Appearance
Eyes: L’gan’s eyes are a stormy grey, ringed with a border that is almost black. His brows are dark and thin, framing his features and giving life to his emotions. His eyes are guarded around strangers, but open and sparkle with mischief around his loved ones and friends.
Hair: His hair is dark brown, almost black, and curls with a mind of its own. He tries to keep it cropped short for flying, but frequently forgets, so it varies between a couple inches and almost to his shoulders-and the latter is more frequent. When it is longer, he ties it back to keep it out of his face during flight.
Height: 5’9”
General Appearance: L’gan filled out from his very gangly teenage appearance into a slender body with lithe limbs. He is still slight of frame, making for an ideal greenrider; quick and light. He keeps fit and can often be found running or doing other exercises when not busy with Weyr or healing lessons, finding that the activity helps quiet his mind.
He has a jagged scar near his elbow and several small bite scars from falling into a tunnel snake nest as a weyrbrat. The arm was broken and he suffered several bites before he was found, but both healed well. The arm bothers him sometimes before rain or snow are due but otherwise he barely gives it any thought. He also has a burn scar on his hip from a training accident where Semath didn’t evade quite quick enough; they were both burned lightly, but enough for them to always be extra cautious in the future.
L’gan has a long, angular face and aquiline nose. He is capable of keeping his features quite passive when needed, but a small smirking smile is never far away among friends.
Dressing Style:
He tends to wear soft, older clothes, emphasizing comfort over style for everyday. It is rare that he allows himself to be talked into wearing fancy clothes; usually only Gathers garner enough interest in “parading around like a peacock in something itchy that will just end up soiled or stained.”
He is fastidiously clean if it can be helped, having a hatred of dirt and mess ingrained from a young age when helping fetch bandages and medicines for weyrfolk and later working in the Healer hall. Semath isn’t nearly as particular, but always indulges her rider when he wants to give her a bath and oiling, loving the attention.
When not flying he lets his hair loose around his face; it’s just easier than trying to tame it back constantly. Even when cut short it finds a way to get in his eyes, so he usually just lets it grow.
Personality
General Character Traits: L’gan is typically very reserved in most of his interactions. He can get very riled up by friends, but he is slow to anger unless he encounters riders who neglect themselves or their dragons’ care. He is very protective of his family and friends, including his daughters.
That said, he’s as prone to gossip as the next greenrider, and much of his stocism around others is a way to hide his anxieties. Growing up in a Weyr, rambunctious and willful as any weyrbrat, then being suddenly abandoned during the plague years has left its mark. He is slower to trust than he would have been, especially after seeing the journeymen stolen. But he was determined to be a dragonhealer come Thread or flood (hell or high water), and he works tirelessly when a sick dragon is involved.
Habits/Mannerisms: L’gan has a bad habit of biting his lip when it is rough or chapped, which between flying and his chewing on it is almost all the time. His fingers also fidget when he is nervous or anxious, thumb and nails scratching against his palm or other fingers.
Opinions: These can be kept short and sweet; a sentence will suffice.
Threadfall Theory: There wouldn’t have been a reason for the records to talk of Threadfall and Fall patterns or wing fight positions if Thread wasn’t going to remain a threat. Yes, it hasn’t fallen in many turns, but sure as there were patterns to its fall before, there are patterns to the intervals between. Why else would the dragons be fighting so hard to come back to full strength after the plague if there wasn’t a threat on the horizon?
Stealing/Kidnapping: L’gan felt angry and betrayed by the kidnapping of the journeymen. Not only for the dragonriders to reveal their survival after the devastation of the plague in such a manner, but that they didn’t even attempt to ask for help. He was still an apprentice, only a few months away from walking the tables when it happened. The anger is somewhat blunted now, but he still resents that he was left behind and overlooked twice in his lifetime.
Weryrleader S'kef: N/A for non Katilan
Firelizards: He isn’t sure he believes the story that firelizards started the plague, but he was too young when they all vanished to have more than a fleeting impression of them at all. He enjoys watching their antics though now some have returned from the South.
Women's loss of honourifics: 04.06.733 - at the World Above graduation, N/A for non Katilans.
Return North: He had been praying for it for most of his life, wanting the dragons and their riders to survive, wanting his weyr family to return.

