734.11.13 | The After Effects - Ameris - 29.Mar.14

Relaxed and languid, Ameris stretched her body with a sigh of pleasure. She squeaked with surprise when her outstretched arm made contact with another body. A slow grin filled her face as she remembered the flight and those that had come to give chase. There could be only one possibility of who the body next to her was, her mind refusing to allow the thought of anyone else winning Mizeath's maiden flight.

Her lips still curled with her smile she snuggled deeper into the body next to her with a smug word, "R'nya? Are you awake?" With the name spoken, Mizeath's deep amusement rattled her and Ameris couldn't figure out why the gold was so highly amused. She shifted to turn to the man that lay behind her and her eyes widen in shock and not a little dismay.

Color flooded her cheeks as she stared at N'kal with embarrassment quickly filling her gaze. Torath and not Xyreith had won Mizeath! She hadn't thought of anyone but Xyreith catching her gold, had never entertained the idea a single time since Mizeath had begun to mature. But he hadn't and instead Ameris lay in the arms of someone entirely unexpected.

The implications of calling him by another name widened her eyes even farther - if such a thing was possible - and she opened and closed her mouth. She had called him R'nya! Oh sweet Faranth what would he do to that?! Why hadn't Mizeath corrected her before she had made the mistake?

You did not ask, Ameris, who had won the flight. You only assumed, the gold responded, equally amused and chastising, from where she lay askew beside Torath. "I..." She started, flushed and hot, "I'm so sorry!" And she was. She couldn't believe shed made such a colossal mistake and one she hoped could easily been fixed.

Re: The After Effects [N'kal] - N'kal - 04.Apr.14

He was warm, comfortable, and content. He loved to wake up in such a state, regardless of the fact, that in the back of his mind he knew without a doubt, he was in the wrong bed. He was in the wrong place, with the wrong person, and he was going to be in so much trouble for it later. However the woman beside him was sweet and gentle enough that it didn't bother him enough to make a fuss over it. Dragons flew, and were caught, it was part of weyr life. He and no special attachment to Kahleena, though she and her dragon were a constant in his life as of late. He still knew there would be something said eventually, oh well. Warm and comfortable was all he cared about right then.

Torath was snoozing happily beside Mizeath and was happy his rider was happy and content. A yawn escaped his mouth and he was just about to will himself back to sleep until the woman beside him snuggled closer to him. He smiled for a fraction of a moment, then the woman spoke. Dark eyes popped open without his really meaning them too, then instantly narrowed in a glare that was so harsh it nearly caused him pain. He had woken beside many men and women over the Turns and have been called a colorful array if things, this however was new. He had never been called by someone else's name with such surety.

A sound somewhere between a grunt and a growl rumbled in his throat. "Awake yes. R'nya?...not even close.", he snapped gruffly at the dark haired woman snuggled up beside him. He didn't know exactly why it bothered him, he shouldn't care. She was just another goldrider, caught by a bronze dragon and rider. Shit happened all the time, he had rarely been one to care about others, but this woman, Ameris, was a friend, or he had thought. They got along well and he liked her son, as did Torath. So why was he angry that she had called her R'nya? Because she damn well had, that was why.

What is wrong?, Torath's sleepy, smooth voice went through his mind. He could not understand why his rider was so unhappy when they were obviously once again, the best pair in the wyer. He had caught the feisty Mizeath though the flight had been long and exhausting, it made the bronze that much more proud of her, and of himself for catching her. Nothing. Go back to sleep., he told Torath grumpily. There was no need to sour his dragon's mood, when he had done nothing wrong. Well..he could have kept his happy hide on the damn ground...other than that, he wasn't at fault for women being women. Torath rumbled but despite the fact he knew his rider was upset, he left him alone and nuzzled Mizeath gently. Humans are ridiculous at times.., he said to Mizeath before settling down again.

