Halomirth was terrifically lucky they lived in Ista where it stayed warmer. True, F’drel had heard that the other Weyrs were warmer than the surrounding areas and even when Telgar and Fort Holds had snow the Weyrs didn’t, they were still colder than Ista in the later months of the turn. So while it may not be snowing all the time, it was still less than pleasant to spend long periods of time outside. Nabol was at the foot of a mountain, F’drel remembered awful snowy winters and Ista’s were nothing like that. Which worked in Miri’s favor because it wasn’t so cold F’drel refused to go out to the lake with her so she could swim. F’drel was starting to think that just maybe he should actually learn to swim, considering Miri enjoyed the activity so much. He didn’t go in the water much himself, but he was sure it was inevitable. Maybe he could ask R’dal to teach him? Or would that be too awkward considering their past experiences with swimming.
In any case, Miri had decided it was a morning for swimming, and the two of them had glided down to the lake, where F’drel planned to find a nice rock to sit on while Halomirth splashed her way into the water to play around for a while. Of course, that didn’t work out because there was already a dragon nearby Miri’s favorite area, and Miri being Miri she had to go over and say hello. To a very large bronze dragon, and F’drel couldn’t help the soft dread at almost certainly having to interact with a bronzerider. At least it wasn’t M’ris, F’drel had definitely spent enough time with the Weyrleader recently to last a good long while. Sure, it was maybe half an hour, but that was plenty for at least half a turn. Still, he wasn’t eager to make the acquaintance of another bronzerider. Miri, on the other hand, was.
Hello! Halomirth greeted cheerfully, walking up to the immense bronze in the water while F’drel lagged along on the shore, really not wanting to get closer but feeling a need to mitigate any damage Miri might do if she accidentally offended a bronze, how are you today, Syrendryth? The green wasn’t well acquainted with Syrendryth, but she knew of him. Mylorah had mentioned him before, and R’dal had too, since they were both friends with his rider. He sounded nice, and she wanted to get to know him better! F’drel, feeling his dragon’s intentions, was dreading whatever would happen next.