Night shifts: L’gan loves the quieter hours of a night shift at the Healer hall or watch duty. There are fewer people around and the sounds are so different it is always a pleasant treat to him.

Tunnel snakes - L’gan fell into a tunnel snake nest when he was 11, breaking his arm. He was bitten several times before he could get out, and he can’t stand the sound of them in the walls.

Strengths: Please include at least one sentence each explaining how they are a strength for your character.

History
Father: L’ced (formerly Laniced), b.YYY, d.YYY
Rank: Wingrider at Fort Weyr of Blue Gemith
Mother: Galia, b.YYY, d.YYY
Rank: Laundress at Fort Weyr. Particularly skilled with a needle, she helped with some delicate repairs to Gemith’s wing, which is how they met. She shared his weyr until L’ced’s death.
Siblings:
L’gan has several older half siblings: 3 brothers and 2 sisters. His mother had just become pregnant again when the first of the dragons began to fall ill. Gemith was among the first to die, vanishing between abruptly with L’ced still astride. The stress and grief caused her to miscarry.
Past Lovers/Partners: Only important ones are required.
Current Lovers/Partners: If Applicable.
Children:
Though L’gan’s preferences run towards men, he has slept with women occasionally. He has two daughters, Larissa and Elaya. He isn’t as involved with them as he wants to be, but his studies and dragon have kept him busy. Semath is particularly fond of the children and guilts him into seeing them any chance she gets.
Background Story:
715 & 3 turns:
His father, L’ced, and L'ced's Geminth go between and never return in the 11th month
716 & 4 turns:
Left behind during the Weyr evacuation, Galia and Logan seek refuge at the Healer Hall.
725 & 13 turns:
Logan is formally apprenticed to the Healers. He proves to be endlessly curious, hard working, and to have a strong stomach.
732 & 20 turns:
Attaining Jr. Journeyman status, Logan walks the tables with pride. He specializes in trauma but he has also worked hard to develop his illustration skills, focusing on anatomical and botanical illustration. Whenever he gets time, he pours over old records on dragonhealing, convinced the entire population can’t have truly vanished.
735 & 23 turns:
With the return of riders and dragons to Telgar, his faith that some survived is borne out. He begs Masterhealer Quennell for leave to spend some of his time as a journeyman at the Weyr, researching the plague and the survivors and sending his findings back. The idea is met with resistance and anger by several full Healers when it becomes clear that stolen journeymen are among the ranks of the riders, but he is persistent that knowledge must be shared and preserved in order to avoid future recurrences. Eventually he succeeds and is assigned to Telgar with strict instructions to keep meticulous records and sent regular reports.
Late that Turn, after befriending a Searchrider and his dragon, he is startled but pleased by the suggestion that he could be a suitable Candidate. After more arguments with master Healers, an ultimatum is proposed: if Logan does not Impress in two years he will return full time to the Hall or risk the Master stripping his rank. Desperate to Impress and for a chance to become a proper dragonhealer, Logan stands for any Hatching he can at multiple Weyrs, becoming more and more dispirited as each passes.
737 & 25 turns:
When a gangly green gets tangled in her wings and hurt during hatching, Logan fought his way to her side to keep her from being injured further or hurting anyone else in the chaos. By this point, even as he helped her unsnarl her wings from her claws and murmured soothing nonsense, he was convinced he would be returning to the Hall and a lecture from Masterhealer Verec. Semath’s distressed squawk at the thought of her chosen going anywhere without her brought him out of his thoughts and back to reality. She was his; he had Impressed!
739 & 28 turns:
L’gan and Semath graduate with the others of their class. He hears about Weyrleader R’nya’s negotiations with the Healer Hall, and begs to be included on the list. He and Semath transfer to Fort Weyr while arrangements are made.
Education
Craft: Healer craft and general education.
Specialty: Trauma
Craft Rank: Jr. Journeyman
Date Apprenticed: dd.mm.725 AL (13 years old)
Date Tapped: dd.mm.732 AL (20 years old)
Mastership Obtained: N/A
Education Details:
He’s always had a strong stomach, so gore and smells never bother him much. He acts well under pressure, keeping his cool in the heat of the moment, intently focused on his patient. He also is an excellent illustrator, taking time to practice sketching anatomical structures or medicinal plants.
L’gan always had trouble with medicine compounding. He is good at identifying herbs and other ingredients, but never had the knack for mixing them all together properly. Which is a problem when he’s one of the few who doesn’t particularly mind the smell of numbweed preparation, but at least there he can just be assigned to chop.
He has a good bedside manner in general, but when he sees evidence of neglect, particularly in the care of dragon, he quickly becomes belligerent and scolds anyone even peripherally involved. This is usually tempered by Semath’s calming influence, but even she becomes agitated and protective when weyrlings are involved.

