Trust [Jisralna] - Aparicus - 30.Oct.12

It was late when Aparicus finally woke, a feeling of unease and dread heavy on her chest as her subconscious slowly warned her that this was NOT her room.  Opening her eyes to find herself laying next to a familiar bouquet of flowers she’s left in the Healer’s Hall two days before, she made a mental note that they were due for fresh flowers before the memories of WHY she was there came flooding back.  Out of the bed instantly, she pushed her back against the wall and was relieved to find that she was actually still clothed – and in her own clothes.

Breathing deeply as she pressed her back against the cold stone, she found the room empty except for a few furnishings and a glowbasket near her flowers.  Turning to the window, she found it dark outside and had to close her eyes again.  How long had she been out?  She was sure it was past supper, but hopefully it wasn’t completely in the middle of the night.  Lifting her skirt gingerly, she found the cut she’d come to see the healers about had been stitched and she winced.

He’d done it.  It wasn’t a dream, he’d actually drugged her, tricked her, lied to her and then touched her.  Wiping away a tear with the palm of her hand, she reached into the glow basket to snatch a single stone from it before sliding it into her pocket and hesitating.  There next to the glow basket was a small jar of numbweed.  Snatching it, she slipped it into her other pocket before quietly limping to the door.  She’d put a little of the numbweed on when she got to her own room with Jisralna.  For now all she wanted, despite the pain, was to get OUT of the healer’s hall.

She was amazed that she managed to make it through the Hall as well as the Weyr to her own room without bumping into anyone.  It was a blessing and as she opened the door, she slipped inside quietly, latching the door behind her before finding Jisralna still awake.  That made her breath a little easier.  So it was after dinner, but not late enough for her friend to have gone to sleep.  She at least hadn’t been there for more than a few hours.

Of course, Aparicus didn’t take in consideration the way she looked, with her skirt torn and bloody as she walked to her bed with a light limp before nearly collapsing on it.  “I’m s-sorry I m-missed dinner, Jisralna.”  She said, apologizing to her friend.  They’d long since made a habit of going together every day and she had no idea what her friend would think about being stood up.  Even so, Apari had tears threatening her eyes again as she sat on her own bed replaying what had happened in her mind.
