T’ryn didn’t mind the puns but when they came at him in almost every sentence, it was a bit much and he grimaced slightly once more. Although, he had to admit it was impressive that S’far could come up with so many in rapid succession like that. T’ryn was willing to bet that the Weyrleader had some puns worked out for years, specifically ones dealing with the Weyr and dragons. He wondered how many times some of them had been used and how many people had heard them but didn’t want to bring it up since the older generation didn’t always like discussing the pre-plague times.
He let S’far know when they assumed Cazan was due, basing it around Malvayth’s Flight since that was pretty much when they had started having sex—though he left that fact out. T’ryn didn’t want to know what puns or words of wisdom the Weyrleader could get out of that. He was thankful he didn’t say anything as S’far went back into serious mode and even seemed interested in his formations. M’ris had used his wings ideas back when Ista had its fires as it seemed to be the only breakdown anyone had done and it seemed to have worked out well and now another Weyrleader wanted to see what he could come up with. T’ryn was cautiously excited and motivated now to clean up his ideas.
“I will definitely do that! Thank you, sir.” So much for trying to stay cautious as he smiled brightly, his hope and excitement shining. Suddenly embarrassed by his reaction, T’ryn decided that was a good point to excuse himself. He’d gotten some answers and guidance and even a jump on his career goal. Best to leave now before anything was changed.
“Thank you for everything, sir. I’ll get started with the map and planning that out so I can return your copy as soon as possible before starting on the entranceway.” He’d have to get his wings sorted out as well and drop those off with the map. He didn’t need much sleep while he was here—he got a better rest next to Cazan anyway—so he would have plenty of time to work through his list in the two days he was at this Weyr.
Once he was given permission to leave, T’ryn headed back outside and did his best not to run all the way back to his weyr to begin working on everything.
