The seconds before T’bia responded felt like eternities to M’dox. From where his head was pressed to T’bia’s chest he could hear that his heart rate was faster than normal, but he wasn’t sure what that meant, it could be good or bad. What if it was bad? It was probably bad. M’dox was almost ready to cry again, eyes tearing up yet again, when T’bia laughed and hugged him tightly. Oh. Laughing was good, right? Laughing had to be good.
There was a moment of panic when T’bia pushed him away that he’d been wrong, and it was actually bad and he’d messed everything up again, before T’bia was lying on top of M’dox and kissing him and M’dox was pretty sure that meant it had to be good. He kissed back, slowly relaxing into the bed as he wrapped his arms around T’bia and let him lead the kiss where he wanted. M’dox was just so relieved his unplanned admission made T’bia happy, it almost felt like he was floating even though T’bia was on top of him and pressing him into the bed.
M’dox gasped when T’bia broke the kiss; he’d been so absorbed in the kiss and what it meant he hadn’t realized how much he needed to breathe. He smiled dazedly up at T’bia as he tried to catch his breath, still panting heavily from the kiss. But…T’bia suddenly looked upset. M’dox’s brows furrowed; he thought everything was okay. Was it not okay again? He made a distressed noise when T’bia sat up, worried he’d done something wrong again. After a few seconds of concern, M’dox sat up a little and was about to ask T’bia what was wrong when the bluerider made a noise and suddenly M’dox was getting kissed again. He found himself pushed back into the bed with the force of the kiss and the weight of T’bia on top of him.
And then T’bia was speaking, and he was close enough M’dox could feel his lips move around the words, and he was practically inhaling the words as they were spoken. M’dox could swear his heart almost stopped when T’bia said he loved him. The relief at the words, that his own hadn’t been unwanted, or silly, or overemotional, was unlike anything else. He could almost cry again, but this time in elation, sheer joy that T’bia loved him, and when T’bia kissed him M’dox kissed back with more enthusiasm then he would have thought possible.
They stayed like that for a while, just lying on M’dox’s bed and kissing, completely wrapped up in each other. For a moment they paused to just look at each other. M’dox was grinning so much his face hurt, but he didn’t care. He loved this. He couldn’t believe he’d been so stupid as to not spend every minute he could like this, instead of hiding away for half the summer. It was perfect. The kissing was wonderful of course, and M’dox decided he really liked the weight of T’bia’s body above him — it felt safe — but really, it was just being with T’bia that made it nothing less than ideal.
With a sly grin M’dox pressed a quick kiss to T’bia’s nose, before he started kissing every part of the bluerider’s face he could reach. Laughing, M’dox nuzzled into T’bia’s face. “I love you,” he said again, moving a hand up to cradle agains T’bia’s face, “and if I steal your voice, you give me mine.” As soon as he finished speaking he leaned up and kissed him again, slowly, prolonging the kiss as long as possible. He meant it. His whole life, M’dox had been quiet, never speaking up, rarely saying anything if someone didn’t address him in the first place, but T’bia made him want to talk, to tell him how he felt, about how amazing he knew T’bia was, to respond to everything T’bia said because he truly did like listening to him talk. It was a bit silly, and certainly rather cliched but M’dox meant it, and he tried to make sure to express how sincere he was, how much he felt, through the kiss, letting it back up his words.
