Month 05, 741 AL

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 06, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries: Season, Low to High
Ista Boundaries: Season, Low to High

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Month 09, 739 AL
North: Early Autumn| South: Early Spring
13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself uncommonly warm (~12C / 53.6) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

The late-season weather is settling, with much of the Northern hemisphere coated in snow (the exception being the much warmer Ista region) while Katila remains humid and sweltering in the height of Summer.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future.

December 2017

And so it is December! Can’t believe how fast this year is flying by! At any rate, we have LOTS of fun for you this month! For starters, why don’t you sign up for our Secret Santa Event! Pairs will be assigned on the 14th! You can sign your character(s) up as a Giver, a Receiver or Both! We also hope that you enjoy our Christmas layout, which will be available for use for the entire month of December! After that, it will go into hiding until next Christmas!

We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!

This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!

November 2017

Welcome to November! We'd love it if you would take the time to Vote in our Horrifying Moments threads! We will also be awarding Stamps for people who vote, not just those who took part! We hope you enjoyed this event as much as we did! You can see the Stamps that will be awarded in the Horrifying Moment's thread.

This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!

October 2017

Welcome to October! As part of our Halloween celebrations, the Horrifying Moments event is now open! You may START a thread at any point during the month of October to qualify it for the event! We hope you have a lot of fun with this event, and we look forward to reading your threads! Don't forget to "Like" the threads you enjoy most, so we can award someone the MOST HORRIFYING stamp! Stamps will be revealed later in the month!

September 2017

Welcome to September! This month, we're working on our Awards for the site! We are also advertising avidly! Please welcome any guests or new members with all that warm charm we know you all posess! That said, we are still seeking Affiliates, so if you're here to drop an ad, please consider us!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

The late afternoon sunlight glanced off of the Weyr bowl, sending rays dancing skyward in dazzling display. Summer warmth fought to hang on, seeking refuge in the rock, and the Weyr's many dragons took advantage, sunning themselves on their ledges. Aederyn plucked her way down the steps from the Weyrwoman’s rooms and started at a brisk jog around the edge of the bowl, finished with her duties for the day and eager to have some time to herself.

The last few months had been a whirlwind. She was busier than she ever was as a Runner. If she wasn’t corralling kids she was helping in the lower caverns, and if not there she was studying and learning all she could about the dragons. Though there weren’t any clutches on the sands at fort just yet, she still wanted to take in all the information on the creatures that she could before she stood on the Sands.

Thoughts of studying brought thought of writing, and she realized she hadn’t checked in with her brother in far too long. The lack of a proper message pouch or tube also settled in her mind, as she’d need to send Rudi to figure out where Alekse’s next Runner Station destination would be… Who was the girl R’dare had mentioned? She’d made one crazy mark with her unorthodox Impression, but she couldn’t honestly say that she’d seen the girl since then…Stopping and scanning the bowl, she saw the beautiful gold and her rider down by the lake. Figuring this fluke of some free time shouldn’t go to waste, she picked up her pace and ran down to the pair, waving as she approached.

741.09.06 | How do notes even work?
Posted by: Fediletch - 06.Sep.20, 05:55 PM - Forum: Telgar Weyr - No Replies

Fetch was supposed to be reading; he was doing his best but he was having such a hard time trying to stay focused on it. It was a book about dragons and their riders fighting thread, or at least that's what he was told it was about, but even the subject of dragons was having trouble keeping him engaged. There were so many letters and words and he couldn't remember what all of them were supposed to look like. He had a pad of paper and a pencil that he was supposed to be writing notes or something, (but why would he write notes when the words were already written?), but instead he was using them to doodle pictures of Chuck as the young brown firelizard lounged nearby.

