741.11.23 | Chilled Wine - Je'ler - 23.Nov.20

Je'ler grumbled under his breath about the cold as Isperinath landed. The green dragon didn't bother to comment that it was always his idea to bring wine to these cold places and that they could have stayed home. It wouldn't stop her mate from complaining, and it wouldn't stop him from delivering the wine, so why bother? Instead she waited patiently while he unloaded the wine and set it off to the side.

That just left the task of carrying everything in, and even though the small casks were easy enough to carry, he would still need to make two trips. Unless he had help. He looked up and pointed at the first person he spotted, a red headed woman. "Hey! Think you could give me a hand?" He gave her a grin. "I just need help running these down to the storage rooms. I've got some extra you can help me drink afterwards in payment."

Remembering his manners, Je'ler paused to introduce himself. "Oh, I'm Je'ler of Green Isperinath. She's the lovely right over there," he said as he nodded towards his dragon as she quietly watched.

"Sounds like a fine reward to me," Elloren said, happy to help. She winked at Isperinath. "You've a fine lifemate, Greenrider Jel'er. Beautiful colouring, perfectly gorgeous proportions, really. But they are, aren't they, dragons? I suppose I'm a touch besotted, me."

That she really meant as she hefted a cask with ease.

"Pay no mind. Eventually the Sands'll prove or not. Storage is, ah yes, this way." She been here long enough by now to know her way up, down, and sideways.

"Elloren, my name, rider," she said, knowing she'd forgotten yet again to introduce herself. Brilliant. She looked airy, now. Before she set off, she took a long look at the green dragon and smiled warmly. The spicy dragon scent was something that made her count the ways she was Faranth blessed, honestly.

Isperinath gave a pleased swish of her tail at the complement, just barely brushing the tip of her tail against Elloren before she started to walk away with her load. I like her. She's polite and has a good eye. Je'ler chuckled softly as he grabbed the other two small casks, one on each shoulder.

"She is my lovely lady. Ah so you're a candidate! Hopefully you don't have to stand for too long before your dragon finds you." As much as Je'ler hadn't been invested at all in his own kidnapping induced candidacy, he found it easy enough to be nice and encouraging too candidates. Especially since they usually were much more sure of wanting to be a dragonrider than he had been.

"Lovely to meet you, Elloren. So how long have you been a candidate for? And more importantly, what is your favorite drink?"

The corners of her eyes crinkled at the green's brush and she looked satisfied. Everyone should be complimented, especially with that colouring! Elloren grinned at Jel'er. It was too easy to guess she was Standing even if she hadn't said two words about it.

"This is my first, my brother and I absconded for Benden when it opened and our older brother transferred from Telgar. We all promised to Impress and stick close by each other. Not that Da likes it much but he can't complain too loudly."

She thought for a moment.

"I like a good Benden white, light and not too dry. You can't live at Benden Hold without becoming acquainted with the wine and how to taste it."

"Must be nice having some family there to stand with you. Maybe you'll all be able to stick close, but even if you get transferred to different weyrs, it won't be that hard to visit each other with a dragon." It was an odd idea to him, having people that dedicated to that he would try to stay with. He knew it happened obviously, he knew a few riders who had found mates they were devoted to. The idea just didn't sit right with him. Too much could go wrong.

Wine was much simpler. "A white? I think I could help with that. One of these is a nice light white, just dry enough to have a bit of crisp. I also make a nice buttery white that has a lot of body and some spiced notes, but I didn't bring that one with me this trip."

Once they reached the storage room and sat things down, he grabbed a flask and took a long drink from it before passing it over. "Try that. If you like it we can tap one of these to give it a proper taste to make sure it survived the trip."

She gave it a try and nodded slowly. That would do, indeed. Especially if they could tap it to check to make sure it wine had travelled well. She was actually wearing her favorite pair of green breeches today, the ones with reinforced leather all the way to the knee. It was fine and rich like the velvety soft green of the rest of the breeches. They were thoroughly hardy for working any task.

The same colour, a dark and rich mossy green comprised her tunic which was just cut low enough to just lightly reveal the creamy pale, freckled swell of her breasts. A light green sash and pair of heavily used boots in deep, deep green-black finished off the ensemble. With the blaze of red-gold hair pulled back into long braid, she cut quite a figure as she passed the flask back.

"It's a good vintage, crisp, without being overly dry. I'd have a proper glass of it or two. Very nice."
