D’hys smiled at the girl’s delight at getting a chance to stay in his presence a while longer. Some people were far too easy to manipulate. Madiquel was a fairly open book and it didn’t take much to find out what would make her happy, something he was grateful for since keeping her happy kept the leadership happy. “I’m not too familiar with this song so I hope you forgive me for any stumbles during it,” he confessed as they fell back into a dance. It was a simple enough song with a steady beat so D’hys didn’t think they’d be thrown for any loops and step on toes.
They did make it through that song and as the Harpers went right into another song with barely a pause, D’hys kept Madiquel on the floor. It was a song he knew well and was able to add flourishing moves and spins to ensure the girl’s night ended on a high note. No doubt she would think back on it with fondness and perhaps lust but that wasn’t his problem. He was being an absolute gentleman with the way he spoke and held her so it wasn’t his fault if her thoughts delved into less than pure places.
As the song concluded and the singer paused for a quick drink, D’hys applauded and decided an encore to the show was in order. “May I buy you a drink and escort you back to Zezeth? The weyrling curfew must be approaching and I wouldn’t mind seeing her. Perhaps you can fill me in on how you’re both doing with your lessons as we walk?”
You really can’t help yourself, can you?
What can I say? I adore being adored. He also was curious about the frail green dragon and there had been genuine interest in his words to Madiquel.
