Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

[[Update slowly in progress because ThistleProse is a slackarse :3 lmao ]]

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 03, 740 AL

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are getting a lot of rain, thunderstorms, and cloudy days. Grass is growing, flowers flowering, and baby animals popping up all over the place! Yay spring!

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

Posted by: Madiquel - Yesterday, 07:38 AM - Forum: Ista Weyr - No Replies

Madiquel had refused to socialise ever since A’tay had told her how Quinvalis had been injured. She’d been sending Clover to her home Weyr daily, seeking updates and sending her own to her friend with tidbits about what she’d been up to in class, and how desperately she wished she was there and able to help. Madiquel loved Zezeth more than she could ever put into words, but she felt so trapped on the Istan Island, with her dragon who was growing, but was still too small for riding. They’d finally passed their fifth-month-birthday, and Zezeth was seriously outgrowing her brothers, which was… confusing. Madiquel was somewhat worried, and she knew she wasn’t alone. All of Zezeth’s effort appeared to going into growing bigger, the dragon was still little more than skin and bones and a glossy green hide that Madiquel kept drenched in oil. Her dragon had recovered well from the dislocation of her left hip, but it had done the damage to the way everyone treated her. Zezeth hated the way her siblings and the humans who spent time around her were cautious, like they were constantly waiting for her to pop another joint.

A flicker of a smile danced over Madiquel’s face when she felt Zezeth touch on her mind, letting her know that the boys – dragons and riders – had gone to bed, and the coast was clear. Madiquel hadn’t meant to isolate herself so thoroughly, and was kind of embarrassed about the scene she’d managed to make. She was angry with herself, for not being able to be there to help Quinvalis or simply to support him. She had been upset when A’tay had brought her the news, and while she’d burst into tears and fled from him after he’d finished speaking, refusing to talk to him or any of her friends, she hadn’t been angry at him in any way. It wasn’t A’tay’s fault he was the bearer of bad news! But after the first two days, Madiquel still hadn’t been ready to see her friends, and had taken to sneaking around. Today, she was sneaking because she was embarrassed to face them. She’d been awfully dramatic and childish and she was quite ashamed of herself and not sure how to go back to normal. She was afraid of questions.

Slipping into the weyr where the dragonets slept, Madiquel joined Zezeth. She glanced at the two blues, but they were either genuinely asleep, or were humouring herself and Zezeth and pretending to be asleep. Madiquel smiled fondly at them, and then scrambled onto Zezeth’s back, settling herself at the base of the dragonet’s neck and wriggling to make herself comfortable. Zezeth was very skinny, and quite uncomfortable, but they both enjoyed the contact and the way the pony ride felt so natural as the young dragon slipped out into the night air, spreading her wings and flapping them slowly; she wasn’t trying to take off, but exercising the joints and muscles, and getting them both used to the way the motion felt.

Technically, while fifth-month lessons included the grounded rides, the Weyrlingmaster had insisted that none of the dragonets were ready. Dyoricath and Erebuth were both still very small, though Madiquel had overheard some of the others talking about how they weren’t that much smaller than the Old dragons, the ones before the Plague, and Madiquel had ended up seeking out Casa to query about it. Everyone knew that Thallyath was tiny compared to the other Katilan gold dragons, but discussion with her rider had brought Madiquel up to date on a lot of information and from there, it really hadn’t taken much effort on Zezeth’s part to get Madiquel atop her.

The after-dark though, that was because Madiquel wasn’t interested in causing a scene. She didn’t want to upset the boys, she didn’t want to get scolded by her Papa or her Weyrlingmaster or anyone else. Neither she nor Zezeth did. But Madiquel was careful! She had checked Zezeth over so thoroughly before their first riding session that the green had become exasperated with her. But Madiquel had made her do all kinds of things, until she was confident that the dragonet wouldn’t collapse under her into a pile of green bones.

