734.01.02 | So it wasn't a dream [Solo] - Ameris - 13.Jul.13

She woke from the fading remnants of a nightmare snugged between two very warm bodies. That was odd. She didn't usually have two bodies in her bed come daylight. One yes. Two no. Her eyes opened and she stared at the roof above her head. A gentle buzz and snore come from either side of her. To the left was a dark haired little urchin curled against her side, baby soft hair tickling her arm. Rislan. She gave a slight sigh of relief before gazing to her right. Her eyes widened as she caught sight of the gold hide that was curled against her right side. She'd impressed. Not only had she impressed but she had impressed gold. Mizeath.

Careful not to rouse Rislan, Ameris turned to her side and smiled gently when she felt her son snuggle deeper against her, baby snores echoing in the quiet of the room. With a gentle shaking finger she traced the eye ridges she found. She counted the talons and marveled at the incredibly long and dexterous fingers she found on the paws. She closed her eyes and waited a beat before opening them again, certain she was dreaming. Certain when they opened the image of Mizeath would be gone.

I am not going anywhere, Ameris. I was here last night, I am here this morning, and I will be here always, the gold's melodic voice said to her. "I just... I'm afraid it was all a dream, Mizeath. That I'll wake and you won't be there," she said quietly. A quiet rumbled, a gently nuzzle and she had her reassurance, tears pricked her eyes. I will not be going any where, the young gold replied.

It amazed her and terrified her that Mizeath had chosen her. She was still so broken. Still unable to be the social creature that a gold dragon would require of her. She was uncertain whether she could do the things that she would have to do, have to be. You do not have to do what you do not wish, came the gentle reply. Mizeath just didn't understand. She was much to unbiased, much to young to understand the way things were and Ameris didn't want the young gold to ever have to find out.

A loud grumble and squeal suddenly sounded and Ameris laughed out loud. She tried to muffle the snort as Rislan shifted and muttered under his breath. It really is not funny, Mizeath said, tone regal and dignified. Oh her proper little miss! "Come on sweeting. We'll wake Rislan and then find someone to fill your belly," she said as she got up to dress. Turning she woke the grumpy and muttering toddler. And with their usual dance Ameris finally dressed the tired youngster and got him moving. With a caress along Mizeath's neck, Ameris led the way out of the room and into the hall.
