Oh Madiquel had it bad for D’hys. Rhaedalyn almost felt guilty for encouraging the crush after all, knowing the bluerider was older than even her and likely wouldn’t ever return the girl’s affections. But as a dreamer herself, she couldn’t shatter Madiquel’s hopes, especially when she had come to learn how wonderful D’hys was over the years since moving North. She once was cautious around him since he was friends with that horrible creature Z’ia but D’hys had proven his worth and earned her trust and friendship. Though, perhaps she should start talking up boys closer to Madiquel’s age—after the girl got her dance. A dance that perhaps she should ask R’nya to talk to D’hys about accepting.
“I know so. I also think you could get any dance partner you want. How could anyone turn down such a beautiful and charming young lady?” She knew A’tay and Quinvalis would both clamour to get a dance in and some of Madiquel’s other friends would be fools not to dance with her as well. She smiled fondly at Madiquel, realising in roughly ten years, she could be having the same conversation with one of her daughters, encouraging them to go after the sweet boy they liked—but not to tell their father until they were sure he couldn’t scare the love interest away.
“I should stop hogging all of your free time. You go and enjoy yourself and I can’t wait to hear all about your day when we get together again soon.” Rhaedalyn had already decided she would visit Ista in the next week or two to check in with Madiquel and Casa. She was certain her young friend was holding her own as Weyrwoman but it never hurt to talk openly with a friend and someone who understood what she was going through.
