Bumps and Scrapes - Jazira - 10.Dec.12

Jazz sat her little red faced child on the bed, taking out medical supplies and carefully worked on her little baby's injuries. It had seemed that the first few steps were the most damaging to the little blonde haired child. It defiantly seemed the young child has his mother's curse of being accident prone. A maternal smile, soft with affection and understanding, she carefully cleaned his injuries and smeared on numbing salve to ease the pain. For the moment, she would not remove the tourniquet stemming the blood flow from her child's leg. Poor little mite had fallen over a sharp rock and tore a large gash in his leg. Carefully mixing a small amount of fellis into the juice for her son, she waited a little bit for the child to drift into a soft slumber. She held him close as he whined in complaint about being tired. Her soft humming however settled the child into a relaxed slumber.

Picking up a clean and disinfected needle and thread, she checked over the injury to ensure it was clean before she carefully stitched the injury close.

Re: Bumps and Scrapes - T'lian - 10.Dec.12

It had been a strange couple days for Talian. He was used to be included in all the most pressing cases, especially in cases including actual physical trauma, but this time he wasn't even allowed in the left wing of the hall! D'ren was being watched over by the rest of the staff, an while Talian himself wasn't allowed in, that hadn't stopped the others from constantly coming to him with questions and seeking advice.

It was almost like he was working on the case, and he certainly felt needed and wanted. But he could only be so much help without actually seeing the patient. The whole thing made Talian uncomfortable rather than being relaxing like it should have been. He was expecting bad news any day, but the Weyrleader had already survived longer than expected.

Of course, being disallowed near D'ren meant that Talian had almost nothing else to do. He'd taken a couple days off, which he'd devoted to further training Fellis and daydreaming about Valerian. He was too twitchy to stay away from healing for long, though. Now that he was back, he'd picked up extra shifts (like he always did) and worked himself like a zombie for a couple days. It was a vicious cycle.

Today was, in theory, another day off. He frowned a bit as he passed the examination room, pausing to glance inside. "Jazira?" He didn't know her well, but he did know of her. He often covered her position for her while she was pregnant and on maternity leave. He raised a brow. "Is he all right?" he asked, eyeing the child.

Nimble fingers carefully pulled the bandages around her son's calf with the firm delicacy of a well trained healer. She breathed out slowly and softly before grabbing a blanket and carefulyl wrapping her son up in it as she heard the door, looking over her shoulder, she blinked. Talian... she had thought him on leave after the whole situation with the Weyrleader. Plus she had a small amount of guilt of leaving him to tend with her night and morning shifts. But shards, Jazzpur came first.

"Hello Talian. Yea, he'll be fine." she answered, her arms cradling the currently limp body in her arms "He's just started walking and misjudged some rocks. Fell over and cut his left calf open." She added on, figuring he would have some professional curiousity over the injury. "Seems he's got my clumsy streak." she gave a weak chuckle as soft high pitch whine started as her son started to wake. Little fists grabbed onto the blanket wrapped around and that soothed him somewhat as he slowly woke up. Baby blue eyes staring out across the room, his little face all twisted with confusion.

Talian nodded slowly. Well, of course children were clumsy! It was good to her patching him up well, though. Talian had developed a tendency to be highly critical of others work, something he;d never done at home no matter how often he was reminded of his superiority. It came with improved confidence, he supposed. He raised a brow, tearing his eyes away from the scene and idly stepped inside to slouch against the door.

Fellis' head emerged from the front of Talian's shirt. The little blue creeled, nervous at the sight of the other people in the room. Talian placed one hand on top of the little fire lizard to comfort him. "Calm down, little friend," he purred softly before looking to Jazira again.

Jazira was right about Talian's professional curiosity. He took a step closer, glancing at the child's wound and nodding slowly. It looked like it had been neatly taken care of. Nasty accident! "I'm glad he's all right," Talian said lightly. He'd never been good at small talk, but it seemed appropriate.

"How has he been?" Talian asked, referring of course to the child's health. He wasn't sure what else to ask about, since he didn't know Jazira particularly well.

sitting down on a nearby chair, she settled her son in her lap, letting him rest against her as he slowly worked his way out of the sleepy fog caused by fellis. Resting her chin on Jazzpur's head, she just smiled contently, treating both herself and Talian. She felt oddly comfortable at the moment. Probably because she had had chance to recover from the near heart attack of seeing her son bleeding heavily.

"He's been okay. Teething is a nightmare. He really suffers through it. How have things been for you? I don't believe we have much chance to really speak." she spoke softly, pressing her lips to her son's forehead as he turned and buried his face into her chest to avoid meeting Talian's eye. Who was this strange man looking at his ouchie and talking to HIS mummy?!