None of that was in Madiquel’s mind, though, as she sat atop Zezeth with her head thrown back, staring up at the ceiling of stars in the darkness of the sky. Madiquel hated the dark, and with the stars as the only light, it was very dark around her. But she felt safe and secure with Zezeth, so long as she didn’t think too deeply about how alone they were, how far they were from everyone and everything, and how dark it was… Company, Zezeth said softly, and Madiquel startled, blinking and lowering her face so she could stare with huge eyes into the darkness in the direction she knew her dragonet was looking. Zezeth didn’t sound stressed, but Madiquel still shifted anxiously and chewed on her bottom lip.

“Who?” She whispered softly, as Zezeth meandered confidently towards the other dragon. It took them almost until they were atop one another for Madiquel to realise that the shadowy shape was Xyxyth, with A’tay. “Um, hi,” Madiquel said weakly, wondering if A’tay and Xyxyth would scold her and Zezeth for their late night wandering. She could feel Zezeth’s amusement as she folded her wings away and stood placidly, peering up at the other dragon with a soft croon.

Kor'is.

Out of all of the names he and his dragon had bickered over, it was still the best one, though it was going to take some getting used to. He was used to Kordiavis or even Kordi but Kor'is? He'd get there, he didn't really have a choice. At least it wasn't K'di--which actually had been his original thought when it came to his honorific but he just wasn't feeling it anymore.

I liked it! But Kor'is is nicer. Taith exclaimed with his head still in the bucket of food.

Kor'is gave a noise of acknowledgement but didn't add to it since he already knew the dragon's stance on the choices. Anyway, he had a feeling his closest friends would still call him Kordi anyway so it wasn't like he was losing a piece of himself because of the pudge-master he was currently brushing sand and other gross things off of. He really didn't want to think about what he was cleaning off of the dragon so his name was a good place to focus.

That also meant he wasn't thinking about the fact that he had actually Impressed or how his mother would take the news or how one day he could end up batshit insane like her. He also wasn't thinking about how mere hours ago he saw Tazikel in the stands and that left him confused about how much interest he had in the lordling, especially after a kiss that had seemed like a very good idea at the time. It was a good thing he wasn't thinking about that since he was now celibate for the next several months.

What's 'celibate' mean? Taith had finished scarfing down his food and was now looking at Kor'is which made the man's stomach turn. He quickly took the cloth to the dragon's face to wipe away breakfast.

"It means I won't have time to be close to anyone because all of my time and attention will be spent on you." Not that he had many people he was close to or close to anyway but Kor'is preferred having that choice left in his own hands and not dictated by a dragon's needs.

When the earthquake started, he really didn't notice. The back of his mind pointed out that people were a lot louder than usual but Kor'is was busy washing a pale blue hide while lost in thought. It was only when Taith's excitement reached a new octave that Kor'is snapped back to attention and noticed the commotion. "How about we not get that loud right now?"

But the earth is shaking and a boy is injured! Kor'is frowned and stood up to see what was going on and oh shit, yeah, that was definitely an injured kid over there. And he thought Taith's muzzle was a bloody mess after feeding. Kor'is looked away before he saw anything in too much detail. If that kid resembled the dragon's food in any way, he'd never be able to look in a bucket again.

He sat back down after everything calmed down again and went back to caring for Taith and calling for another bucket as he felt his stomach rumble with needs that weren't his own. "Seriously? Maybe we shouldn't be going for seconds, kiddo."

By the time the Hatching ended, Kor'is was fine with his name and still happily ignoring everything else that was affected in his life by the change in status. He also had a fed and oiled hatchling that was trying not to snooze in his lap because Kor'is was being stubborn and refusing to head out yet. He had wanted to see if Mylorah Impressed and when she didn't, he knew she'd come rushing over to see him. She would probably congratulate him but he was still on the fence if that was the right word or if condolences were in order.

He should have known she'd bring Tazikel along, though.

Fuck.

Just go watch a bunch of dragon eggs hatch and cheer on a friend, that was all she had to do. Just one trip on the back of T'ryn's dragon, then sitting in the stands for a bit to watch some dragon babies stumble around and pick their person, cheer if Katiryn made a new gold friend, and then go home and get back to work. Maybe take Sprink for a ride if she had time in the afternoon before it got dark.

