Contrary to popular belief, C'dhin did not spend all day every day baking. He did bake a lot but he did take some days off to do other things like hang out with his daughter, visit friends, or just get away from it all with Coroth, finding a quiet spot with a good view and breeze. However, since the Hatching at Ista three days earlier, all C'dhin had done was bake. ...and sample a lot of his baking.

He was stressed and baking was comforting to him so he kept doing it in order to get rid of the stress but it wasn't working because he'd start thinking about those poor little dragonets and the poor young people bonded to them and he then baked more and ate more, which led to more baking so he could share with more people... it was a nasty never-ending circle.

It really didn't help that he wasn't allowed to visit Misharan. He had tried soon after the Hatching ended but had been told that they couldn't have visitors for a few days while they worked to keep the dragonets alive. What the actual fuck? Don't tell people that! Someone had to work on their bedside manners! What if he had been a relative or mate of one of those newly Impressed weyrlings and already had such fears and then a Healer or dragonrider confirmed he had reason to fear for their life or sanity? People sometimes sucked.

He was taking them at their word, however, that they would both keep the dragonets alive and he could visit in a few days. Three was a few, and so C'dhin had packed up case after case of cookies and a special case of cupcakes he made in Misharan's favourite flavour--well, one of them. That man was both wonderful for the baker's ego but horrible for pinpointing what was the top of the list. C'dhin felt he managed in getting the flavour right within the top three, if nothing else.

Do you think I will get to see the little ones? Coroth had been in an odd state since the Hatching as well. She didn't like the death or how the survivors looked and she liked Misharan as much as C'dhin did and worried. She was a bit more subdued than usual and C'dhin missed the constant teasing and found that had added to his stress.

"I hope so, my love. It'll do you good to see them and I bet they'd like to see more people and dragons as well," C'dhin patted her side affectionately as he finished tying up the saddle bags full of his goodies. "What do you think Misha's honorific is?" He asked while climbing up to the seat and strapping in.

I hope it's M'ra. It sounds like a roar to scare someone with and I bet it would start to annoy him when people did start saying it that way, Coroth chuckled a little and C'dhin smiled, glad some of her sass was coming back. They both really did need this visit.

"Let's go find out."

When they arrived, they were given directions to where they could find the weyrlings. Apparently they had been given an old large weyr no one had moved into so they had enough space for everyone coming and going but still have some privacy. Coroth landed on the ledge and became a bit antsy as C'dhin freed himself and sacks of goods. She sensed the depression that still hung around the small group and C'dhin did his best to reassure her it was fine. Surely they would have heard otherwise if something had happened. "Be good and I'll see if Misharan and the little guy can come out to visit you."

C'dhin greeted the Assistant that was milling about and offered the man one of the cases of cookies to keep for himself and then produced four more for the Healers and other assistants to have, and one each for Madiquel and Beckitt. He wasn't sure if they'd all be up for a visit--and apparently weren't even awake at the moment--so he left the treats for them to receive later.

He was shown to Misharan's room and C'dhin took a deep breath and peeked in. He smiled when he saw his friend wasn't asleep but it looked like he wished he was. Setting down the bag of the remaining treats, C'dhin stepped inside and shut the door behind him. It wasn't really done to give them privacy since intimacy was off the table for a while but it made C'dhin relax a bit by not having so many official people right outside.

"I heard a sexy bluerider was staying here. Did I find the right room?"

Misharan - Sh’ran now, he kept forgetting - had not anticipated Weyrlinghood to be so deeply exhausting. Not that he was having a typical Weyrlinghood, so Sh’ran supposed he could be forgiven for not expecting it. It didn’t matter in any case, he wouldn’t want any dragon other than Dyoricath, so the reduced sleep and constant worry were absolutely worth it.

So far Dyoricath had spent most of his time sleeping, and if he wasn’t sleeping he was eating or getting his hide oiled (though sometimes he fell asleep while Misha was oiling him, so those two overlapped sometimes). His hide was already looking better, the color a bit healthier, though the Weyrlingmaster said it was still a good deal rougher than it should be. All three dragonets were still to skinny, though Kitt’s seemed to be filling out the fastest. After a meal their bellies were a stark contrast to the rest of their malnourished frames; it was a little grotesque looking, quite honestly, though Sh’ran didn’t mind because it meant Dyoricath had eaten well and was on his way to becoming a healthy little dragonet.