Re: Bumps and Scrapes - T'lian - 10.Dec.12

Fellis peeped, burying his snout into Talian's chest as the weird tiny human looked back at them. Tal kept stroking the creature with one thin hand, focusing his thoughts on reassuring the little beast. It was amazing the difference that keeping himself calm could have on his little friend!

"Unwell," Talian replied to the question, his voice light and gentle in spite of the dour undertones. He shook his head slowly. How could he be anything but unwell? He'd been accused, albeit informally, of murdering the man he'd saved only hours before such an accusation appeared! It irritated Talian, it insulted him, and initially it had frightened him as well. As days went on and no one approached him to arrest or murder him, though, he gradually became less frightened and more frustrated.

He wasn't there to defend himself, though. He just frowned slowly and instead chose to retain his quiet dignity regarding the situation. "But not so unwell that I don't survive."

He slowly looked towards the window. He'd heard a rumor that earlier, D'ren had woken from his drugged state long enough to groan that Ronarth was in pain. A passing glance revealed that no one had yet treated the dragon's wounds. He'd been cleaned up a bit the first day, but his hide remained openly torn. Talian wasn't allowed to deal with it, but as much as he disliked the Weyrleader, he hated to see that. Talian was no longer content to see a dragon in pain since meeting his little friend Fellis.

Jazz listened quietly, her lips pressed into a thin line. She had heard the rumours and he's answer of unwell struck her as a major understatement. With a brief moment's pause, she met his gaze.

"I don't think you would do such a thing. You're a healer, like me, we took an oath to heal and ease pain, not create it." She stated with all the self confidence she had held up from her first days albeit it had reduced a little since having Jazzpur, but she could hardly get into the same scraps as before.

"ba?" A little voice from her chest as he peered at Talian, his baby blues staring at Talian in all the innocence of a child. "Ba ba!" He waved a hand, nearly smacking into Jazz's jaw in his childish excitement.

"Looks like Jazzpur likes you." She stated softly, something was bothering him. "Do you want cover any shifts for you? Considering..." she trailed off, rubbing the back of her neck in an awkward guilt.

Re: Bumps and Scrapes - T'lian - 10.Dec.12

"It makes no sense," Talian said with grim irony. "If I'd wanted to kill him, it would have been easy to kill him while working on him after his collapse. It would have been easy to stop his heart without looking suspicious." He rolled his eyes, as if the truth was so painfully obvious that he shouldn't have had to say it - not that he thought he had to say it to another healer, but it was hardly the first time he'd made that point to someone!

He lifted his brow at the child. Talian had almost no experience with children and had hardly ever been one himself, so he had no idea what to make of the kid's odd noises and awkward gestures. "Likes me?" he asked. He didn't see it.

Fellis cheeped apprehensively and disappeared down the front of Talian's shirt again. He paused and exhaled, maintaining his patience as best he could, and proceeded to fish the little blue out. Fellis wrapped nervously around Tal's hand for a few long moments before tentatively creeping onto his shoulder. The strangers were scary, but Fellis was determined to do as he must to make Daddy happy!

Tal was pleased. "Good boy," he said, scratching the fire lizard's head before eyeing Jazira again. "...And no, but thank you. I'm off today, and aside from work, I have little to keep my mind off of things." His gaze shifted to Jazzpur. "It seems to me like you still have plenty to keep you occupied, though." He wondered idly who the father was, but he didn't ask.

[[ooc: sorry its late! Work has been ridiculous]]

Jazz nodded, she knew he wasn't malicious, it was just understanding on both ends. Why kill someone, healers took an oath to make people better or ease their suffering, not to end lives. Plus she had heard how hard Talian had fought to save D'ren even if she could understand his resentment. If anything, Jazz both shared it and didn't. She liked the Weyr in some respects and hated it with a passion in others.

Jazzpur however, took no notice of the atmosphere and gurgled in delight when Talian responded to him. His chubby hands reaching out towards him, fingers moving in a grabbing motion before he threw himself forward, only just being caught by Jazz as he latched onto Talian's hands and stared at them with the all childish curiosity.

"Sorry, he has a thing for hands." Jazz spoke softly, flushing faintly as her son attempted to devour the fingers of the poor masterhealer.  Jazzpur's mouth opened again and he attempted to chow down on Talian's finger before jazz carefully removed Jazzpur's grip and let him bite on her fingers. Wincing when he bit down a little too hard.

"You would not believe." she managed a chuckle between wincing. "Clingy little bugger as well. Won't sleep unless I'm next to him, but he's getting better. i could defiantly do without the biting though." she laughed softly, hissing as Jazzpur gave a churlish growl and bit down hard.

"ow jazzpur." she scowled, her voice soft but full of the maternal reprimand. "Not so hard. You'll get an owie again." she stated in her healer voice, eying him with a little grin.

"I heard from some of the girls that owing a firelizard is similiar. both take a lot of time and effort." she said as a questioning statement