Now she was shoving meat things into a tubby little gold screech beast's hungry maw. But the screech beast was happy and that somehow made Cazan feel happy, even though she was a great deal distressed at the same time. Someone had said something about getting her moved into the weyrling barracks soon? She would be staying here until she graduated? There were strangers congratulating her on occasion too all because of the jiggly gold dragon that had somehow spotted her and picked her out.

Why? She still wasn't sure and in response the little dragon happily chirped, Because you're mine! Cazan sighed as she absently patted her dragon and looked up at T'ryn who hadn't abandoned her to the chaos yet. "I don't know what to do about my things. Someone should tell my brother... I guess someone should tell my parents. Sprink! Someone needs to care for Sprinkles! Can... can they bring her here? Can I go there? Surely I can just do a quick trip-"

No! Malvayth interrupted with a whine, nudging her head underneath Cazan's hand to force her rider to pet her more. I want to go too! The little gold dragon turned her attention to T'ryn, eyes flashing with happiness. Cazan likes you and the fun mouth games and I like you too! We should play games!

What... games? Oh no. Cazan's face turned bright red. "No, not right now. Maybe some other time maybe we'll come up with games to play with you too okay?" The round little gold made a pleased little mewling sound in response. What had she gotten herself into?

Posted by: Mylorah - 15.Jan.20, 01:39 PM - Forum: Ista Weyr - Replies (1)

Mylorah knew Sh’ran would be dying for all the details of the Hatching even though she suspected he and B’kit would have been getting updates from someone via a firelizard’s images or notes. She was dying to tell them both about all of the drama that happened but she also didn’t want to miss out on the celebrations. Several friends had Impressed and she wanted to enjoy some more time with them before heading home. But she did head home the following morning and after dumping her bag off in her room, she headed out to find the boys.

She knew they were alone having breakfast thanks to A’tay’s assistance. He had been the one to tell Madiquel about her friend Quinvalis being mauled and she’d apparently refused to come out of her room still. Her heart broke for the girl and would try to see her later that day as a shoulder to cry on while giving her hugs if she’d even be allowed in. It sounded like even A’tay was having issues getting in at the moment.

She found them both relaxing outside with what looked like sleepy dragons—a relief when it came to Dyoricath. Not wanting to wake up that noise maker, Mylorah gave only a wave and a big smile as she approached instead of her usual call of ‘Mimi!’ or ‘Hummingbird!’ That didn’t stop her from giving massive hugs to both boys and she settled in between them, resting her head on B’kit’s shoulder and gave a content smile. “I missed you both. I’m kind of glad I didn’t Impress since that means I could come back to you.”

Straightening again, Mylorah flashed Sh’ran a wicked grin before looking utterly angelic as she teased, “even though I’m dying to give you all the juicy details about my end of turn celebrations, I bet you’re currently far more invested in what happened at the Hatching and I guess I can share.”

Cazan was sitting on the floor, surrounded by (mostly) children, fighting the urge to nap with the great fat beast of a gold that was snoozing heavily on her lap as she listened to the lecture. It had been a sleepy joke at first when she suggested she go sit in on the most basic of classes, but people were far more receptive to the idea than she thought, and so here she was. She'd already learned a few things, she knew golds were a big deal and so were bronzes, but she hadn't been aware that the other colors fell into a tidy sort of hierarchy based off color and size as well. And now the class was getting ready to do a hands on demonstration helping her oil the enormously round lump that was making her legs fall asleep.

She gave the sleepy dragon the tiniest nudge, fingers gently scratching along the little baby's eye ridges in a way that Cazan somehow just knew Malvayth liked. She was still trying to get used to the whole thing, and as much as she wanted to get back to work and spend time with T'ryn again she was just too exhausted to do much more than nap and try to keep Mal happy. A happy dragon meant less screeching, and it just made her feel better too. Eventually Mal cracked open her eyes and stretched, putting even more of her ponderous weight onto Caz to cuddle more as she blinked and woke up before.