He felt guilty as he looked at the sketch, and tried to turn his attention back to the book. As if he could sense Fediletch's sour mod, Chuck chose that moment to crawl over and into the young man's lap for some pets and scratches. Fetch sighed and leaned back in his chair to stair up at the ceiling of the dining hall as he obliged the creature. A part of him wanted to just give up, a dragon probably deserved someone more clever than he was, someone who could read stories to it. Chuck gave a small chirp from his lap and Fetch looked down at the little miniature dragon. "Okay, just don't make fun of me, Chuck."

He turned back to the book and started to try and read again, taking his time to try and pronounce the words so that they made sense as he tried to read aloud to the firelizard. "Once upon a time... there was a great cal.... calamty. Calamity... what's that even mean?" Maybe that was what the notes were supposed to be about. He carefully wrote the word down next to the sketch of Chuck to ask about later, and then continued on.

Posted by: Corvilis - 04.Sep.20, 05:11 PM - Forum: Ista Weyr - Replies (4)

Things were going rather smoothly, at least as far as Corvilis could determine. He was already technically a candidate, and so far that just seemed like the equivalent of a junior apprentice for dragon riders. He had to attend some sort of class, do chores to basically make sure he had a place to stay, pay lip service to the people who already had dragons, and wait for some eggs to happen in a few months or so. This would be easy; he just had to keep his nose clean for a bit. Not that Sky was helping that any.

While Fern was content to be lazy and just beg for his attention when she was feeling bored, Sky seemed determined to just proactively perform the various tricks he knew to try and impress his master. At least so far the blue firelizard had just been stealing a few worthless but shiny trinkets and opening things at random, things that would probably not get them into a bunch of trouble, he hoped.

At least it would be an excuse to introduce himself to a few more people around the weyr. Corvilis dug through his pockets to pull out Sky's latest acquisition, a leather bracelet with some shiny beads woven into it, and decided to approach a rider with his rather young looking blue dragon.

As he walked closer he saw that the blue dragon wasn't just small, but also rather skinnier than he expected. Was it sick? He didn't think dragons normally got that thin. It probably wouldn't hurt to ask once he'd broken the ice a bit. He put on a friendly smile and waved. "Hello! I found this bracelet, does it look familiar to you at all? And it is nice to meet you, I'm Corvilis, still rather new here."

Posted by: Kor'is - 03.Sep.20, 12:28 PM - Forum: Fort Weyr - No Replies

Taith was just days away from being eight months old. Not that he was keeping track but the Weyrlingmaster and the assistants liked to make everything into a great big milestone. Like getting their own weyr. He supposed his current home was of a decent size thanks to Taith's bulk demanding the space of what he assumed used to belong to a brown pair before the plague. It was nice having his own space again and even nicer that it was quiet--so blissfully quiet.

He had officially moved in the day before and now sat on his bed staring at the blank wall across the room. He hadn't asked for much in the way of furniture, only needing a bed, a chest or dresser for his clothes, and a table and chair in the main room--which he had actually set out on the ledge so he could paint in the daylight instead of the dreary light of glow stones. Are you going to start painting more? Taith's excitement was evident though he managed not to scream the words in delight this time.

Maybe. He had dabbled a little during weyrlinghood but it never felt right. Sometimes the excuse was too many people around, sometimes he decided there wasn't enough time to work on a project before a class had to be attended. Mostly, it just didn't feel right, as if he didn't know who he was anymore. At one point he used brightly coloured paints instead of his usual black. Black had always represented who he was and how he felt but Kor'is also knew that Taith had filled in some of that emptiness the moment they met and he had hoped it would reflect in his works.

It didn't.

Kor'is felt awkward staring at the completed piece and felt that it wasn't a genuine reflection of himself. So he had poured black paint along the top of the page and lifted it up to watch the black dribble slowly over the colourful design, a small smile appearing. The end result was almost entirely black with only hints of colour peeking through. He had thought to destroy the painting with that but in the end found that it had been exactly what was needed and fit his mood perfectly. Taith wanted him to hang it up in their new home but Kor'is compromised and said he would keep it but not display it. He kept his word and kept the painting tucked in between pages of a book he used to sketch in or write poems.

