735.04.21 | Bursting Bubbles - Z'ia - 24.Aug.14

Z’ia took a deep breath, closing his eyes and controlling a grimace as Plague came in chittering a warning in a tone that Z’ia found far too amused, of the woman approaching. A gentle outreaching found Aveleth off by the lake playing with Destiny and Chastity. Z’ia retreated from the link before his dragon was alerted to his poking around, and the little bluerider stood up tall from where he’d been doing the very mundane task of cleaning up his rooms – a rather spontaneous party with several other blueriders the night before had turned the area into a disaster zone.

With the window open and some fresh air flowing into the little set up, Z’ia had been looking forward to wash and something to eat – the sudden knowledge that Rhaedalyn was about to visit was not something that the little bluerider was swallowing very well. His thumb and forefinger pinched the bridge of his nose at the light tapping on his door that announced the girl’s arrival – at least she was too Rhaedalyn to actually stride right in. He wondered idly if she had ever wondered about his lack of inviting her to do so. The last thing he needed was her walking in while he had someone visiting in a capacity that would probably make her stupid little brain explode.

Running a hand back through his hair as he turned, Z’ia tugged the curls back and tied a leather around the tail before opening the door, a warm smile on his lips – he was surprised the girl hadn’t realised it didn’t reach his eyes yet; at least when they weren’t in public, anyway. Z’ia was always careful to put every bit of himself into his efforts when there were people who could see them, but he was growing bored with the game, and with the baggage the little gold whore was bringing along with her.

“Hello Rhae!” Z’ia leaned forward to kiss her lightly on the cheek, and then backed up slightly to take in her expression. Rhaedalyn was someone Z’ia had learned very early on could enter a state of euphoria simply by the sky being the right shade of blue or a butterfly passing within her sight or the sun coming up in the morning. As easily, he’d found her quite simple to crush; a frown could have the girl just about crying as she begged to know what was wrong. So, seeing the mixed emotions – almost completely overwhelmed by delight – on her face wasn’t as alarming as it probably should have been.

“I was just heading to lunch; do you want to join me?” Oh, for the love of his dragon, he hoped she said no! He really was not in the mood to parade around the main quarters, even with the majority of the dragonriders up North. The only outward evidence of his desire to see the back of Rhaedalyn moving far away from him was the nasty sneer on Plague’s face as she hissed at Rhaedalyn.

Rhaedalyn smiled sweetly at Z’ia after the kiss to his cheek. He was always so kind and polite with his greetings! She nearly swooned right then and there into his arms but held herself upright and gave a small shake of her head. “Maybe after but I wanted to talk to you in a private for a moment first, if you don’t mind?” She was suddenly worried. How did she break the news? What if Z’ia fainted from shock? She was certain he’d be excited, of course, but it wasn’t something they had talked about and it wouldn’t be expected. She knew she almost fainted from the surprise and joy!

There was also Plague, glaring at her like usual. It upset Rhaedalyn but she never said anything. She just wished she knew how to make the little green like her. Whisper wasn’t with her today as she had flittered off earlier to follow R’nya around for a while. Rumour and Muffin weren’t around either. They had decided to pester Rell and see if their fellow blue would come out and play with them again like he had the day R’nd had escorted her on a flower picking adventure. There was nothing to be done about it for now, she decided since Plague wasn’t hurting her and there were more important things to focus on first.

“I have wonderful news that I wanted to share with you first before everyone else finds out.” She was practically bouncing on the spot, her enthusiasm too much to contain any longer. Feeling emboldened from such emotions, Rhaedalyn took Z’ia’s hand in hers and slipped inside, pulling him along with her. Everyone would know soon but she wanted this to be a special moment, especially if she messed up on how to phrase it or if he did pass out from the surprise!

Re: Bursting Bubbles [Rhaedalyn] - Z'ia - 26.Aug.14

The right thing to do, of course, would have been to scold Plague – and usually, Z’ia attempted at doing so for appearances sake. Presently, however, he simply could not be bothered and as there was no one around to see, saw no reason to do so. Rhaedalyn would cope, or not, but he wasn’t of a mind to care one way or the other as the girl fluttered her lashes at him and asked for a private word. Maybe she was going to break off whatever they were currently classified as? Plague gave an amused chortle, and Z’ia tapped her nose with a finger as he shrugged one shoulder at Rhaedalyn.

Wonderful news was not a set of words that Z’ia wanted to hear, and the only reason Rhaedalyn didn’t see him grimace was because she was too busy leading him back into the small rooms. Wonderful news from Rhaedalyn could be as simple as the sun shining and no rain that day, but the look on her face and the way she was holding his hand warned that ‘wonderful news’ was not going to be his type of wonderful. Not in the slightest – and it took quite a bit of work on the little bluerider’s part to smooth his features into quirky anticipation as they reached the centre of the room. Taking the lead from there, Z’ia lead Rhaedalyn to the bed and sat on the edge of it, pulling the girl down to do so as well.

He was not at all sure standing would be a good idea, and Rhaedalyn was starting to look more and more insane by the moment. Plague gave a chitter, the emotional undertones clearly indicating that she’d been of the opinion that Rhaedalyn was insane since day one of meeting her, and how could she be more insane? Z’ia, not interested in attempting to actually have a conversation with the little green, opted to ignore her as he looked at Rhaedalyn with every appearance of delighted anticipation. “What news might that be?”

He really could not think of anything Rhaedalyn would find wonderful, that he would feel the same about – and he was actually trying.