Then the little dragonette lifted her head and looked around, eyes flashing with joy and excitement. Oh we're still here! Still in class and all the fun people and maybe we can play a game and I can hide under a desk and they can find me and I'll jump out and spook them and it'll be fun and themaybe wecagoplay withCirithanthen... the excited outpouring of words began to blend together until they were a delightfully pleased incomprehensible babble that at least the candidates seemed to think was adorable. "Hey, hey. We're going to do a lesson all about you! It'll be a great game. You can see how shiny we can get you with the oil, but the game is you have to hold still and be quiet. Okay?"

I can play that game! She got up off of Cazan and circled about, nose high in the air, pudgy rolls rippling with the movement until she settled into a pose appropriate for oiling and held still as she pretended to be a statue.

BOO! Shouted the little dragon, jumping with wings spread as she hopped about in delight. Did I spook you? Did I? I did right?! It was very much like handling a small child and Cazan could only suspect that everyone else with a baby dragon was going through much the same. One of the teenage boys huffed and rolled his eyes. “As if. We were right here.” She could feel Mal’s tiny infuriated rage building up towards a shriek and she very quickly said, “Well you got me! Oh! I forgot you were there you were holding so still and quiet!”

Malvayth settled quickly back down again to babble and croon happily about the oiling and her trick. The lesson continued with another lecture about basic dragon anatomy and fire breathing, how they chewed on firestone to produce their flames which would be needed to fight something called thread. There was a call for questions and Cazan lifted her hand. “How old will Mal be when she starts breathing fire?”

There was a giggle and the same teenage boy scoffed and immediately blurted, “That’s dumb, golds don’t breathe fire.”

Cazan was too slow to stop the enraged screeching that erupted from the tubby little gold, her corpulent form jiggling with rage. NOT DUMB! CAZAN IS THE BEST AND THE SMARTEST AND YOU’RE DUMB WITH YOUR FACE AND I HATE YOU YOU ARE THE WORST OILER AND I HOPE YOUR HANDS FALL OFF! Cazan moved to physically block Mal’s line of sight on the boy and reached out to gently pet her enraged little baby as she distracted. “Hey, do you want to play another little game? It’s called speed nap. We see if you can beat me in a race to nap. If you win then we’ll go find one of your brothers or sisters and you can play and tell them all about your day.”

She could still feel Malvayth’s anger, but it was beginning to wane, her desire to have fun and play a game with her rider overpowering her irritation. After a few minutes the class was back to where it had been, Cazan sitting on the floor with her pudgy gold dominating her lap in peaceful slumber that she wished she could join. At least the teacher seemed unruffled by the disruption, and had even used it as a lesson. “Class this is just an example of what you could possibly expect in the early days once you impress your own dragon. Not only will you have to care for your dragonette’s physical needs but emotional ones as well. Every dragon is different, and some are more or less intelligent than others so you will have to learn to adapt to your lifemate’s individual needs.”

Caz couldn’t really follow along once he started talking, the voice droning on in such a way that she had fallen asleep hunched forward on Malvayth before he’d even finished the first sentence.

F’drel paced the small weyr Quinvalis had been brought to after the Hatching. R’nya had temporarily put Quinvalis in a weyr instead of in the Healers’ room to recover in so his mother could stay close by. If the way they’d been acting at the Hatching hadn’t been enough, the private room definitely confirmed R’nya was sleeping with her. Typical. It fit what F’drel knew of the Fort Weyrleader, certainly.

For once he wasn’t going to complain too much about the dubious favoritism. Since it was an unused weyr, there was space for Miri to stay too, so F’drel didn’t have to worry about her and she could stay close. She’d been distraught about Quinvalis getting hurt, and other than taking F’drel’s sisters home to Ista, she hadn’t left the small weyr. Quinvalis was her friend, and she was worried. F’drel couldn’t think of many times Halomirth had been more worried. The fires in Ista, maybe? It was hard to tell, her worry was compounding with his own making it difficult to sort out.

Quinvalis had woken briefly the night before. He hadn’t been very coherent, and the Healers had given him something almost immediately so he would go back to sleep - to keep him from moving around and aggravating the injuries, as well as to keep the pain down, they’d said - but he’d been awake. Which was a good sign. It could only be a good sign.