He heard Taith land on the ledge and Kor'is got up to greet him. The blue wasn't quite as chubby as he had once been but he still had an appetite. The assistants said two feedings per week was perfectly acceptable, especially given both his size and that he wasn't quite finished growing yet. So every three to four days Taith would head down to the hunting grounds and prove his worth--though Kor'is knew without even having to attend that it was more a time to play with other dragons than to show off. Taith wanted to befriend everyone and saw hunting as social hour instead of a time to impress the females.

Grabbing a cloth, Kor'is went over and wiped a bit of blood from Taith's muzzle. "You're getting better at keeping it neat," not that he expected Taith to come back spotless given the task at hand. But the first few times reminded him of the Hatching with Taith's head in a bucket and coated in everything he didn't like thinking about. Oftentimes Taith would go for a swim after feeding to clean up himself but if he'd had a particularly good meal, he was a lazy beast and came right home.

Why don't you decorate more? I heard some of the others talking and their riders have lots of furniture and things on the walls. Kor'is sighed, knowing Taith had picked up on his thoughts about the weyr and how sparse it was, especially considering what he had back in Ista Hold. His lodgings at Ista Weyr fell somewhere in between, though likely still closer to Hold than Weyr.

"Because I'm not sure if we'll stay here when we graduate," Kor'is admitted as he tossed the rag aside to clean later and picked up the one he used for oiling.

But why wouldn't we? We have friends here.

"You have friends here. I have people I barely tolerate." He started rubbing oil into a patch that looked a bit dry, allowing himself a small grin when Taith gave his version of a purr of pleasure. "Besides, you haven't seen the other Weyrs. You might love Ista. It's always warm and with a nice spot for swimming, though Casa is WeyrWoman now and I can only imagine what that's like. But Mylorah is there so you would see her all the time. And Misha," he brought up an image of his friend to remind Taith who that was. They kept in touch via letters and whatever gossip Mylorah brought between them and B'kit but they still hadn't seen each other in person since the Hatching.

Taith rumbled in agreement and then ruined the moment by adding, and your mom. Kor'is froze, hearing the cautious excitement in the dragon's voice, before returning to the task and moving to another dry spot. "My mother won't care which Weyr I'm in. She wouldn't even notice if I was back in Ista so don't get your hopes up about what it would be like meeting her, kid. There are far better people to meet out there anyway." And most of them were in their right mind and didn't resent him for being alive.

He sighed again and waved off the mumbled apology before trying to make Taith feel better. "We could stay here. Less paperwork, at least." It was also larger so he could avoid people easier if needed.

Well... would Tazikel visit more if we were in Ista with Mylorah? He really shouldn't have been surprised by that point with how quickly Taith's moods swung around but shrugged before putting the oil rag away.

"Maybe? I don't exactly keep up with their relationship or whatever they want to call their interactions." He knew they still got together sometimes and the only way he saw Tazikel was when T'ryn shuttled him and Mylorah over so it made sense the lordling would be in Ista more than he was in Fort.

I hope so! He's funny, Kor'is gave Taith an odd look and started laughing at the images presented to him.

"I don't think he's intending to be viewed that way but I, for one, appreciate that you do.” He hadn’t quite noticed it himself at the Hatching or even when they came to visit for Mylorah’s birthday, but upon a lot of reflection, Kor’is saw Tazikel in all of his awkward glory. Not that he had been any better at those times either but he felt he had gotten over it. But seeing Tazikel unsure of how to speak to a perky freshly hatched dragonet had been rather entertaining. The rest of the tension and odd interactions that Taith seemed so fond of watching stemmed from them both being weak to Mylorah’s ideas and then unsure how to proceed from there.