Which Dyoricath was going to be, obviously. He had so much personality and determination, and Misha knew he was going to fucking thrice. They just needed to get through a few setbacks in order to get there. Everyone else was so worried - he was too - but everytime Sh’ran made eye contact with Dyoricath he was reassured that his blue would get through it. Even if all the fear coming from everyone else was making him a little doubtful and paranoid too, though he did his best to shove it aside and not let it get in their way. Sh’ran had accidentally woken Dyo up a few times trying to make sure he was still breathing despite knowing perfectly well he was, surely he would have felt it if he wasn’t. Still, maintaining as much contact as possible with Dyoricath while the little guy slept provided some extra reassurance that never hurt.

All the dragonets tended to go from eating right to sleeping, as if being awake and digesting a meal took too much energy to do both at once. The early afternoon meal had ended and all the Weyrlings had retreated to their respective rooms for naptime. Or at least, the dragons did, and Misha hoped that Kitten and Madiquel were able to catch some sleep as well. He couldn’t, stuck in a weird impasse where he was both too tired to function and unable to wind down enough to actually fall asleep. They’d ended up with Sh’ran’s back against the wall with Dyoricath draped over his legs, tail wound proprietarily around one of his ankles, though it has loosened as he shifted in his sleep. With gentle hands Sh’ran stroked Dyoricath’s side, reassuring the sleeping blue that he was still there and simultaneously reassuring himself Dyoricath was still breathing.

Misha looked up from watching Dyo rest when he heard the door shut, blinking tiredly at the person who had entered the room. He was surprised to see it wasn’t a Healer. In fact, it was someone a lot better.

“Not sure. There’s a sleepy bluerider in here though. Close enough?” he teased. It was easy to tell he was tired from his voice, but his wide smile at seeing C’dhin was genuine. He hadn’t had any good chances to see his friends since Dyoricath hatched, and he missed them, even after only a few days. It didn’t register to him until that moment but Sh’ran was aching for a hug, or even just someone putting their hand on his shoulder or leaning against him. Just casual, physical contact. He got plenty of contact from Dyo, sure - the blue was in fact sprawled over him at least a quarter of the time - and while Sh’ran already loved Dyoricath with everything he had, his bonded was a dragon, not human, and there was something about human touch Misha craved, needed.

“C’mere?” he asked softly, reaching out for C’dhin with the hand that wasn’t currently petting a dragon. Just then, other than Dyo continuing to get stronger, a hug sounded like the best thing in the world. Even better than a full night’s sleep.

C'dhin was instantly relieved upon hearing Misharan's voice. Sure, it was as tired as his appearance but his friend seemed to be doing well and possibly even in good spirits if he was able to joke a bit. That hand extended to him was all the invitation C'dhin needed to cross the room, setting his bag of remaining goodies on the floor in the process. Time enough to give them out after they got in a hug and chat. He had a feeling it wouldn't be a long one thanks to that sleepy expression so C'dhin wanted to make the most of it.

"If I can't find a sexy one, I guess a sleepy one will have to do," his voice was still quiet, not wanting to wake the dragonet that he assumed was only sleeping. It really didn't help his anxiety to think it was anything more and Misharan was already delusional and cuddling his... right, not thinking about that!

He went to take the hand and then thought better of it, waving it away so he could settle in beside his friend. Once there, he shifted just enough so he could slip both arms around Misharan and give him a hug. It wasn't anything sexual, just a hug between friends that missed each other so C'dhin figured it wouldn't upset the little blue even if he were awake. "I'm so happy for you," he whispered but was unable to explain why. He was happy in general, Misharan deserved to be a dragonrider and it had finally happened! But he was also happy it wasn't a green since that wasn't the lifestyle he wished upon his friend. He was even happy that it wasn't a brown in Misharan's lap. Sure, not all blueriders were saints but compared to the browns he had tangled with, they sure appeared to be the best!

"What are your names?" He asked, a bit muffled from the way he shifted to enjoy the hug a bit more while trying to ask the important things. "Coroth knows what she hopes your name is. And she wants to meet your little guy if possible."