F’drel hadn’t meant to stay the night in Fort, but he’d been woken up by a Healer in the small hours of the morning after falling asleep in a chair by the bed Quinvalis was in and directed to a small cot set up nearby. He’d been too tired to protest - though he had moved the cot into a corner and closer to the door to where Halomirth was - and F’drel found arguing with Healers was rarely a good idea. Quilriana had been given a cot from the start; they’d expected her to stay, F’drel was a surprise. It was a surprise to him too, but here he was, back in the same chair he’d fallen asleep in, waiting. At some point he’d have to oil Halomirth, but he could definitely get R’dal or someone to bring some oil to the ledge so they would both stay nearby, just in case.

Posted by: G'nen - 15.Jan.20, 04:23 AM - Forum: Fort Weyr - Replies (4)

When G’nen was asked to be one of the Weyrlingmasters for Aridissicath’s upcoming Clutch, he did not think they would be putting both golds in his class. He supposed it made sense to put the golds together, so they could learn all the gold things together and get to know each other, but why had they given him the golds instead of say, the actually experienced Weyrlingmaster. This was his first class! Sure, he’d been R’moc’s assistant for a couple turns now, but that was different than being in charge of a whole gaggle of Weyrlings - including two golds!

Ah well, G’nen would do his best regardless, and he had people he could call on when - not if, when - he needed help. It would be fine. Totally fine. These Weyrlings were gonna turn out great.

They were doing pretty well so far, overall, G’nen felt as he looked over his group, all busy oiling itchy dragonets. He walked through them slowly, stopping at each pair and noting the general health of each hatchling as he went. Eventually he came to the two golds who were a minor source of bewilderment for him (even if he was pleased at the faith everyone seemed to have in him). Both golds were… very round. A number of the other dragonets were similarly chubby, including one particular brown and a few greens. As far as G’nen could tell, though, they were perfectly healthy. Just a little baby fat. Probably. Aradissicath had such healthy Clutches, and Fort had a good turn, plenty of food, so they must have been extraordinarily well nourished in those eggs.

Really, there was little to be concerned about with the hatchlings. The riders, on the other hand, G’nen was a little more worried about. There was the Lady who had Impressed from the stands - very shellshocked about it all, he’d felt - but it wasn’t too terribly difficult the first few weeks, so she should be alright. Just feed and oil and nap in cycles. Barely enough energy left over to panic about the new direction your life had taken. They’d worry about that more after the first two or so weeks were through, though G’nen was planning to talk to her properly before the week was through. And there was one bluerider G’nen felt he should keep an eye on, but other than that, everyone seemed to be doing pretty well.

G’nen tried to put little games into oiling whenever he could, add an extra layer of engagement for both rider and dragonet. The game of the moment was finding their dragon’s favorite spot to scratch without asking. Dragons weren’t allowed to tell, either. It was about picking up emotions and physical signs from your lifemate, not just relying on a dragon telling their rider everything. Dragons could keep secrets, after all.

I have never kept a secret from you in my life, Yanth said lazily, sprawled at the edge of the group so he could help with keeping an eye on everyone, one hatchling playing with the end of his tail. Yanth gently flicked it back and forth, allowing the play good naturedly. G’nen smiled at the dragon.

’I’m sure you haven’t. Not even once. Especially not that time you didn’t tell me you had made an arrangement with a mated green.' Yanth snorted.

Especially not that. Pay attention to the Weyrlings, I think one of the pairs may need you. G’nen furrowed his brow in concern and turned to look around his class, trying to figure out who Yanth thought needed his help.

Posted by: Rhaedalyn - 08.Jan.20, 12:54 PM - Forum: Fort Weyr - Replies (67)

Once again Rhaedalyn felt something wasn’t right as she rolled over and curled into R’nya’s side. She knew it had to be about time to get up and start the day and she would—soon. She wanted a few more minutes of cuddling but Aradissicath was making that impossible as she gently gave off odd vibes that Rhaedalyn couldn’t quite name despite how well they knew each other.

I think it’s time. The eggs have been moving a bit for an hour now.

That’s impossible. We only had the Touching yesterday and you’re so regular that we couldn’t have been a week off. Rhaedalyn was never the only one keeping track of such things. R’nya always liked to track the days and a few others did as well. They weren’t due to hatch for at least five more days.