He had found his way after a few months of brooding and acting a bit out of sorts around his friend. Once he told himself he didn’t have a problem with kissing another man—something pretty tame compared to what he had gotten up to with Misharan before that point—it had been easier to get to the actual root of the issue. The crush he had on Tazikel when they were younger had returned thanks to them both being far more attractive and spiking his libido the right way but just like when they were younger, Kor’is knew it would be one-sided and shoved the attraction aside. Tazikel initiating the kiss had confused him and left him wondering but the lordling was impulsive and rarely thought anything through and therefore it hadn’t been anything to drive him mad for several months.

All that said, he had still seen the man naked and in the throes of some serious sexy times so that did change a friendship to some degree. He still felt he was doing better with acceptance—or at least ignoring and moving on—but who knew? Maybe next time Mylorah dragged Tazikel along, the lordling would be his usual level of flightiness they all knew him for.

“We’ll talk more about my weird friends and where to live later. We have flight lessons in two or so hours and you need to nap,” Kor’is knew he didn’t need to point that out. Taith was a careful tracker of the sun when it came to certain lessons as he loved flying and loved it even more now that they were beginning to fly together. Kor’is was still on the fence about it—both loving the freedom but slightly terrified of the responsibility and perhaps even the height.

As Taith curled up on the ledge to soak up some sun, Kor’is debated what to do. He could nap as well but it was still early in the day and he hadn’t been up all that long. He glanced at the table and chair and then back at the dragon that was no longer light blue but a dark shade that almost looked black in the right light. Inspired, Kor’is gathered up his supplies and settled in at the table to paint.

Casa slipped lightly through the hallways, nodding or greeting those that she passed, or that passed her, but didn’t linger or chat for long when she was pulled up, instead excusing herself and quickly making her way down the halls, closer to her goal. She’d put this off for far too long as it was, and now that she’d finally built up the courage to correct that, she couldn’t afford to be distracted by others. As it was, she’d already spent far too long visiting the Weyrleaders and playing proper political respect before being told to enjoy her stay. Casa snorted. She knew what they thought she was about to get up to.

Casa wished that was what she was about to get up to.

Sighing, and resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of her nose as her thoughts exploded behind her eyes, Casa lengthened her stride, her heeled boots clicking on the stone halls before becoming muffled as she turned down a new hallway, the floor covered in old rugs, the runners slightly threadbare but clean and well looked after, considering they lived their life being walked on. From there it only took a few more moments to reach the doorway of her destination. Casa paused, taking a deep breath, and ignoring her dragon.

Smiling slightly at the nameplate on his door, Casa raised her fist and knocked solidly a couple of times, then lowered her hand and stepped back once, a frown marring her features and her lips pursed as the door finally opened – not that it had been a long wait – and Casa offered a small smile. “Hey.”

Posted by: Mylorah - 13.Jul.20, 10:15 AM - Forum: Tillek Hold - No Replies

She hadn't been out in 'public' with Tazikel in what felt like forever. He had invited her to a dinner Tillek hosted last month and a few weeks before that they had attended Benden Hold's Gather together which had been a lot of fun and where she met Yfris, another one of Tazikel's lordly friends. She still very much preferred having her Sir Tazicurls visit her at the Weyr where everything was much more relaxed but he had the most adorable pout and Mylorah found it hard to say no any time he asked her to go to a party.

Truthfully, the parties weren't that bad anymore. She was used to the dresses, was pretty good at remembering names now, and sometimes even felt accepted by some of the people in attendance. Tazikel was good company and he upheld his promise that he would make every event exciting and show her the secret ways to have fun.

Still, she knew people gossiped about her and she didn't expect everyone to like her--even though it was always her nature to befriend everyone she met. But they were always polite to her face and that was all she could ask for. The illusion of the perfect world she had created to dance in remained intact--until a new song debuted.

She smiled as the trio of women mentioned a new song they wanted to share. That smile had quickly turned into shock after one line. She had been clinging to Tazikel at the time, doing her best to whisper naughty ideas to him and she felt him tensing with each word that came out of their mouths. She was still stuck on being in shock and soon found herself battling with the desire to turn and run away. Keeping Tazikel from having a lordly tantrum and drawing more attention to her kept her in place.