Misha leaned into the hug with a soft sigh, suddenly feeling as if he could fall asleep then and there. The wonders of hugs, he thought, though really he shouldn’t fall asleep right when C’dhin showed up. That would be rude, and as tired as he was Sh’ran wanted to reassure his friend he was okay. “I’m happy too,” he said, smiling even though C’dhin probably couldn’t see it from how they were sitting. He really was happy, and he refused to let worry about Dyoricath and his clutchmates’ health keep that from him.

“This is Dyoricath,” he said, running his hand along the back of the dragonet’s neck, fingers bumping over the ridges as well as the parts where Dyoricath’s spine stood out against his skin far too much. “He named me Sh’ran.” Which was definitely going to take some getting used to, but he liked it. He was going to miss the ‘M’ but he was still Misha and people had better still call him that. If Mylo stopped calling him Mimi he may cry, but he doubted that would happen. She was eternally Mymy to him, and he felt it was the same for her.

“And if he’s up for it when he wakes up, we’ll all go visit Coroth,” Sh’ran said as rested his head back against C’dhin trying very hard not to close his eyes. He didn’t think he’d stay awake if they shut for more than a heartbeat. Hopefully this period of constant vigilance didn’t last too long, it was terrible. Still totally worth it for Dyoricath.

"Sh'ran," C'dhin tested it out and found Dyoricath had the right idea. It was a good name, smooth, and flowed off the tongue nicely. No doubt he'd still accidentally say Misharan for a while or use a nickname but C'dhin knew his friend wasn't the sort to care. Actually, Sh'ran likely would hate it if people stopped using nicknames with him. That was one thing that sucked about not having a tight group of friends before Impressing; not many knew or remembered his given name and he didn't have many people that used it or a name stemming from it anyway.

I guess that name is good. But M'ra would have been funnier. Tell him I still love him despite the name and I want to meet Dyoricath as soon as he's up for it! C'dhin smiled at his dragon's demanding messages, knowing she was doing her best to respect the little dragonet by not simply speaking to Sh'ran herself like she used to. Hopefully once Dyoricath was stronger and could handle it, he'd be okay with Coroth's occasional intrusion to greet her friend. If not, he supposed he was going to be playing messenger a lot more.

"Coroth hoped you would get M'ra. Apparently she likes how it sounds like someone shouting as they jump out to scare you," he sighed, but knew Sh'ran would see the humour in it. Coroth had her own brand of humour and Sh'ran seemed to like it or at least humoured her attempts at humour. "And she still loves you and will do her best to patiently wait to meet Dyoricath."

C'dhin fell silent after he passed along the message, simply enjoying the time spent with a friend. It was also obvious how tired that friend was and how little he seemed inclined to move. In case he was close to or actually asleep, C'dhin did his best not to move and didn't speak again, not wanting to ruin the moment. He remembered how little sleep he could get at times after Coroth hatched and she had been a healthy baby. He couldn't begin imagining the fear racing through Sh'ran right then and how it must keep him awake.

Forming any further words felt like it took too much effort, so instead of speaking Sh’ran gave an amused hum, settling more comfortably against C’dhin. Of course Coroth had opinions about what his name should have been, that was so like her. He wasn’t sure if he fell asleep or not after that, it was kind of fuzzy, but he was comfy and warm and Dyoricath was asleep and C’dhin was there and it was nice. Sh’ran definitely would have fallen asleep proper if Dyoricath hadn’t shifted, rousing slowly from sleep, and Misha jolted to alertness, focusing in on his dragon as Dyoricath slowly woke up.

The little blue nuzzled his nose into Sh’ran’s leg, making soft sleepy noises. Then he froze, realizing he and his lifemate weren’t alone and his head snapped up. His eyes widened, staring, and then he let out a loud shriek, no words caught up in it, just a distressed, angry sound that was far too loud in the small room. Misha curled forward immediately, trying to shush him, pulling him snugly into his arms, but the piercing noise didn’t stop, and Sh’ran was buffeted with Who! Who! Don’t know! Didn’t give permission, go away! from Dyoricath, and he stood up and stepped out of the hug, pulling Dyoricath up with him - the dragonet still small enough to be held with little difficulty - and whispered soft reassurances to him.

