An Attempted Creche Escape! [Open] - Zelina - 21.Nov.13

It was true, Zelina loved the younger children, but today, she had plans of her own. She was old enough now, after all, and she simply couldn't wait any longer. She just had to get permission to stand on the hatching sands for the next clutch, and she had to get that permission now. It simply would not do to wait. Her parents, however had dropped her off here, to go about with whatever it was they did when she was normally here. Zelina didn't ask what those things might be, as normally she was content to be here.

Her eyes darted around, trying to determine weather or not she was actually being watched by anyone, and to her dismay, more than one of the other children were indeed watching her, and she couldn't be sure that the adult wasn't watching either. Zelina hadn't bothered even trying to mentally pronounce the name of the person watching the children today, it was as much a brain-twist as it was a tongue twist to her, though, maybe she was remembering the wrong name for the face. She sometimes did that. She eyed the door longingly.

If only I could just get out of here. she thought to herself. She was almost certain that it was B'jin that was the person she needed to talk to. He was the Weyrling Master, after all. She practically bounced now in her impatience, not even realizing her own actions. Or the fact that they might draw attention to her mental state of unrest. Even with her bouncing and impatience, there was an absent smile playing at her lips, as often she smiled for no real reason.

She looked about, wondering if perhaps somehow she would be lucky enough for some sort of distraction to everyone else that she might slip out. She didn't dare hope that B'jin would actually come to her. That kind of good luck was only in tales told at bedtime to children younger than her. Yet, perhaps she could hope.

She sat down, right where she was, and continued her surveillance of everyone, just itching for her chance. She wouldn't be able to leave until one of her parents came to get her, if she didn't manage to slip out unnoticed, and her parents probably wouldn't be back in forever from now, of so that was how she was thinking it would be. Even the temptation of the babies wasn't enough to pull her from her determination to get out of the place and go in search of the Weyrling Master. Not that she really knew where to look. She huffed out a breath of air in her frustration, and then laid back, and stared at the ceiling, almost to the point of accepting defeat.

Re: An Attempted Creche Escape! [Open] - Ravana - 30.Dec.13

Ravana was very seldom seen in the creche these days.  With her taking over Berani's care on her own, she tended to have other places to be simply and since she couldn't carry a tune in a wheelbarrow with someone holding up the other end of it, she was seldom called upon to teach.

She'd swapped chores with someone this day though, and was headed home after a long shift of taking care of kids.  She liked them fine enough.  They weren't her Berani though, and she wanted nothing better than to see her daughter, snuggle her flitter and eat, then sleep a short bit.

It wasn't to be though.  Sighing as she saw Zelina, she spoke softly.  "Can you wait to make your escape until after I'm off duty, by chance?"  She softened her words with a smile.  "Or I could volunteer you for a chore, help get you out of here, if you like."  She didn't know why she was offering, why she'd cared, but for a second the child had made her think of Berani and T'ken.

Stubborn flew over as Ravana leaned on the doorway, eyes looking over Zelina.  "You aren't usually one of the escape artists...there a reason you're eyeing the door so much today?"  The gold flitter circled the child then, chirping curiously, landing on her shoulder to nuzzle and request a petting.

Re: An Attempted Creche Escape! [Open] - Zelina - 30.Dec.13

Zelina looked to the woman that had spoken to her, and then, dismayed by the upside-down vantage point, she sat up and turned around. A chore seemed an enticing idea, if it would be a chore that brought her to B’jin. As she was considering this, she was asked why she was so intent on escaping, and Zelina grinned a true grin before she spoke.

“It’s a secret.” She said, and motioned for the lady to come closer so she could whisper it to her. She didn’t want all the commotion it would cause if she said it out loud, and besides, she was probably the only girl that thought it was a good idea to ask to stand for a blue. It definably wasn’t considered good for a girl to ride even a green, like her mother did. A blue would surely cause a lot of ruckus, yet, Zelina felt in her heart that this is what she should do, that even if she asked to stand for a gold that surely a blue would choose her. Even Chresaith seemed to agree, to her father’s dismay, and her mother’s worry. Not that they didn’t show Zelina support, though. Zelina was simply smart enough to read the worried looks exchanged when they thought she wasn’t looking.

As she waited for the lady to move closer, Zelina was surprised to have a little gold land on her shoulder, and was happy to administer the petting the little flit asked for. Zelina liked the little thing enough, but her mind was on her mission. The petting was more of a action not really thought out, though her fingers went right for the little gold’s eye ridges, as if she might be a dragon and actually like being petted there. Zelina didn’t really know if she did or didn’t, it just seemed right since she looked like a miniature, less intelligent dragon. A smile came to her face once again, as she imagined herself scratching the eye ridges of a freshly hatched blue that had chosen her, only to quickly toss her daydream aside, as she did need to see if the lady was going to help her.

Re: An Attempted Creche Escape! [Open] - Ravana - 18.Jan.14

The weyrbrat sat up and turned around, Ravana easing back a step to give her a bit of room.  Shanith poked her nose into the rider's mind, curious why Ravana was delaying going home to her nightly mug of tea and her own daughter.  Ravana hesitated, but Zelina wasn't by nature a practical joker.  She came close enough to be whispered to.

Stubborn crooned as she was petted, nudging the girl's fingers and then positioning her head jsut right for scritches to her eye ridges, chittering up a happy storm.  She sent happy images to Ravana, drawing a worn smile from her bonded.

Ravana hmmed to herself.  "So what's up Zelina?"  She ran hands through her hair, keeping her tone gentle, patient.  She wanted to go home! Warm, quiet home...where things were quiet and calm and oh yes, quiet.  She kept all traces of that from her demeanor.

Shanith snorted her amusement in her mind.  You'll be home soon.  A few more minutes won't kill you.  A child squealed happily and the greenrider nearly winced. Her head hurt, as always these days and the noise of the creche wasn't helping.  She wanted to go home.  Say that again and I'll let her escape by announcing that you've a desire to be painted entirely pink with neon green spangles and purple polkadots.

There was silent horror from her green, and Ravana turned her attention to Zelina again.  "I'm sorry, Shanith butted in.  Can you repeat yourself?"  Her tone was gentle, Ravana kneeling to put them on the same level so she wouldn't have to literally look down on the girl.