It was easy to see how angry he was and one of the girls saw that as well as she stopped singing before the other two. As much as Mylorah adored him, she couldn't stop from wondering if the anger was for her or if he viewed the song as an attack on his pride and status since she was linked to him. As soon as that thought had hit her, Mylorah was ashamed of herself and pushed her own feelings aside to assuage his anger. She had clapped lightly but pointed out someone was a bit out of pitch and that they were going to go find an actual harper to listen to before escorting Tazikel away from the catty bitches.

She had to assure him multiple times she was fine and it was harmless fun even as the snickering of other guests still echoed in her head. Besides, some of it was true. Best to forget all about it and enjoy themselves. She didn't think he believed her but he let it drop for the time being. If only he knew that every time he stepped a few feet away from her someone would walk by softly singing a snippet of the song.

Looking back on it now, as she laid in Tazikel's bed with the lordling sleeping beside her, she should have expected such a thing.

You're a jungle girl, in our classy world
Out of your league, not a colleague

She was a jungle girl, that wasn't anything she was ashamed of. Heck, it was one of the first things she told Tazikel upon meeting him. Her dearest friend Mimi even said she wasn't meant to be a holder and the way he had said it was a compliment and they giggled as they made fun of them and their horrible rules and way of living. Yet there she was, trying to blend in because a lord had swept her off her feet.

Everything that currently surrounded her were things she never should have had--she never even wanted them. The second son of a major Hold should definitely have been out of her league and she shouldn't know that sheets could be softer than almost any dress she'd ever worn.

Do you brush your hair? You undress anywhere
Flirty temptation, that's your motivation

Flirting was a major part of who she was. She sometimes did it without even realising it and she blamed that on her father. With R'nd as a dad, could she expect anything less? Still, because of that, even just a friendly conversation or an innocent dance was often viewed in a different light, especially when she was near a Hold. One of the girls singing the song had been clinging to a lord Mylorah remembered dancing with at the Benden Gather. They had laughed and chatted for a few songs before parting ways. She hadn't made any advances toward him and he had been the one to kiss her hand before leaving, but that must have been the last straw for a jealous woman with nothing better to do than tear down another woman to make herself feel good. The other two girls that serenaded her often tried throwing themselves at Tazikel so Mylorah decided jealousy was their motivator as well.

You're a dumb jungle girl in way over your head
Dress you up, doesn't help, you're still slutty

She thought about the beautiful dress that was currently draped over a chair in the corner of the room. They weren't really wrong. Tazikel and his sister-in-law had worked hard to find the perfect style that was respectable yet still comfortable for her. Sure, they were sometimes stifling and she needed help in and out of one in particular but she felt pretty and it made Tazikel smile. Again she thought of the Gather and how she had worn a dress from T'ryn. Her brother had an amazing sense of fashion and knew her style well enough that he found something simple and a tad longer than her preferred length so she could twirl and play at the Gather without scandalizing too many people. It still probably looked like a slip to all the proper ladies out there--not to mention their beliefs of what went on in Weyrs. So she really was just a slut playing dress up.

Before she could will away the feelings again, Mylorah was silently crying into the too fluffy pillow covered in the too soft material. She vaguely wondered if the fabric was so fine it would leave tear stains and the thought almost had her bursting out in laughter at how ridiculous she was.

Maybe it was time she stopped pretending she was more than she was meant to be. Stop playing dress up, stop leaving the Weyr. It wasn't like anyone actually expected her to fit in or marry anyone in their circle. She was just a whim of a second son that was going on a bit longer than anyone expected. Even she hadn't thought their friendship would last so long, especially once she saw how different their worlds were. She was getting an idea of what Kordiavis must have gone through as a child born from the dragonless ex-Weyrwoman that dared to befriend the heir of Ista Hold. He had built walls and came across as mean and stand offish yet she always believed he was kind and hurting inside.

