740.08.20 | A Brief Visit - J'shom - 26.Aug.19

It had been a few days since J’shom had heard the new Weyrlings were allowed guests now, (and apparently he’d heard a few days after they had started allowing visitors, as he’d been distracting himself and missed the information), but he’d chosen to wait a little longer before going to visit Beckitt. J’shom wanted to check in with his friend and former student, make sure he was doing alright, but he knew that the new bluerider - which disappointed Siolilth tremendously, though J’shom couldn’t say he felt the same - had many friends, and he wanted to make sure Beckitt’s closest friends had time to visit before he stopped by. He remembered Weyrlinghood, and any free time was something to be treasured. J’shom didn’t want Beckitt to feel pressured to spend time with him when he just wanted to rest or hang out with another friend. No, it wouldn’t due to crowd Beckitt or his dragonet, so J’shom waited.

About two weeks after the Hatching, J’shom felt enough time had passed it would be acceptable for an old teacher to stop by for congratulations. Really, he should probably wait another week or so - get Siolilth’s Flight out of the way - but J’shom wanted to confirm for himself that Beckitt was doing alright with… everything. But a quick visit should be fine, just long enough to say hello and so forth and then he’d wait a bit before stopping by again.

J’shom left Siolilth sunning on her ledge and set off on foot to find the weyr he’d been told currently housed the newest Weyrlings. Siolilth wasn’t due to fly for several days yet, but J’shom figured it best she didn’t go with him. The dragonets - and the Weyrlingmaster, his Assistants, and the Healers - would appreciate not having to deal with a persnickety green on the edges of being proddy. Just in case, and he wasn’t going to stay long anyway.

His knock was answered by one of the Assistants, who directed J’shom to one of the smaller rooms - it really was quite a large weyr, goodness - that was apparently Beckitt’s for the foreseeable future. He knocked on this second door.

“Little Bird? It’s J’shom, I was hoping to say hello. Are you busy?” he asked.

RE: 740.08.20 | A Brief Visit - B'kit - 27.Aug.19

While the past two weeks had been extremely busy, and he was decently sure he’d sleepwalked through the first one, Kitt had been missing J’shom. Things had been such a mess between the Touching and then Impressing, and it felt like it had been an eternity since he’d been around the greenrider. He had been so close to admitting his feelings the other day, but the harper had been so stubbornly… oblivious. It was disheartening, but he still had a few aces up his sleeve. All of which hinged around actually seeing him, and he’d been annoyingly absent.

Speaking of! “Come on in!” He called through the door, halfway through oiling Erebuth. The blue was happily soaking up the attention and barely noticed the door opening or a stranger stepping in till Kitt’s hands suddenly stopped. Disgruntled, Erebuth blinked open one eye and grumbled, burrowing his head under Kitt’s arm. Don’t want company he whined, completely unaware of projecting it. Loudly.

Kitt frowned, not thrilled with that being their first interaction. “Erebuth, this is my friend, J’shom. The one who taught me all those lovely songs you like. Don’t you want to meet him? He’s very nice.” He tickled his fingers at what he knew was a ticklish spot, making the little blue wiggle and poke his head back out with a draconic pout. “He’d probably help oil you if you asked nicely, since I help him with his Siolilth now and then.”

Erebuth looked at his rider who was clearly happy and not phased by this new person, then dubiously at J’shom and curled back up on Kitt’s lap, nudging his hand to begin again where he’d left off. Kitt shrugged apologetically and dipped the cloth in for more oil. “Two weeks I’ve been dying for you to meet him, and he cares more about being pampered. Sorry… Can you sit for a bit? He’s due for a nap again soon.” Am not he mumbled in his rumbly sleepy voice. “We’ll see.”

RE: 740.08.20 | A Brief Visit - J'shom - 01.Oct.19

J’shom smiled at the way Erebuth attempted to hide himself under Beckitt’s arm - B’kit, he’d have to remember, he’d even asked after it, but for some reason he kept forgetting - and complained about having guests. It was endearingly over dramatic as most things young dragonets did were. Siolilth had been a terror at that age, having plenty to say about all the people around them with no filter or volume control. Thank goodness she had outgrown the last two, even if she was still snide and opinionated.

“I don’t mind at all,” he said cheerfully at B’kit’s request, and moved to settle himself against the wall. J’shom wasn’t entirely sure if it would be better if Erebuth could see him or not, so he picked a spot where Erebuth could fairly easily keep an eye on him or ignore him with no more than a slight shift of his head. “Being pampered is very important at his age. Siolilth would argue it’s important at all ages, but she isn’t here so we can ignore that.” He smiled, watching B’kit oil the tiny dragonet. Goodness but Erebuth was small. From size alone he could almost be mistaken for a large firelizard, though color and proportions made it clear he was a dragon proper. J’shom couldn’t wait to watch him grow up.

Erebuth hummed happily as Kitt began oiling him again, eyes closing and ignoring the stranger as he sat against the wall nearby. Some things were more important. And even if he wasn’t altogether comfortable with this new person around, clearly his chosen was. As the man agreed that pampering was important, Erebuth turned to glance at him, approvingly. Maybe he wasn’t so bad after all.

B’kit chuckled as Erebuth rolled over suddenly, obligingly oiling his belly. “Sio would,” he agreed, grinning. “She’s too clever for her own good. She’s doing well? I haven’t seen either of you since just after the Gather and she was a bit out of sorts.” Maybe Siolith had been acting up again and that’s why he’d stayed away?

“Everything’s been so topsy turvy lately,” he said, face turning somewhat cloudy for a moment recalling the past few weeks, but quickly clearing again as Erebuth sighed blissfully. “But more than worth it.”
