741.05.23 | Dance the night away - August - 29.May.20

August adjusted the dress she wore and looked around those who were gathered. Her dress was a simple affair, a sheath of olive green cotton split at the hem and cinched at the waist. The split was high enough that when she moved just right the entire expanse of a thigh could be seen. She was modest enough that her upper arms were covered as was her chest. No one could accuse her of being on the prowl. Not that she'd decided if she was or not. Hand reached out and grabbed the glass off a tray that was carried by a passing drudge and she drank the wine inside.

One of the blueriders had given her a ride and was supposed to be her chaperon but neither could agree that a woman of her age needed a chaperone so the man had simply faded into the background. August didn't mind and it gave her time to survey the crowd and people watch. She enjoyed watching the people at these things, they always started with controlled chaos before the control slipped and the wild came out.

Arm circled her waist and she used that arm to prop the other up as she grinned around her glass. The wine was delicious, something she would expect from Benden and she hummed lightly as she sipped it. Maybe she should just jump on the dance floor and let loose. As soon as the thought was created it was tossed out. She could get wild when she wanted but truthfully August needed a few more glasses of wine to get her to shake her ass on the dance floor.

She motioned for someone to take her glass and grabbed another. Liquid courage never hurt anyone.

RE: 741.05.23 | Dance the night away - R'vi - 31.May.20

R’vi loved Gathers and parties of any sort. He and N’vian used to throw the best parties back in the good old days of pre-Impression Katila. The UnImpressed parties were always wild and a good way to shake off the disappointment of yet again not finding their mate on the Sands. Sometimes he couldn’t clearly recall everything that happened but R’vi had always chalked that up to meaning it had been fan-fucking-tastic and it needed to happen again.

Gathers at Holds were a lot tamer than anything he threw or normally attended but they still had their charming points. Sometimes he found an item for his weyr that he otherwise wouldn’t have thought about needing or replacing but usually it was a place to socialise with various people. While his reputation was built more on sex and not deep and meaningful conversations, R’vi still liked to chat about random shit with strangers, especially with a few drinks in him at the beer tent. Sometimes he would just watch and eavesdrop to see what was important to holders or what their views on the Weyrs were.

Then there was the dance floor. He was headed there now, thinking it was late enough to find it packed with potentially loose morals. He was disappointed when he saw it was jumping but with happy and well-behaved couples. Boring. He supposed the best time was when the sun set and it was harder to see the silent advances being made. He was about to turn away to roam around some more when he saw a woman alone and tossing back her drink before grabbing another one. It took a moment but he finally recalled why she looked so familiar and smiled as he approached the Candidate.

He came to stop beside her, looking in the same direction so he could watch the dancers before finally speaking. “You know, dancing is just a vertical expression of a horizontal desire. We could just skip the dancing and I could take you back to my weyr.” R’vi grinned at her, confident in himself but not sure if she would actually take him up on the offer or laugh it off as a cute pick-up line that broke the ice for conversation. Wouldn’t know until he tried!

August watched from the corner of her eye as R'vi approached her. She was secretly pleased and a little terrified that he was actually coming to stand beside her. Even a woman from Fort that had been searched recently might have heard the rumors about the Twins. A couple of heartbreakers who enjoyed life and here was one right next to her. Her dark eyes were already snapping with humor when he stopped and followed her line of sight.

The words that came out of his mouth might have brought a slight blush to the craftbred woman's cheeks even as her own sass was rising. She smirked over the rim of her glass as she continued to watch the dancers and took another sip of her wine. That smirk was still on full lips as she turned her head to look at him. "Does that line often work?" she asked with a quiet chuckle. "Not to say that it won't but I'd prefer a dance on my feet before a dance in the sheets."

Her grin matched his and she winked at him. "If you can show me a good time on the floor maybe I'll show you a good time in your weyr," she propositioned him with a blush and grin.