I know what I see, child. Come down and see for yourself. When Aradissicath used that tone and called her ‘child’, Rhaedalyn knew her dragon was serious and not in a mood to argue or play around. So she crawled out of bed, kissing R’nya’s cheek when he stirred and explained what may or may not be happening and would return shortly.

When she arrived at the Sands, she hugged Aradissicath and tried not to disturb Iliyith on the other end as she seemed to be fast asleep. The poor dear wouldn’t be much longer if a Hatching was about to start. Rhaedalyn was worried about that as well. Aradissicath was behaving herself so far with having the other gold out there with her and other dragons would be joining them around the cavern later on so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Making herself comfortable on Aradissicath’s foot, Rhaedalyn watched the eggs for a bit and squeaked in surprise when she thought she saw one move. She moved in closer, slowly moving around the eggs and nearly jumped out of her skin as one directly beside her started rocking.

Oh dear.

Looks like we’re having a Hatching today, my love. I’ll go send word, you get to your humming!

As Rhaedalyn went back to alert R’nya, Aradissicath started her song to alert the dragons of the Weyr. In no time, Fort was waking to begin their preparations for the big day, albeit with a lot of confusion. Rhaedalyn already had her letters written for each Weyr and the Lord Holders that they dealt with so she sent them off one at a time with her three who had become quite the good little carriers—even Muffin, the rascal.

By the time their guests had started to arrive, Rhaedalyn had already dressed and fed herself and the girls before sending them off to the crèche for the day. She then moved down to the Sands once more to check in with the Healers to ensure they were properly set up and if they needed anything else. The Candidates would be arriving shortly and she saw an assistant milling about, so she went to speak with him to check in on the staff as well as how the Candidates were doing with the short notice. The Touching seemed to have gone smoothly but they hadn’t been left with a lot of time to digest their feelings and she worried for the new Searched ones.

Satisfied with the information, Rhaedalyn returned to her spot by Aradissicath where Xyreith and R’nya had joined her. She gave R’nya another kiss to the cheek as she slipped into his outstretched arms. “I guess they were just too excited from meeting the Candidates yesterday. I think I’ll blame Xyreith for the impatience or should it be Aradissicath for the eagerness?” She giggled as she looked at both dragons, knowing they always teased the other about traits the babies had.

Rhaedalyn was woken up before 5am. Letters went out shortly after that. Since they are so eager, they won't make you wait much longer and start hatching at 7am.

This is being posted 2 days before the event begins to allow time for everyone to arrive and not feel rushed once the Hatching actually begins. The first actual hatching post will go up around 9am EST Friday the 10th.

THE RULES:
Everyone is welcome to come watch! If you’re only watching, please go directly to the stands, do not linger on the Sands or approach the Candidates. Candidates, you can go right onto the Sands and form up around the eggs and settle in for some waiting.

Candidates:
- Will have been told to wear shoes! Sturdy shoes to save their feet.
- Be in Candidate robes that more or less fit them.
- Will have hair pulled back in a pony-tail or a braid. In addition, they will be no jewellery, belt, sash, or anything ‘extra’. Don’t want anything to get tugged on and cause an injury.
- Aradissicath loves firelizards in day to day life but she’s not huge on distractions around her eggs. Firelizards will be allowed in but they must stay with the humans in the stands or up with the dragons on the ledges. If they go near the eggs or Candidates, they may not live to brag about it.

On honorifics – it is SP canon that the dragon picks the honorific. They might pick something their rider likes, something they do not, or whatever. They will usually pluck the name from their rider’s mind, so it is likely that said rider will like their name, or have ‘pre picked’ it on some level subconsciously prior to Impression.

Once Impressed, please move through the following:
- Move dragonet to the sidelines and feed it
- Slap oil on any particularly dry spots
- Head to the Barracks to get some rest. Emotions are exhausting.

PC Impressions will have their dragonet posted on their Candidate Application! This will let you see your baby before anyone else!

Remember: NO SPOILERS. If you want to talk spoilers, keep it to the Hatching Spoilers channel in Discord.

Have fun!