But he found a way out of the horrible Hold life and she'd always had an escape route. She didn't need to beg anyone to pack up and relocate--she just had to tell Tazikel she was going home to Ista Weyr and stay there. She used the sheet to wipe away her tears, not worrying about stains this time, and then rolled over to look at the lordling.

He was ridiculously adorable as he slept thanks to the peaceful expression and the way the curls fell in his face. She hated how much she adored the man and when she thought about it too much, it scared her and the R'nd blood in her wanted her to flee. But he was easy to talk with, he always made her laugh, and the sex was fantastic. He was the reason why she put on the dresses, learned names, and smiled through insults flung at her. She didn't want his world; just him.

Walking away would ensure she'd never see him again, despite how much of his world he didn't care for either. She certainly wasn't going to make him choose her over his perfect and lavish life either.

You're a dumb jungle girl in way over your head

She was... she really, really was.

But being a jungle girl meant she also knew how to fight dirty and survive. Running away was exactly what those bitches and many others with their fake smiles wanted. So what did that leave her with? She could give in and learn names, ranks, connections, proper manners, and add layers to her outfits but that would be denying who she was. She could always just punch the ladies the next time she saw them, reminding everyone that she wasn't raised like them and played games a tad a differently. That sounded fun but it wouldn't help the reputation of anyone that actually did like her.

Honestly, she wanted to pretend it didn't happen and to continue on with her illusion that everything was fine. Her reputation and feelings didn't matter to her so long as her family and friends were safe. She had, after all, stepped into the path of a bronze hatchling to keep Ayontay safe after the first bite he received from another one. Perhaps she could find a middle ground.

One thing she enjoyed was gossip and Mylorah had learned that no one amongst the lords and ladies were squeaky clean. If they weren't sleeping with people they shouldn't be with, they were making alliances behind someone's back or plotting the demise of someone else. She could put more effort into being a proper date for a second son with appearance and mannerisms while collecting the right dirt on the ladies currently targeting her. She wasn't one to start rumours or even go for blackmail but a tiny hint of what she might know wouldn't hurt. The men those harpies were after deserved a bit of extra kindness as well. Nothing much; just friendly conversations and genuine smiles. She suspected they were lacking in those.

The song still played in her head--she hated how catchy the tune was-- and the lyrics still hurt as she inched closer to Tazikel to kiss him softly on the cheek. He was a deep sleeper, which was a good thing in that moment. She didn't want him to know she was still up or how upset the night had actually made her as it would just make him angry again or worry and he was far too pretty for worry lines.

As she settled back in against the pillow with the intent to actually try to sleep, Mylorah smiled. She seemed to spend a lot of time living in the head of Holders. Not to mention that she could trace some of the connections back to the Gather two months earlier meaning they had to have spent that long coming up with the song.

I’m a jungle girl, playing in your world
Better deal with it, I don’t give a shit.

Did you see that! Did you see?! Malvayth's soft voice bubbled with excitement in Cazan's head. She knew in her gut that the dragon had just done a roll in mid air, spinning like a top, but looked up from her work on the leather straps anyway. Show me again, can you do it while you're flying sideways instead of just straight down?

I can! Watch! The gold dragon spread her wings, beating them furiously to gain speed before she tucked one wing in then the other, performing the barrel roll like she'd been flying for years rather than a couple of month or so. Cazan watched the display, marveling for a moment at how quickly her tubby little gold ball had turned into the monster soaring overhead. Fourteen feet tall at the withers and twenty seven feet long, far too big to sprawl on her lap anymore though the gold did still try to get as close as she could sometimes with just her chin crushing her rider's legs. The growth spurt had brought other changes too, Mal was much leaner now, and if Cazan hadn't been there from the beginning she would have had a hard time imagining how tubby the dragon once was. Her hide was getting brighter with every oiling, turning almost orange in some places.

