742.06.13 | Water & Ink - Kor'is - 13.Jun.21

When did he become Cazan’s errand boy? He was fairly sure that was T’ryn but there he was bringing something to Yfris and putting up with his friend’s outlandish ways as he was dragged around for a tour of the Hold and then to lunch with his family before the damned lordling finally put together a reply letter and a package of his own. Kor’is managed to escape before Yfris did any further dragging and returned to Telgar Weyr a few hours later than he expected. No doubt Cazan was aware of what would happen since she said there wasn’t a rush on getting back to her.

As they circled low to stop in at the goldrider’s weyr, Malvayth informed them that the twins were down for a nap and therefore Cazan was napping as well. Kor’is had no interest in waking any of them up and told Malvayth he would just leave the bag on the table and leave. Once he had successfully completed that, Kor’is found himself with his afternoon free. Instinct was to head back to his own weyr and paint but it was a lovely day out where the sun was bright and warm but not trying to melt him.

We can go swimming! Taith enthusiastically suggested as they landed on their ledge. It was a decent idea and kept them out of trouble. In theory. It was hard to say what Taith could get into at any given time but at least Malvayth seemed to on guard duty while everyone slept and wouldn’t drag Taith into trouble that day.

Several minutes later and Kor’is had changed into shorts and an old shirt that he left unbuttoned. The day was nice enough to splash around in the water if he wanted to but also still cool enough that he liked the idea of having some sort of covering when he sat along the edge of the lake. His plan consisted of sketching while Taith swam and then perhaps a swim of his own to wrap up their excursion.

So it was when they landed with Kor’is carefully sliding free of the straps-free dragon before Taith gave a trill of delight and scampered into the water. Kor’is shook his head at the enthusiasm and walked along the edge of the lake until he was closer to the edge of the Bowl. It provided a little shade but mostly it was the view he was interested in as he sat down and pulled out his sketchbook.

It was only as his light had shifted noticeably that Kor'is looked up from his work and saw where the sun now sat. How had he been uninterrupted for so long? That never happened when he was anywhere outside as someone always seemed to be nosy and had to come poke at him. But he had been left alone and Taith had swam happily on his own for a while and was now sunning. Kor'is had even sketched Taith as he lay still for once, napping and content.

But as much as he would have liked to continue enjoying their time outside, his stomach was beginning to protest the hour and Kor'is didn't feel like missing out on evening meal. Never anything good left if you waited too long. He quietly packed everything up and sent a mental nudge to Taith to let him know of the plans. You can stay longer. I'm going to head to dinner first and then home. Okay! Taith gave a stretch but that was the extent of his movement before he settled back in to soak up the last of the day's rays.

Kor'is found he was smiling as he started his walk and wasn't quite sure what to make of his good mood. He'd worry about what that meant later.
