740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - Sariel - 28.Jul.19

Leaving the eggs on the sand, Sariel examined a few of those still suffering from nausea and gently assisted one poor girl who seemed so frightened she couldn't move. Once she was finally ambulatory, Sariel walked her to the infirmary and left her charge with someone else.

She breathed in and spoke gently with one of the healers who gave her something for nausea and told her to rest. Touchings were supposed to be lovely but this one had been quite the opposite. It was strange and still unsettling, especially with the young gold's behaviour, her anger, her...hate flung toward the six eggs she'd clutched. Sariel had never seen such a thing.

Sariel walked, arms wrapped around herself as she walked back to the Candidates Barracks. She thought she'd done the best she could with the eggs and she'd pretty much promised to Stand for them. They'd left her chilled and shaken, wondering how anything could survive in such deeply steeped horror. It was the right word. Horror.

She wouldn't sleep well and yet she could have slept hours at the same time. Where had Thallyath gotten such a foul thought in her mind that had soaked so much into her that it had poisoned her clutch like this? How would they survive? She had to worry about Thallyath’s clutch, it was very much the Healer in her.

Sariel didn't notice the fact that she'd entered the common room but she could hear L'gan's voice as well as R'vi's. The recognition was so sweet it was sharp as she found an unoccupied chair and sank into it.

"Well," she murmured wearily. "That was certainly memorable."

RE: 740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - L'gan - 29.Jul.19

L’gan had volunteered for a while in the infirmary, wanting something to do while he waited for Sariel. They had agreed to meet up afterwards to check in, since she would be remaining in the Candidates barracks after tonight, and she was so excited. After a couple hours he had gone down to get some klah and take a break as there were too many cooks in the kitchen--or medics in the infirmary in this case. He just missed the first of the shocked candidates brought down.

While in the hall he heard, like the others around, Thallyath’s screams and the commotion as Mizeath confronted her. He was halfway to his feet when Semath reminded him they should stay out of the way unless called for; the last thing to do would be to get between two golds if they decided to fight. He grimaced, but agreed, and went to get another cup of klah and some information about what was going on. Unable to wait and knowing the dragons were undoubtedly talking about it as well, he reached out and asked, Semath, what’s happening?

Semath’s reply was delayed, and rather cryptic. The eggs are… wrong. Candidates are afraid, but Mizeath has Thallyath controlled. She won’t hurt them. She wouldn’t hurt who? The eggs? The candidates? But Semath didn’t know or wouldn’t say. She was upset, he could hear it in her voice, and little wonder. The green loved hatchings, loved meeting the new babies, and for so much tension to be surrounding these six eggs, it wasn’t easy on her.

He seized the cup of klah gratefully, warming his hands around it despite the heat of the afternoon. He looked up when he heard Sariel speak, reached over and squeezed her hand. “Bell, you’re alright? We’ve just heard rumors.” His eyes searched her face, concern etched on his own.

RE: 740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - Sariel - 31.Jul.19

"It was...really rather frightening," she said quietly and there was a slight lean into L'gan's presence. "I'm-- I'm really rather shaken. Is it so terrible if a blue dragon catches a gold?" Sariel rubbed at her arms. "I think Thallyath is harbouring some incredibly deep shame, so deep it seems to have seeped into the dragonets themselves. I've never been exposed to such horror. It was the very definition of bone-chilling."

She closed her eyes for a minute, pinching her nose as if that would help the rising headache.

"It looked like Thallyath might attack the eggs, us, the Sands. Luckily Mizeath was able to help diffuse things or who knows what would have happened."

RE: 740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - L'gan - 01.Aug.19

As she told him some of what had happened the blood drained from his face. “Shards… I’ve never heard of such a thing” He moved around the table to sit beside her, concerned. “You’re alright though? No one was hurt?”

His mind raced. Maulings and other tragedies were common enough at hatchings, that was true. And he’d heard rumors of candidates thinking some dragonets disliked them during the Touching, but this sounded more extreme. His normally unflappable Sariel was shaking, for goodness sake. L’gan slipped an arm around her, gently rubbing her back and arm.

She didn’t seem to be going into shock or anything, just shaken and a bit frightened, and no wonder. Being between two queens was daunting on any day but when one had a clutch and was pitching fits, that would be enough to rattle even the bravest bronze rider, he thought.

“Do you want me to stay? Semath and I can kip in with someone or find a spare weyr.” He knew that she wouldn’t be able to leave, having participated in the Touching.

RE: 740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - R'vi - 05.Aug.19

R’vi never paid Touchings too much mind when they were happening though he always popped in some time after to see what the Candidates thought. But having heard the ruckus on the Sands from his weyr, he started to get a bit worried. Vydoriath kept him informed, stating Thallyath wasn’t pleased—rightfully so with a blue winning her Maiden Flight and clutching so small—but reported no injuries.