Cazan reached up to scratch at her jaw and realized the itch wasn't hers. Very nice. You should come down and either take a swim or let me oil you. Probably both. The reply was a whine that threatened to turn into a tantrum. But I'm having fun! Caz sighed and shook her head. I know you are, and you are such a good flyer that it's a shame to have to bring you down, but you're starting to get a bit dry. You can go back up if you want after I give you a good oiling, okay? Hopefully Mal would realize she was getting tired by then and settle in for a nap. The dragon had been rather sensitive of her intellectual shortcomings when she was younger, that now that she finally had found something she excelled at she never wanted to stop. Some of their classmates had to be encouraged to fly, Mal had to be coaxed back down. Not that Cazan minded. It gave her a little bit of time to do some more leatherwork.

The gold gave one more excited roll in the sky, wings flaring out dramatically before she made her way back down towards the pond to splash into it playfully. Caz put away the straps into her bag and pulled out the oil as she waited for Mal to finish playing around so she could get to work on her oiling. Hopefuly afterwards there would be a nap and she could get some more work done uninterrupted.

T'ryn.

Syrendryth waited a few seconds and when no reply came, he tried again, nudging his rider with a bit more force. This was important and he didn't want to wait until T'ryn finally roused himself out of the sleep that came after a successful Flight.

T'ryn!

Mm? T'ryn managed to form some sort of mental reply, if only to shut up his dragon. He was exhausted and his limbs were too heavy to even lift a hand to brush hair from his face. He wasn't even sure if it was his hair or Mulrissa's currently annoying him. They had won enough Flights now that T'ryn was aware enough to know when one happened based on how he was feeling upon coming back to his own mind and waking. It also didn't hurt that they had been camping out at Telgar for the Flight to happen so it wasn't an unexpected surprise.

I need your full attention, this is important.

Mmhm, you have it, well, mostly. T'ryn really would have preferred to pass out for a bit before talking to anyone. He was growing more and more comfortable waking up beside Mulrissa thanks to the woman being so chill about everything and guiding him in proper manners or distracting him before he started thinking too much. Because Syrendryth had constantly insisted on visits to Bedith during every Flight cycle and hunting for her when needed, T'ryn had started having lunch dates with Mulrissa while their dragons mingled and it had turned into something that they kept up year round. He considered the woman a friend and the fact that they seemed to have to sleep together once a year no longer bothered him.

Good because that will become a regular thing now.

Someone's extra arrogant today. Another win and now you suddenly think you'll have them all? Honestly, T'ryn was used to his dragon's arrogance since the bronze always judged everyone and didn't think anyone was worthy of his rider.

Bedith and I have mated.

Obviously. It's why I currently don't have the energy to move.

T'ryn could feel Syrendryth's frustration and he sighed in response. It wasn't his fault he had no idea what was going on.

Bedith and I are mates. She is special to me and the only gold I ever want. I am relieved and lucky to say she feels the same for me.

When an immediate reply didn't come, Syrendryth knew T'ryn was in shock and slowly coming to terms with the news that would strike him in 3...2...

T'ryn had a sudden rush of energy as he twisted from lying on his stomach to sit up in bed as he called out, "What?!"

Nothing could temper B’kit’s enthusiasm today. Not the seemingly endless drills they’d been doing all week. Or the definitely endless safety checks. Not J’shom fussing like a broody wherry. None of it.

Because today was something the class had been working toward for months and finally they had the official permission for the trip. He couldn’t keep a grin off his face as he went through the last check of Erebuth’s harness and waited for the Weyrlingmaster’s review. He could feel Erebuth’s own excitement and annoyance at the innumerable delays as the morning slipped away, and rested a hand on the blue’s hide.

As the others got their sign offs the three weyrlings scrambled into place, as though concerned the permission would be withdrawn if a bug so much as sneezed on one of the dragons, but his attention was all on Erebuth. Are you ready, Re? The blue’s snort and exasperation across their bond brought another smile to his face. Confirming the coordinates with the Weyrlingmaster and holding them firmly in his mind, they finally took off and any lingering worries fell away. Finally all the drills would pay off!