“Shh, he’s a friend, it’s okay, I’m sorry I didn’t wake you up when he got here, I couldn’t bear to disturb you, it’s alright, shh.” Dyoricath curled his tail around Sh’ran’s waist possessively. Mine. Didn’t say he could come in. Our room. Ours. the blue said, twining as much of himself as possible around his rider. He wasn’t expecting anyone else to be with Sh’ran when he woke up! How very dare! Sh’ran was his and he hadn’t been awake to inspect this newcomer before he got so close to them. No, no, no, not allowed. But of course it wasn’t Sh’ran’s fault, obviously not, his rider had been thinking of him, not wanting to wake him, because he cared, cared so much about Dyoricath, but he didn’t like people in their room, touching his rider, because Sh’ran was his.

Misha giggled, too tired to respond any more intelligently. “I think we surprised him,” he said, trying not to laugh, glancing over towards C’dhin. Dyoricath shifted his wings so he was blocking Sh’ran’s line of sight - or, rather C’dhin’s. This time Sh’ran couldn’t not laugh, and pressed his forehead fondly against his dragon. Dyoricath purred, pleased; see, his rider understood, wasn’t upset, because he cared about Dyoricath most. He turned his head to watch the newcomer suspiciously; he wouldn’t bother to learn this person’s name, not until Dyoricath deemed him worthy to spend time with them.

“Here, if I introduce you properly would you like to meet Coroth? She’s green,” Sh’ran asked, deciding it may be best to get into a larger space, and that maybe he would be less mistrustful of a fellow dragon. Dyoricath considered it, still glaring at C’dhin, which made Misha giggle some more. He wasn’t fully convinced it was the best course of action, but as long as the greenrider was getting any ideas about Sh’ran, Dyoricath supposed it was all right. Maybe being closer to his own dragon would let her better keep her rider in check and not all over his. Humph.

Fine, he said, unwrapping himself from Sh’ran and landing lightly on the ground, stumbling slightly when his feet hit the floor, let’s go meet her. Dyoricath kept himself firmly between Sh’ran and the greenrider, still eyeing him warily. Misha raised an eyebrow at C’dhin with a grin and gestured for him to lead the way. Probably better not to have C’dhin walking behind him where Dyo couldn’t keep an eye on him. If he was lucky Coroth would distract Dyoricath enough he could at least talk to C’dhin, though something told Misha hugs were off the table for the day. Maybe some other day when he didn’t wake up to an unexpected guest.

C'dhin scrambled away even as Sh'ran moved away with Dyoricath. In hindsight, it really wasn't a good idea to sneak up on a sleeping dragonet that hadn't met him yet. He knew Dyoricath wouldn't intentionally hurt him but he could have flailed around in fear and a claw could have connected with skin--his or Sh'ran's and C'dhin didn't like either option.

"Yeah, he's not the only one," C'dhin found his voice, a hand pressed over his heart as he felt it racing from the scare of the moment. Dyoricath was panicked and loud. That shriek alone probably shaved a few years off his life and then the guilt from the fear in Dyoricath's voice wasn't helping that count either. And now he was starting to worry about his friend and the giggling. How exhausted was Sh'ran that his only reaction to everything was to laugh? It was probably better than crying or panicking but it didn't seem healthy considering Sh'ran looked like shit from lack of sleep. Not that he was likely to get a chance to say anything about it with Dyoricath being so upset.

A slight nod was given at the idea and C'dhin scooped up his bag as he headed out of the room and back out to the ledge where Coroth sat waiting. She was doing her best to wait patiently as they came into view, sitting primly to make a good first impression. As much as she wanted to give Misharan--Sh'ran--her usually greeting, Coroth refrained. Her rider had already startled the baby enough that she didn't want to add to it by giving out nuzzles.

Upon seeing the tiny blue that seemed even tinier up close than from the ledge at the Hatching, Coroth laid down, trying to make herself seem a bit smaller as well and more approachable as she lowered her head to his level. Hello, little one! It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm sorry my rider was being his usual dumb self again and surprised you like that. She included C'dhin in their talk but kept Sh'ran out, cluing in quicker than her human that Dyoricath wasn't in the mood for sharing his human counterpart.

C'dhin blew out his breath, rumbling his lips as he did so. Sometimes he wondered why Coroth chose him and now he was wondering if he should have been a dragonrider at all with the way Dyoricath reacted to his presence. He walked a bit away from Coroth to give the dragons extra space and flopped himself down on the ground so he could pull out the boxes of cookies and cupcakes. "I made you some goodies. I, uh, got a bit carried away so these are all for you. Everyone else has their own already."

