Casa’s face lost a lot of its colour; an hour? They wanted her to look after the baby in an hour? Casa didn’t know the first thing about babies! She’d been hoping for a day or two. At least then she could scope out the crèche and make sure she wouldn’t fuck up while she was looking after the child. Faranth, what had she gotten herself into now? An hour?
Oh, quit being so dramatic. You said you’d watch the child, and you will not go back on what you said. So sit up straight and tell the woman that you’d be delighted. Casa would have cringed at the acidic tone of her dragon’s voice, but she was putting too much thought into sitting up straight, with her shoulders back, and flashing a bright grin that didn’t quite reach her eyes. She could do this! Thallyath said she could, and well, she’d manage somehow, surely! It wasn’t likely they’d leave her completely alone with the infant, was it? I doubt it. You’re little more than a child yourself. Thanks, Casa retorted dryly, though her dragon was right.
“Yes sir!,” Casa responded brightly to M’ris, though inside she felt slightly ill. A whole evening? How late was late? How long could the infant go without her mother for? When would they be back. Oh Faranth she was already wanting them to come back and they hadn’t even left yet! Casa’s left foot jiggled anxiously under the table, the only expression of her distress. Thallyath sighedYou will be fine. How hard can it possibly be to look after a creature that can’t even move on it’s own? Really Casa, you are being so dramatic.