T'ryn was a mess.

More so than usual.

He'd done a lot of thinking, so much thinking--and panicking--since everything that happened with Cazelerias the day before. None of what happened was like him. He didn't normally accept blow jobs from people he barely knew, or even friends he'd known forever--mostly. Really, Casa was the only one he was doing anything physical with outside of Bedith's Flights. He lacked in confidence for the most part and knew where he stood now with Casa and at least knew what she liked. He wasn't too sure about anyone else and normally wouldn't have even thrown himself into a kiss like he had. Or asked for more after the other person said they should stop. That was a whole other issue he felt like crap about. Had he pushed Cazelerias into giving him that farewell kiss?

Casa did her best to reassure him (after a lot of teasing comments about wanting to watch him with a man), telling him the kiss was definitely freely given from what she could tell, and that a lot of people wanted him so it wasn't that odd of a morning, and that it wasn't odd to like the same gender. T'ryn knew that and was fine with it but he had never been sure if he actually did or not. N'mor had always been the only male he had been attracted to; loved. So it was hard to know if he was attracted to anyone else when comparing feelings to what he had for N'mor. So a lot of time had been spent brooding over feelings and his ability to tell if he liked someone as a friend or something a bit more. Apparently all he had ever known before was friendship and a deep interest in someone that then turned into love if he went by his only two non-flight experiences.

Then there was the twin thing. Casa again teased him about how much fun twins would be together and he kept trying to explain it wasn't that he wanted them both at the same time. But what if he wasn't even interested in Cazelerias but Cazan? He'd even thought about her while her brother gave him head. Clearly something was wrong with him!

After all of that, T'ryn had decided that maybe he was interested in men as well but that he perhaps should still apologise to Cazelerias since the man had obviously been drinking and may have regretted everything himself. T'ryn didn't want to ruin their budding friendship with what happened if it wasn't really intended to happen. So if Caz said that it was a fluke, T'ryn would roll with that and then never think about it again. If there was something more to come out of it, then he'd be willing to give that a go as well. Either way, he had a feeling he was going to be an awkward mess since he had no real experience, or at least no success, in such conversations.

He was already starting out awkwardly as he knocked on the door and peeked his head in a bit instead of just letting himself in like normal. "Caz? I brought breakfast if you're interested." He wanted things to be normal but he had no idea where they stood at the moment so he stood outside in case his presence wasn't wanted just yet.

Quinvalis’ emotions were a bit jumbled as he followed the crowd out of the Hatching area. For the most part, he liked this Touching but the thoughts of revenge on everyone lingered and he hated it. He was practically chanting that he was loved and that he loved, not hated, as he walked out and squinted up at the sun. It was a nice day out and maybe he’d volunteer to watch Rhaedalyn’s older girls that afternoon and play in the Bowl for a bit. That would help lift his mood.

Just like seeing a very familiar green dragon did. “Halomirth!” Quinvalis shouted her name happily and ran over to where she and F’drel lingered. He threw his arms around the dragon’s neck and clung tightly to her in his customary hug. She was one of the sweetest beings he’d ever know, dragon or human. She was kind, always listened, and offered gentle advice when it seemed he needed it, but mostly, they could just babble at each other about anything and he never felt judged.

Even F’drel didn’t intimidate him as much as the day at the Gather and he had warmed up to the greenrider. “Hi, F’drel,” he greeted the man, still clinging to Halomirth. He hadn’t quite gotten to the level of hugging F’drel as freely but the idea didn’t seem as far-fetched as it once did the more he got to know the man.

“I didn’t know you were coming today,” he finally released Halomirth and turned to address F’drel as it dawned on him that the timing probably just happened to line up with something else. He hadn’t told them about the Touching and hadn’t found the courage to ask them to come watch the Hatching yet either so it definitely was coincidence. “What crazy errand do they have you on today?”

Then he looked back at Halomirth, “or maybe you’re visiting your boyfriend Zeianth,” he teased with a little laugh. Halomirth saw every dragon has her boyfriend or at least a good friend but Quinvalis had been privy to some of her tales and she seemed to find Zeianth swoon-worthy more often than not.