RE: 741.05.23 | Dance the night away - R'vi - 05.Jun.20

"A challenge? That's new," R'vi was still grinning, still having a great time, and not put off by having to work a little for his potential reward. It was a rarity, though. His reputation preceded him, sometimes even with Candidates, like now. It seemed she knew who he was and hadn't been put off by how blunt he was despite her being holdbred. Perhaps she had been at the Weyr long enough or she was one of the rare holders that didn't have a stick up the ass.

Taking her up on the challenge to show her a good time with dancing, R'vi grabbed her cup and set it down on a table before offering his hand for her to take. He then led her out to an open spot, contemplating the type of dancing she would both enjoy and he could get away with at a Hold with the sun still up. Opting to start on the safer side and go with what the holders seemed to think was respectful spacing and touching, R'vi took up leading them through the song that was already under way.

"And yes, that line does sometimes work," R'vi stated when the song came to a close. Honestly, he didn't get to use that line as much as he would have preferred but when he prowled the dance square at a Gather, he was known to toss it out. He pulled her in close when the next song started up and whispered against her ear, "sometimes, I don't have to say anything at all."

With a chuckle, R'vi twirled her away but in the span of that motion and pulling her back in, he heard N'vian reminding him getting a name made the night go smoother and almost sighed--and then did when another voice made itself known. The imaginary voice is right. Don't be rude.

"The actual voice in my head pointed out I'm a rude jerk. I know you're a Candidate but I'm afraid I haven't had the pleasure of catching your name yet."

RE: 741.05.23 | Dance the night away - August - 22.Jun.20

Generally speaking, August was not shy but there was something about R'vi that made her so. Small blushes and heated skin as he led her out on to the dance floor. The first song and dance was a simple affair, something not too decadent and nothing that would offend the sensibilities of the holders around them. It was funny how she'd begun to think of herself less holder and more of the weyr the longer she lived at Fort Weyr. She was grinning when the song came to an end, thinking that was it for them but R'vi proved her wrong.

Lips opened on a quiet gasp and her eyes widened while cheeks flushed when he pulled her close. She swallowed when he whispered in her ear, the action causing a shiver to pebble her skin. And then he was twirling her away. It occurred to her when he reeled her back to him that August may have bitten off far more than she could chew, but she was in it now and there was no backing out. He'd rose to her challenge and now she had to do the same.

She laughed when he spoke of the voice in his head. She couldn't wait for the time when she had the same problem, something she was finding more and more true every day. "August," she said as she clung to him through the dance, "The voice in your head is welcome to it as well." She moved through the steps with him, the music swaying her body with his as she pressed against him. How many dances could she get out of him before August's own libido got the best of her? One or two more she was certain before her skin heated too much and she stuck tongue down his throat then and there.

RE: 741.05.23 | Dance the night away - R'vi - 08.Jul.20

“August,” R’vi tried the name out and decided he liked it, “it brings to mind heat and passion. I believe it suits you well.” While it was another silver-tongued line to help get her into his bed, it was said with sincerity though he knew some would argue that was just his very existence coming into play and he was sincerely trying to win her over. But he could give out a compliment without seeking reward! Sometimes.

“And don’t encourage him or you might have to put up with him as well,” he grinned as Vydoriath pointed out she’d likely be a better mate. “And Vydoriath passes along his greetings and hopes to meet you in person soon.” R’vi hoped as well since that meant they’d be leaving together. You never stop. At this point, I’m numb to it but sometimes still find it entertaining.

As the song came to an end, R’vi was about to make his next play but the harpers moved right into the next song and the grin stayed in place as he adjusted course. “What do you say, August? One more vertical dance before trying out horizontal?” He felt he was proving himself a capable dancer and giving her a good time on the dance floor—he’d even made her laugh! Besides, he may not have been the smartest bluerider, but he was the epitome of the bluerider stereotype and knew when a partner was enjoying themselves and wanted more.
