738.10.27 | First letter from dad - S'oll - 19.May.18

The candidate was laying on his bed hand over his face tough an irritated frown on his lips. He just flopped down onto it as soon as he gotten into the room. Drop the sealed envelope on the desk by his bead and flopped down. Hunter who had been startled by this had crawled onto the table to see what had the human so worked up. But he never seen an envelope before he simply stared at it before putting a corner in his mouth trying to chew at it. Though quickly let it go, it tasted bad. He called out to the man on the bed, pushing his hunger onto him and Siroll sighed, "Your going fat, I already fed you" he spoke as he slowly got out of bed looking over at the brown flit who looked weary unhappy with his idea of no more food right now. The brown would hiss in disapproval before he took off with a  few wing beats and landed on the bed curling up to sleep.

Siroll would stand and walk to the desk, picking up the letter and placing himself on the chair. His father seal in red on the back, unbroken. He sighs, it been two months since he left the hold. Two months eh herd nothing from his family, probably for the better. As his younger half-brother Resar, 3 in line, had wished to be searched but deemed incapable.  He had thrown a tantrum once then been behind closed doors. Carefully he opens it, pulling out the paper allowing his eyes to run over the carefully written words.

Siroll

I hope you have found your place among the other candidates and find the studies of a dragon rider pleasing. At least more then you did your lessons with my harper. I'm happy for you, the weyr is a great opportunity for you. A great way for you to make your mark, while I wish you could do it here in Kerron, you have to remember that a bastard would never be as accepted as a holder as your brothers. And finding another hold willing to take a bastard son for his daughter is harder than having a green clutch eggs.
Rember you are from Keroon hold and will act with respect to not push shame on your family or your hold. Your actions reflect back on us.
I wish you the best of luck in your further and with the impression of a dragon worthy of a holders son.

You father
Lord Lorser, Kroon Hold

The young man red the words over a few times, an irritated frown on his face. Two months of nothing and this is what he gets? Oh well, at least his younger pest of a brother hadn't been searched along with him. That would have been intolerable, his younger brother always so full of himself.

With a sigh he picks up a pen and pulls a piece of paper out, his hand quickly moving over the paper. Careful and well formed letters forming as the ink touches the paper. No use trying to ignore his father, he knew the holder well enough to know he expects a reply.

Dear father

The weyr have so far been great, and so are candidacy. I have yet to explore the full extent of the weyr. But hope to learn and see more of this mighty construction.

I have also recently impressed a brow Firelizard, whom I have named Hunter. Funny little creatures, but quite useful.

I wish you all the best
Candidate Siroll.

He laid down the pen and stood, he better go find someone to deliver the letter. It was short yes, but what more should he write? At least he wasn't short on marks, his father had allowed him to bring some with him. So sending the letter shouldn't be too much of a problem.
