T'ryn groaned and his shoulders sagged as the usual teasing started up. He knew his reactions were what made people continue to pick on him but he couldn't help it as he had no desire to lead in that capacity and the idea horrified him. Casa had brought it up as a joke when she got her own promotion and several others had since teased him once he announced Syrendryth and Bedith were mates. He knew it was all in good fun and it didn't anger him but he really wanted to stop thinking about how close that possibility came to being a reality. "Thank goodness Flights don't dictate leadership anymore," he grumbled before sipping at his own juice. He was doubly thankful for that fact knowing N'mor's dream was to be a Weyrleader and T'ryn was certain his friend was a bit miffed and maybe even jealous so lingering on anything to do with that added to his own discomfort.
Thinking on Flights and leadership led him to the goldrider in his living room. When had Thallyath last Flown? Must have been about eighteen months ago and T'ryn wondered if she would Fly any day now or still be a while yet. It wasn't unheard of for golds to have longer cycles from what he knew about history and heard from older bronzeriders but the golds born since the plague seemed to stick with a year or less for their cycles. Given Thallyath's first clutch, maybe the gold would never Rise again. That was a depressing thought and stayed T'ryn's tongue from asking Casa anything about it. No need to worry her or add to it if she had already had similar thoughts.
"Are you staying in Telgar for long? We could head down for some lunch in a bit or I could ask for something to be brought up if you want to hide out a while longer and catch up." As soon as he said it, T'ryn realised that offer could come off as an invitation to find their way to his bed. While he wasn't opposed to the idea, it wasn't what he had in mind. He had always enjoyed talking with Casa and wanted to be selfish for a moment and steal as much time as he could for that.