Vydoriath noted that Candidates had left early, some looking shaken up, but R’vi didn’t want to crowd them, especially since others skilled in more than a comforting touch were likely already circling. Still, about an hour after that happened, R’vi found himself drawn to the common room, wondering if any of the Candidates he was a bit closer to had been among the ones to leave and how they were doing.

He scanned the room upon entering, finding some he knew casually before spotting L’gan with Sariel. He foolishly hadn’t even thought about the sweet Healer girl and he mentally kicked himself. It wasn’t that she was delicate and needed everyone holding her hand every step of the way but he supposed the woman starring in the middle of a recent threesome should have been a bit more to the forefront of his thoughts.

“Hey, Spicy,” R’vi greeted Sariel as he approached the pair. At some point during their night together he had given Sariel the nickname. He had instantly labelled her as cute and would have assumed meek and that she was just playing with the idea of being a bad girl with some dragonriders. But he had been pleasantly wrong. She was hot and could leave a man speechless, just like a spicy food.

“Not even gonna ask how you’re doing,” mostly because the shock was on her face so he knew she at least had a good view of the gold showdown and possibly even went through with the Touching. R’vi did wonder what was shown to the poor Candidates, knowing how many eggs he had Touched over the turns and how the negative ones got to him.

“Just gonna offer up some special blue comfort if green isn’t enough for you.” He grinned at them both, showing he was teasing L’gan but he was also serious as he took her hand in his. “Though he can come along again, I guess. He is a pretty good bed warmer, eh?”

RE: 740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - Sariel - 08.Aug.19

"If it's not a trouble, I could use the company," she said to L'gan. When R'vi's nickname caught her ear, she smiled brilliantly. He'd been such a joy with his carefree nature and he made good. Silly though it might seem, knowing these two were here helped and that was all that really mattered.

"I suppose he is," she murmured. "I can't find any faults, here." Nor could she find any with their dragons, both of whom were absolutely wonderful. As it is was she was just as enamoured of the dragons as their riders due to the fact that they fit both men perfectly. She wondered if dragons pick their riders based upon what could be improved as much as its own survival.

RE: 740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - L'gan - 09.Aug.19

“It’s no trouble at all,” he assured hier, kissing her cheek. L’gan glanced up at the sound of R’vi’s voice. Speaking of someone to stay with, he thought. He rolled his eyes with a smile at the good natured teasing. It amused him more than anything, and he was grateful for the offer given its effect on Sariel’s mood, which lightened instantly.

“Your ears must have been burning, Bluerider. I was just talking about finding a place to stay for tonight.” He was pleased to note that some of the tension was leaving Sariel’s body just as a result of the easy banter. “Would Vydoriath mind sharing his ledge with Semath? Particularly if I’m being used as a bed warmer.” He added with a smirk.

He supposed that Semath could also bunk in with Halomirth, or even Varralath. L’gan thought with amusement. Her crush on the blue hadn’t abated in the weeks since the Flight, though she feigned otherwise. Semath considered the suggestions a moment, then said no, she’d rather be available for Sariel. She liked the sometimes-mate of her rider, and wanted to help her be less upset.

RE: 740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - R'vi - 10.Aug.19

"Nah, my ears only burn when Spicy nibbles on them," he shot back, enjoying the banter with L'gan. He was really warming up to the greenrider and was even considering calling him a friend instead of just a lover or acquaintance. Though both L'gan and Sariel were definitely both still counted as lovers and not about to be friend-zoned.

"My bed is your bed, Healer. But do be warned, company sometimes drops by unannounced," R'vi grinned, eyebrow quirked to help drive home the sexy point he was making. But the facade quickly shifted into one of seriousness and even concern for Sariel as he looked between the two. "In all seriousness, you can definitely stay with me. Both of you if you don't want to be around the other Candidates for a bit." If they weren't out seeking their own comfort, R'vi suspected they'd all be talking about what they saw and not everyone needed that for their recovery.

He doubted she'd be able to hide forever, but perhaps for the rest of the day and maybe the night if Sariel wanted it and R'vi offered a hand to each of them to take. Vydoriath made a little ahem-ing noise in his head which made R'vi smile again at the reminder that he forgot an important question while he was flirting. "And Vydoriath would love to have Semath stay as well."

RE: 740.07.25 | Just a Little Slap, Really - Sariel - 10.Aug.19

R'vi had such cheek. It was one of many reasons she enjoyed spending time with him (and usually L'gan).

"Company is always welcome as long as they'll fit in the bed, " she said with a laugh and a wink. Bless them, they made her laugh, the pair of them and at such a needed moment. She dropped a kiss on R'vi's cheek with a step and lean before she brushed one on L'gan's and snuggled in. His warmth was settling, combating the searing coldness that had settled into her bones.

"It's incredibly generous of you and Vydoriath to offer," Sariel said warmly. "And I do appreciate it so much. Far more than you know. Well, your lovely lifemates might." There was a strength of conviction that went with the statement, an earnestness, that followed it up. She hoped the hatching would go better than the Touching but right now?

Right now, these two and their dragons were the best remedies she could have asked for.