Sh’ran wanted so badly to reach out and reassure C’dhin, who looked so worried, that it was fine, would be fine, but he didn’t want Dyoricath to start screeching again, or have him decided he truly didn’t like C’dhin, so he stamped down the impulse as best he could. Dyoricath was young, he’d been startled, it wouldn’t be long before he was more self-assured about himself and his place in Misha’s life and would warm up to C’dhin and everyone else. One of the Healers came up to him when they got to the ledge - because of course everyone had heard Dyoricath, it’s not like the little blue knew how to be subtle yet - and Sh’ran quickly explained how it was alright, Dyoricath had just been startled to see someone he didn’t know right when he woke up. The Healer nodded, giving Dyoricath a quick once-over from a distance to reassure himself the dragonet was fine, before heading back to the room designated for the Healers and Assistants. Sh’ran sighed and turned back to Dyoricath in time to see him hesitantly go up to meet Coroth, tentatively bumping their noses together - his so much smaller than hers. Misha smiled, relieved. He could feel Dyoricath still wasn’t entirely convinced about this whole meeting his rider’s friends thing, but at least he was giving Coroth a chance and wasn’t yelling any more.

When C’dhin spoke Sh’ran pulled his eyes from the dragons to look at him, face breaking into a fond smile at the revealed baked goods. “Only a bit? I’d love to see what very carried away looks like,” he teased, moving to go sit by C’dhin, carefully picking a spot a good few feet away from him - he could feel Dyoricath turn from talking with Coroth to watch him, making sure he wasn’t getting too close. Misha wanted so badly to sit closer to him, wishing he could go back to using C’dhin as a pillow and maybe take a nap, knowing Coroth and C’dhin would keep an eye on Dyoricath, and wake him if he was needed. But he wouldn’t, because it would upset Dyoricath, who was clearly hesitant about people getting too close to his rider, and Sh’ran wouldn’t intentionally upset him like that.

He thanked C’dhin for the boxes of goodies, eagerly snagging the box of cupcakes and taking one out, sighing over how good it smelled before actually taking a bite. It was amazing as usual, but Misha thought it was extra good, his first C’dhin-treat since Impressing. He told C’dhin as much. “Best cupcake you’ve ever made, in my very humble opinion,” Sh’ran informed him, trying - and failing - to not inhale the cupcake, before reaching for a second. “I am going to get so fat throughout Weyrlinghood and it will be entirely your fault,” he said cheerfully, then took a bite out of the second cupcake and gave a contented hum. So good. C’dhin was a fucking gift and Misha really, really hoped he and Dyoricath would get along once the dragonet recovered from his surprise.

At least Dyoricath seemed to be getting along alright with Coroth? When Sh’ran checked back in on them after being distracted by his cupcakes he found Dyoricath had draped himself over Coroth’s neck, the green resting her head and neck fully along the ground with the tiny blue settled in right behind her head. Sh’ran didn’t miss that they were positioned in a way that allowed Dyoricath to keep an eye on both him and C’dhin while they spoke - Sh’ran caught pieces of the conversation, because while Dyo sounded like he was trying to be quiet he still wasn’t great at keeping his words from the room at large. Coroth’s side of the conversation was completely inaudible to him, though he could guess at some of it based on Dyoricath’s responses.

“See, he’s better when he’s not surprised,” Misha smiled at C’dhin, resisting the urge to scoot over a few feet so he could lie down and use C’dhin as a pillow.

C'dhin laughed at the idea of Sh'ran getting fat but somehow managed to keep his comment about there being more to hang onto to himself. It wasn't fair to flirt and allude to sex just days after Impression. He could remember those early days and months with Coroth needing all of his attention and not really even having a chance to think about sex, but when he did--boy did he miss it. He was lucky that Coroth, while an evil bitch that tormented him regularly, matured quickly and was okay with more intimate interactions as soon as the ban was lifted. In hindsight he wished he had had more restraint, maybe it wouldn't have provoked her own cycle into being every three months.

"I promise to take my role as your class' personal baker seriously and provide you each with a choice selection weekly. I'll even lie and say they're sugar-free so you don't think you're getting fat." C'dhin teased but was already thinking about how he could adjust some of his recipes to have less sugar and how he would need to make a plan on what to bake and when. He'd hate to double up on the same type of sweet too regularly and have them get sick of them.