Inside, N'kal's sour mood was not to be appeased and as such shoved himself away from Ameris and rolled off the bed. He stretched his shoulders and back, his body popping and cracking as it often did. He ignored Ameris' stuttered apology, his pride wounded as it was, would not allow him to accept her apology. He scanned the room and found his pants, and tugged them on, tying them off before seeming to search for something else. Had he been fully clothed? He couldn't remember, shard it all. This wasn't his room and therefore he had no idea where anything was, but after a couple scans he found a pot of klah on a table. He was angry, but not rude enough to take something and not offer her any. He poured two cups of the stale brew, downed half of his on his way to handing her the other with a grunt. Basically a take it or I will drop it move, but he was in a foul mood, the stale klah was NOT helping that anyway.

Her face blazed an even hotter red as N'kal answered her question. So stupid. She couldn't believe she hadn't thought to ask Mizeath who had won her flight. Her mind still reeled, if truth were told, by the flight and the fact that Xyreith had not won. She thought Mizeath liked Xyreith, I do , so had nievely thought that would have an effect on the flight's ending. She should have known better. Remembered that it was not always preference that won a flight. Torath had obviously been trickier than Xyreith had for him to catch Mizeath. Ameris couldn't remember much from during the flight, only the lust blowing hotly through her body.

She cringed when N'kal shrugged of her apology to rise stiffly from the bed. She winced at the snaps and cracks his body made and was reminded that he had been a rider far longer than she had, done more things and lived far more than she ever could. She closed her eyes to try and gather herself for a storm she had know idea if it would come or not. What would he do? For the first time since she'd uttered the words she was thankful that it had been N'kal and not some other bronzerider she'd said it to. Who knows what another would have done.

Mhmmm, Mizeath replied as she pressed her long body against Torath's side, But they have their entertaining moments. While the gold was not normally so amused by her rider's discontent there was just something about this situation that she found funny. Mizeath liked Xyreith, a lot in fact, but at this moment it really didn't matter. She had flown and the one who was meant to catch her caught her. What was so difficult for Ameris to grasp?

"Thank you," Ameris told him as he handed her a cup of klah with a grunt. She grimaced at the taste of the bitter brew and thought to call someone with a fresh pot. She didn't though, knowing she needed this time alone with the surly N'kal. "I really am sorry... I just thought with everything that..." She said as she trailed off. She didn't know if she could finish that sentence yet, the ending almost to much for her to handle. She would let N'kal take it as he wished.

Re: The After Effects [N'kal] - N'kal - 20.Apr.14

Dark eyes watched the young woman who sat in the bed, flame faced and apologetic. He supposed he could just brush it off, he was too damn old for having a bruised ego, but he was far too annoyed by her assumption. She was young yet though, he knew it was only her first flight, but even still, he would have thought she knew the ways of a weyr well enough by now, to never assume someone's dragon would be the winner of a flight. Maybe it was the thought that the girl assumed no one else would have been good enough to catch her dragon that irked him. You think far too much N'kal., Torath rumbled at him before gently rubbing his head against the gold beside him. Torath was confused by his rider's odd mood with Mizeath's rider. He liked the woman, so he did not see what the issue was. They are that indeed., he said slowly to Mizeath.

Perhaps..., was all the older rider said as he watched Ameris take the offered klah. He was still frowning, he could feel the tightness in his face, the clench of his jaw. He went out of his way to always be kinder, gentler with women, knew he should be far more tactful in this case, but he wasn't. It would likely bother him at a later time, being so dismissive of Ameris' apology, but right then he didn't really care much.. He grunted and turned away from her when she thanked him after taking the klah.

He made a sound when she started speaking again, to try and explain. He turned a bit and let his eyes rest on her face. "Would you like me to have Torath speak with Xyreith? He can send R'nya over, since he is much more to your liking.", he said coldly then turned and looked about the room, his gaze falling on a fallen piece of clothing. He snatched it up off the floor, seeing it wasn't his, he tossed it to the bed beside Ameris, assuming it was hers, then continued to look around. Eventually he found his own shirt and snatched it off the floor as well, draping it over his left shoulder.
