742.05.03 | Out of the Shadows - Random Event - 03.May.21

The stranger watched from the shadows of the neighboring ledge as the overprotective bronzerider left. It wouldn't have been too much of an inconvenience to go in and handle things with the blonde's presence, the stranger was sure they could take the pair on if needed, but the dragons... that would have been an added complication. One sleepy looking gold would be easy enough to deal with if the stranger was quick, even if she had a blue companion helping her to keep watch.

The dragons began to yawn more and settled down together, large faceted eyes blinking closed until the beasts let out soft sighs. The stranger took the opportunity to move back through the recently vacated gold weyr and out into the hall, slipping quietly into the door to the current target's home. Cazan had grown her hair out it seemed, and was sitting at a table with her back to the door. The stranger wasted no time in pulling out a solid and sturdy club, bringing it crashing down hard on the back of the... man's head.

That was certainly not a pregnant woman that slumped over and fell off of the chair to the ground. Was she using her twin as a decoy on purpose? The stranger scowled, drawing a knife to try and quickly finish the job, but the sound had already caught the goldrider's attention. Blue eyes widened for a moment, startled as instead of running, the woman opted to surge awkwardly forward, half moon knife brandished in one hand. The stranger dodged that easily enough with a scowl, glaring down at Cazan before slapping the weapon away with only a minor cut to the back of an arm for the effort.

The punch was just as unexpected, solid and striking up at the jaw to make the stranger let out a low grunt of pain. The stranger had a knife too though, and was no stranger to wielding it. The knife darted out with finesse, going for the throat, but knocked slightly off course. It still hit flesh though, burrowed in to a face as the goldrider screamed and tried to lurch away.

And then the scream was joined by something else, enraged and full of venom, as a small bronze firelizard launched at the stranger's face, heedless of any danger as it clawed and bit and flapped. A dragon roared nearby and the stranger scowled, giving the goldrider a hard shove to clear some space before grabbing at the tiny bronze beast as it tried to rip and tear through the protection of the mask. Instead of slipping between to escape, Sir tore at the arm and gloved hand that grabbed him instead before being rudely thrown into a wall.

The stranger had already taken too much time and turned to run back out of the weyr, taking the route that incoming healers would be least likely encountered on. No time to dwell on failure for now, instead the wound to the arm was quickly covered up as the stranger ran, the mask was adjusted to hide the scratches that had made it through there as well. There was still more to do before the stranger could be done for the day.
