena picked up a leaf off her own clothing, twirling it by the stem between forefinger and thumb. Her expression was mirthful though she didn’t add any particular commentary as R’nya wriggled under Rhaedalyn’s sweeping gesture. Giggling, Kahleena picked up Muffin, cuddling him to her chest and tickling his nose with the leaf.

R’nya watched the two girls with utter delight, barely containing a smirk as they seemed to struggle for a moment to decide if he was playing with them, or if they had truly imagined the whole ordeal. The way they kept creeping up on him, however, had the bronzerider arching a sceptical eyebrow, only just managing not to look anxious that they would launch another attack on him. He could hear Xyreith in the back of his mind, grumbling about something, but he was too busy focusing on the two girls to worry too much about what his dragon was up to.

Despite all his wariness, however, R’nya still squeaked inelegantly when Rhaedalyn ran her hand down his back, flinching away from her unintentionally, still highly sensitive from the bought of tickling. A soft, breathy sound suspiciously like a laugh escaped, even as his face was coloured lightly with embarrassment (what an awful sound!) but the look he levelled on Rhaedalyn was perfectly composed. “How odd,” he murmured, as if he hadn’t squealed or twitched or laughed at all. One hand raised to brush through his hair, extracting a leaf and the bronzerider examined it thoughtfully for a moment before flicking it towards the firelizards playfully.

Pale eyes swept over Kahleena, before eyeing Rhaedalyn thoughtfully. “Your hair is also full of twiggies, my lady.” A pause and a subtle smirk of amusement. “And you have dirt, on your chin.” He tapped his own lightly, approximately where the smudge was on the young lady’s chin. A sideways glance was given to Kahleena. “You have a smudge, here,” and he brushed a finger across his left cheekbone. He sighed dramatically, clearly amused as he shook his head and scowled at them playfully. “Whatever would the Weyr think? My bringing home two mussed up ladies?”

That you had a better time than you really did, clearly. The dragon’s input was smug, shared only with R’nya who paused theatrically with widening eyes, which then rolled heavenward. “That was very badly phrased.” He murmured, pinching the bridge of his nose, frowning. “My apologies, ladies.” They might like to be mussed up, Sir. Xyreith added, rumbling with laughter where he was squished under Okalinath, when R’nya’s eyes widened further and then narrowed as he sent a firm reprimand to his dragon, hiding his face under one hand.

Rhaedalyn didn’t think R’nya’s flinching was insulting or had anything to do with her actually touching him given he had just been tickled near to death. She knew quite well that he was still sensitive from that attack and she would have behaved much the same way. In fact, while she giggled and playfully cleaned off his back, Rhaedalyn was still careful to ensure she wasn’t about to be pounced as revenge. That wouldn’t be very dignified and it would certainly be a shock to see R’nya do such a thing but given what they had already been through in the last several minutes, she had a feeling everything that they once knew as normal was a bit turned on its head for the time being.

Another giggle escaped when R’nya pointed out her hair had leaves in it as well and she quickly set to work brushing fingers through wild curls in an attempt to get them out. Rhaedalyn knew it was a futile effort given how crazy her hair could be but until she could get her hands on a brush and bath, she’d just have to make do. It was a good thing she also had her hat with her! First, she’d tend to the mark on her chin which was done with a few swipes of dry fingers. “Is that better?” She questioned R’nya, putting herself in line for the bronzerider’s direct gaze and scrutiny. Typically, Rhaedalyn didn’t like being the centre of attention but this was important! She couldn’t look a mess in the company of friends, especially when it was time to return to the Weyr.

Hazel eyes widened as R’nya said something and then corrected himself with an apology. Rhaedalyn hadn’t thought anything of it before R’nya did his own version of babbling. “It-it’s fine, Ren!” She tried to sound cheery and like he hadn’t just startled her with such a scandalous things! Then again, if anyone had stumbled upon them earlier, it wouldn’t have looked too innocent with two girls sitting atop R’nya either. Blushing furiously, Rhaedalyn fumbled for her hat and quickly pulled it down on her head until her face was mostly obscured with how she was gazing down at the forgotten food.

Kahleena flushed slightly, but giggled herself when R’nya pointed out that she had dirt on her face, the girl carefully lifting the hem of her shirt and brushing it over the side of her face, the entire length of her chin, and then paused. After a bare moments thought, she brushed it over the skin again, before brushing her shirt down flat. The material was filthy with dust and dirty, and she frowned when it occurred to her that she may well have made the smudge worse by adding to it, instead of removing it. Who cares? I do! Kahleena giggled, brushing at her face again as Rhaedalyn demanded to know if her own smudge was taken care of.

“You have a patch of leaves on your back, Rhae,” Kahleena giggled, crawling forward to brush hands over her friend’s back. She was still fussing with the other girl’s top when R’nya spoke, and Kahleena peered over Rhaedalyn’s shoulder with huge brown eyes to stare at the bronzerider in shock. “R’nya!” Kahleena breathed, mortified. Those were the types of statements R’nya usually went out of his way to protect them from, not utter himself! Kahleena, still staring at the bronzerider in horror, was taken by surprise when Rhaedalyn tugged her hat over her face, the back of the hem popping up to bop Kahleena on the bottom of the chin.

The younger girl shook her head slightly, and sat back, her bottom resting on the backs of her legs as she rested her hands on her knees, still frowning at R’nya. The bronzerider was all flushed! Xyreith is making it worse, Okalinath giggled cheerfully, sharing her thoughts with careful dedication to both women, but excluding the bronze and his rider. She wasn’t about to spoil all the fun! He keeps twisting his words, she added, giggling as she wriggled and slid over the side of Xyreith, clearly being included in half of whatever conversation the bronze was having with R’nya.

“Goodness me!” Kahleena exclaimed, her voice highly amused as she shifted to sit beside Rhaedalyn. “First he laughs, and now he’s redder than a virgin on her wedding night!”