C'dhin followed Sh'ran's gaze to the dragons and smiled at the way Dyoricath was draped on Coroth and the way his green seemed to enjoy it. She'd always had a soft spot for the babies and sometimes even the human kind, letting the weyrbrats climb on her--though she drew the line at being painted. "You're probably right. I should have known better than to sneak up on a sleeping dragon." And if they were going to visit regularly, maybe he'd be able to earn the little blue's trust enough that he won't have to be watched every second. C'dhin hadn't missed the way Dyoricath sat either and felt like he was back in the Hold of his childhood, the head of the kitchen constantly watching their every move, waiting for them to mess up again. It was a bit unsettling.

C'dhin tore his gaze away and back to Sh'ran and hesitated as he thought about sharing the message Gabrin had given him. The Lord had seemed quite put out when C'dhin thought to tell him the news about Sh'ran the day before. He had been given a message to pass along but now C'dhin thought he'd edit it a bit to keep Dyoricath appeased. "So, our mutual friend at Telgar Hold told me to pass along his congratulations at Impressing and he'll see you at graduation." C'dhin kind of wondered if Gabrin would actually remember Sh'ran by that point but the new bluerider did have a way of leaving an impression so he wouldn't be surprised either way.

“Saying they’re sugar-free will not keep me from getting rounder,” Misha said with a pout. He didn’t actually care that much, Sh’ran was sure he’d be able to work off anything he put on once he could do things other than sit in a weyr all day, and he would always be extraordinarily pretty no matter what, but it was something he could gripe about that was far less serious than, say, the health of his dragonet or how their future might go. Which were much more anxiety inducing than the risk of over-consuming delectable baked goods. “I’ll still eat everything you bring, obviously, because I can’t say no to you or anything you bake, and it would be unfair of me to deny my classmates and the Healers their share now they’ve gotten a taste, but I’m definitely holding you responsible,” he said fondly, taking another few bites of cupcake. The cupcakes really were fucking amazing. He’d manage to not eat them all and make himself sick for Dyoricath, though.

It took Sh’ran a second to figure out who their mutual friend in Telgar Hold was. He did remember though, perhaps too well, and squashed those memories down. Something told him Dyoricath wouldn’t take such thoughts well. Not with the way the little blue kept glaring at C’dhin. Misha didn’t even have the energy to do anything naughty with his greenrider, he just wanted to use him as a pillow. Apparently Dyoricath’s definition of ‘intimacy’ was much broader than his.

“Thanks for the message. Something tells me he won’t be the only friend I don’t see until after graduation,” Sh’ran said with a sigh. To console himself he tried one of the cookies and was quickly engrossed by how good it was. Ugh, he really was going to get fat if he was going to eat sweets to distract himself every time he started thinking about sex or attractive men. He sighed again, finishing off the cookie and licking the crumbs off his fingers. Dyoricath was so lucky Sh’ran loved him, he decided, looking back over at the blue who was still watching them from his perch on Coroth’s neck, and smiled at how cute Dyo’s grumpy face was.

“It won’t be that long with everyone. Just the ones that are harder to bring into the Weyr or get you out to see.” C’dhin was doing his best to stay positive for his friend but he really wasn’t sure how long it would take for Dyoricath to warm up to the idea of sharing his rider. Some dragons took a lot longer than others and while it wasn’t that common, he knew there were cases where some didn’t like intimacy until almost graduation. He really hoped for Sh’ran’s sanity that wouldn’t happen to him and that Dyoricath was just in a mood from waking up to a stranger in his space.

He laughed when he saw Sh’ran’s reaction to the cookie and shook his head. “Try and save some of those! They have to get you through until my next visit. Or are you just trying to get me to come sooner regardless of the whole getting fat thing?” He’d never get tired of seeing Sh’ran enjoy his baking though. The man gave the best reactions, even if they always were a variant of ‘amazing’ but C’dhin felt like he was learning how to read each face better now and could distinguish when it was ‘amazing’ and ‘really fucking amazing, holy crap’ which was what he always strived for.

“I’m really happy you Impressed. And to a blue, of course! I knew you would, Misha, but Impression looks so good on you.” C’dhin blurted out as he watched the way Sh’ran looked at his dragon. There was such joy and love in that expression and it was infectious, despite the scare of earlier that his racing heart was finally over. He couldn’t stop from smiling as he looked back and forth between the blue pair, even if one of them was still watching him with decidedly less than lovey eyes.