Re: Bursting Bubbles [Rhaedalyn] - Rhaedalyn - 27.Aug.14

Long slow breaths were taken as Rhaedalyn sat on the edge of the bed with Z’ia. The nerves that kept coming and going were back again. She really should have asked her friends that had been pregnant before how they told their significant other and what the reaction was. She could only imagine the reactions were all positive and accepted since that was a part of a serious relationship and it was a major role for a woman to fill. How else would the population thrive and continue without such a thing?

In the end, she knew she was being silly and the only way to tell someone the news was to actually say the two words that conveyed everything so perfectly. There was no need to get flowery or over-think anything. It was a joyous moment and not one that had to torment either of them. They should be celebrating, not sitting in silence as Rhaedalyn tried to find her voice!

Z’ia’s hand was captured between her own and a deep breath was given before Rhaedalyn finally smiled. “I’m pregnant!” She announced excitedly and placed Z’ia’s hand on her barely showing belly. “We’re going to be parents, Z’ia. You’ll be a father.” She had no idea if he had children already since he never spoke of any but Rhaedalyn believed he didn’t. He was far too responsible to be like so many of the dragonriders and get women pregnant and never look back. Her confidence in the bluerider shone brightly as she waited for joy she felt to be returned.

“No.”

Z’ia stood up slowly, easily untangling himself from Rhaedalyn whom, he guessed, was too shocked by his statement to actually stop him from putting some space between them. The green of Z’ia’s eyes darkened, his expression artfully constructed to contain a look of heartbreak, though the horror that was littered across his features was not false, either. She was pregnant!? Some creatures should not reproduce and Z’ia was quite certain that Rhaedalyn was definitely one of those! That she was trying to peg it on him was just hilarious.

“Not possible,” Z’ia continued, shaking his head so that his dark curls bounced around his head and long lashes fluttered over his eyes, lips pursed into a line between each word. “I—“ Z’ia swallowed, apparently struggling for words as his hands wavered around in front of him in an expression of his discomfort. “I can’t—” he faltered to a halt again, shoving both hands into his hair with splayed fingers and pacing back and forth the length of the room. Plague screeched, flaring her wings and hissing at Rhaedalyn, confused by Z’ia’s mingling glee and horror. The little bluerider was taking great care to block Aveleth from his emotions – he could not afford the dragon to freak out on him out of nowhere – but he was less careful about manipulating what Plague was receiving; besides, she was right there with him.

Not possible!” he repeated, swirling around suddenly to point a finger directly at Rhaedalyn’s chest, a heavy scowl on his face and eyes swimming with tears that didn’t waste any time at all in tumbling down flushed cheeks on an otherwise bloodless face. How could she be so heartless?! “Out,” it came out a barely audible whisper, then, “Out!” a hoarse growl, and he flung one hand towards the door, letting enough of his emotions leak through to Aveleth that the dragon stopped playing and winked between to appear above the roof, landing with a scrabble of claws and making soft noises of distress.

Out,” Z’ia repeated, the word drowning in a sob.

Re: Bursting Bubbles [Rhaedalyn] - Rhaedalyn - 06.Sep.14

Z’ia was right; Rhaedalyn was in far too much shock from his denial and pulling away to actually stop him. She sat on his bed, lips slightly parted as she stared wordlessly at her dear bluerider. Everything was blurring around her and words were heard but didn’t connect with meaning. Nothing was happening like it was supposed to. She had no idea what that was supposed to be on the walk over to tell Z’ia but Rhaedalyn knew without a doubt that him being upset and denying everything wasn’t right.

Why did he keep saying it wasn’t possible? She knew she was definitely pregnant and a Healer confirmed it. She also knew what activities they got up to in bed so why would he say it wasn’t possible? Oh, what if he really couldn’t reproduce? That thought sent a shock through Rhaedalyn and panic started to set in. Why wouldn’t he have told her if that were the case, though? He knew how much she wanted to have a family and liked children. Besides, she was only ever with him as well.

Not entirely true, Aradissicath chimed in, pointing out she wasn’t egg-heavy on her own. Rhaedalyn frowned, mind far too scrambled to consider what that meant and decided it wasn’t possible, to quote her bluerider. She had been with R’nya that one time and with Z’ia so many more. Unless he really can’t be a father, dear. He may have been embarrassed to mention it before and didn’t think it’d be an issue yet.

“No,” Rhaedalyn whimpered and started to shake as so many of her dragon’s points started to make sense. It would be like Z’ia to try to protect her from such a horrible secret until a time they were ready to discuss options. Now, she was pregnant and surprising him like she had. No wonder he was so upset. Perhaps she could try to explain? “If it can’t be yo-” the sentence was cut off as Z’ia started demanding she leave. She could feel his pain as deeply as she felt her own. Whatever was going through his head would stay a mystery though as tears started to fall down her cheeks at the realization that she was being banished. Whether it would be for just the afternoon or forever, she had no idea, and in that moment, it didn’t matter.

Z’ia didn’t want her around and was upset that she was pregnant. Without another word, though there were a few sobs, Rhaedalyn was quickly out the door, a hand over her mouth to keep from sobbing in public.

Her perfect day was ruined. Z’ia was upset with her and now there simply wasn’t any way she could go to her friends to share what should have been joyous news. Instead, Rhaedalyn decided that the rest of the day would be spent in her room, away from the world. A slim chance that Z’ia would visit her later was clung onto even as she tried to make up reasons for turning away curious friends. How could she tell any of them what had happened? She still wasn’t sure herself.