Scars & Markings: Semath has some brighter green scales across her muzzle which L’gan teases are like freckles. She also has a burn on her shoulder where she didn’t dodge quite fast enough during a training session, but the scar is barely visible; L’gan fussed over her day and night while they both healed. A few small scars are scattered over her wingtips where they dragged and tangled during her hatching and weyrlinghood.
Weyrlinghood: Her wings were always just slightly too big for the weyrling and she had to be careful not to let them drag or snag on things. She wasn’t always successful.
Adulthood: She has grown into a graceful green dragon, small enough for speed but with her larger wings lending additional stamina during flight.
Mindvoice: Semath is a bubbly, friendly dragon, always excited to meet new folks, and her voice reflects this. Her chipper voice is enough to make L'gan crack a smile on the worst of days when he needs it most.
General Character Traits: Calm and steady, she helps act as a foil to her rider’s anxieties. She is outgoing and friendly where he is reserved, gently forcing him to come out of his shell. Semath’s calming presence is also helpful when he is dealing with a particularly bad injury to a dragon. She will nuzzle or lay with another dragon to soothe them, or just visit with him to keep their spirits up during recovery.
This should be at least two paragraphs, generally encompassing the things included in the above sections, as well as introducing any other aspects that didn't fit into those, but still applies to the character.
Habits/Mannerisms: Semath’s tail swishes and gives away her mood, similar to a feline. Angry lashing back and forth when L’gan is upset or she is mad, gentle swishing of the tip when she is relaxed, et cetera.

Pushy riders or dragons - just because you’re a dragon or rider is no excuse to be rude

Stamina - because of her wingspan she can stay aloft longer than other greens her size but she hasn’t sacrificed agility
Flaws: Please include at least one sentence each explaining how they are a flaw for your character. We encourage a character to posses more flaws than strengths and the two should not mirror each other.
Curiousity- she got herself and L’gan in lots of trouble as a weyrling wandering into weyrs that weren’t hers or going exploring

L’gan paced nervously in the hall outside Verec’s office. Aside from a few brief trips back during his Candidacy, he hadn’t visited the Healer’s Hall since leaving. It had been the hardest decision of his life to pack a bag and knock on Masterhealer Quennell’s door all those turns ago when dragons returned to the Weyrs, asking to be stationed at Telgar to learn how the dragons had survived the plague.
Like many of the others he had been angry and upset when he discovered the truth that surviving dragonriders had kidnapped the journeymen and took them south. He was furious about the duplicity of the action and the disregard for the families and peers of the men stolen. However, a small part of him was also angry about being left behind again. For turns he had studied the old records, convinced against all logic that some dragons would survive the terrible plague and return. For turns he had dreamed of helping them and becoming a proper dragonhealer.
He cut off the train of thought with irritation. All of that woolgathering wouldn’t help anything if he couldn’t convince Verec to let him back in, to allow the greenrider to finish his training. Weyrleader R’nya had made an arrangement with the Healer Hall to train some of the Weyr’s women, and it was a chance he would never get again. L’gan had begged to be included on the roster of names the moment he heard the gossip in the lower caverns about it, and found himself with the awkward task of bearing that roster to the Masterhealer for review. Someone had a sick sense of humor, he thought.