Don’t worry about my rider. He’s just getting a little sentimental as he remembers when I was your size. He’ll continue to behave, though. Coroth softly assured her new little friend as she worried a bit that he might get upset soon over C’dhin’s gushing. At least her rider had enough common sense not to try closing the gap between them. Yet. It was only a matter of time before he slipped up, even if it was the next time they all gathered together.

Are you comfortable, Dyoricath? You’re welcome to sleep there for a bit if you’d like. I’ll keep C’dhin away from Sh’ran for you.

“If I eat them all right now would you bring me more tomorrow or would you force me to wait? Because if it gets you to come back so soon the stomach ache may be worth it,” Misha teased, still having no actual intention to make himself sick eating all the sweets at once. Sh’ran really was a terror when he felt under the weather, and Dyoricath was far too young for him to willingly subject the dragonet to that.

Sh’ran beamed at C’dhin, blushing happily at the praise. He was so excited to have Impressed! He would have been happy with any color dragon, of course, but Misha was so very excited to be a bluerider. Not to be too stereotypical, but blueriders always seemed like they had the most fun. And Sh’ran was all about having fun. He did, however, do his best to avoid thinking about another reason he was happy to have Impressed blue, related to C’dhin telling him a month or two ago (that recently?) he’d like it if once Misha Impressed their dragons ended up mated, because he did kind of like the idea, but Dyoricath was only days old! Far too young for that sort of thing, and Sh’ran kept those thoughts buried as much as he could, especially while C’dhin and Coroth were there. None of that mattered just yet, only Dyo and making sure he grew up into the best, healthiest dragon he could be.

Dyoricath was far more concerned with the way Coroth’s rider was looking at his than anything Sh’ran was actively not thinking just then. His Sh’ran was rather fond of the other rider, and Dyoricath wasn’t sure how he felt about it. He certainly didn’t like the idea of the man getting too close to Sh’ran. His rider. His. And Dyoricath didn’t like sharing, he’d decided. He grumbled softly, glaring at Coroth’s rider. Though Dyoricath could hardly blame the man for wanting his rider - Sh’ran was amazing, after all. Still, Sh’ran was his.

He shifted a little when Coroth spoke to him, though he didn’t take his eyes off her rider. Sleep would be nice, he thought, and rumbled consideringly. His nap had been interrupted so very rudely. Coroth was nice, and seemed capable of keeping her rider in line. Humming softly Dyoricath slid off Coroth’s neck and curled up right behind her jaw. He tucked his head under her chin, but not before shooting her rider one more glare and making a threatening grumble - though it was far cuter than it was intimidating. Sh’ran managed not to giggle at how adorable it was.

C'dhin watched Dyoricath slip down and curl up with Coroth. It was admittedly adorable and way too early to hope this meant the dragons would end up mated when the blue was older but it was a good sign all the same. At least they didn't hate each other upon sight so that was something. With his luck that probably just meant they'd grow to hate each other by graduation but he'd survive that, just like he survived all of the Flights and cat calls when he ventured out in public.

But since Dyoricath was currently napping...

Don't you dare move from where you are. Either of you. Tell, Sh'ran that since I still don't want to intrude on his mind. But you move and I will sit on you. I mean it!

"I wasn't going to!" C'dhin shot back out loud and then blushed when he realised what he had done. With a bit of a laugh and rubbing at the back of his neck, he turned to Sh'ran to explain the outburst. "She's worried we'll move closer and upset Dyoricath again. I think we learned the lesson of not doing anything while he's sleeping." He didn't want to startle the blue again and was perfectly happy to just hang out in the sun with his friend and chat about nothing and everything. Of course sitting a bit closer together would have been nice as well but he'd take what he could get and wait until Dyoricath was older and ready to share.

"So you missed out on some major relationship drama recently," C'dhin started his tale, knowing Sh'ran would be all over the gossip, especially since he knew the person that got in the middle of the drama. It was a good place to start with their catching up and random chit chat and it seemed to appease Coroth enough that she stopped imitating Dyoricath with the glare. With luck, they'd have an hour, maybe two, to hang out before Grumpy woke up again.