One.

Two.

Three-

-and there they were over the heights at Benden. We did it! Kitt thumped Erebuth on the neck and laughed aloud. Of course we did. It was easy. The blue was playing it cool but B’kit could feel his excitement and it was as infectious as his own.

It was the best day ever!

Madiquel had had an amazing day, spent shopping and laughing and eating with friends. She hadn’t realised how deeply she’d missed them all (and she hadn’t even seen everyone yet!) during her Weyrlinghood. She was glad that soon to would be over, and she’d be able to return to something more akin to the life she had led before Zezeth’s Hatching and Impression. She loved her dragon, but she missed her social life, her friends, and her education. Madiquel was looking forward to the return of all of them, and the freedom that would come with being bonded to a graduated dragon.

Now, though, as the sun was slowly setting, Madiquel was standing on the edge of the dancing floor, a small glass of watered wine in hand, watching the couples as they swirled around to the music. She was building herself up to finding D’hys and requesting a dance with the bluerider. She could imagine it all so clearly! The girl’s eyes went slightly glassy as she lost herself in the imagined scenario…

Madiquel was watching the dancers, when she spotted D’hys. He was leaning against a table, wine in hand, watching the dancers without a care in the world. Madiquel was instantly transfixed by the way the setting sun was lighting his hair up, and casting his face into mysterious shadows. She bit her bottom lip, watching him watch the crowd for several long moments before she found herself edging around the floor and making her way towards him. Her stomach was aflutter, and her heart was pounding, but her head felt calm and Madiquel walked with confidence as she slipped between other people.

She felt grown up and beautiful as she walked towards him, putting a little sway into her hips and a small smile on her lips. Her eyes lit up when she realised he was now looking at her,
actually looking at her, and a soft blush lit across her cheeks and she dropped her gaze for a moment, collecting herself. Lifting her chin, she met D’hys’ gorgeous blue eyes with a confident smile and dropped into a polite curtsy, wishing she had such confidence in her reality. “May I have this dance?” she asked…

Her fantasy paused for a moment as she ran through several scenarios of adding titles to the statement, a frown furrowing her eyebrows before smoothing out. She decided to leave it as that, and took a small sip of her drink before losing herself once more.

His hand was large, and warm, and his gentle touch filled her with tingling warmth as he lead her onto the dance floor; he hadn’t said anything, just took her hand, and Madiquel had followed him faithfully. She watched the way he moved in his gather finery, the way the sun, getting lower, was still glinting in his hair, and the way his eyes seemed to go from the pale icy shade to a deep blue depending on what angle the light was hitting them. She very nearly swooned as he stopped suddenly, pulling her to him and wrapping an arm around her waist in a smooth movement. She pressed her free hand gently to his chest, peering up at him with wide, enamoured eyes.

Then they were dancing, and Madiquel felt like one of the princesses in Rhaedalyn’s stories.
The goldrider had told her D’hys was a fine dancer, so Madiquel took that and ran with it. She made D’hys master of the dance floor, the figments of her imagination swirling her around the dancefloor with glorious abandon, no one else existed. She felt safe and secure and confident and beautiful. When the music in the real world came to a close, so did the dancing in her mind, and Madiquel took an absent sip of her wine, noticing the sun was very nearly out of sight now, the sky was ablaze with colours. She smiled softly to herself.

Madiquel felt like she was the only other person on all of Pern as she glanced up, the dancing stopped, the world slowing around them. She smiled softly, then blushed and looked away when D’hys continued to stare down at her. She felt her heart pounding in her throat and her ears when he used his finger to tilt her chin up, her eyes widening and then fluttering shut when he was so close she could taste his breath—

Madiquel gasped as someone bumped into her, effectively ruining her little fantasy and causing her to spill her wine – thankfully not onto her dress! – and drop the glass; it shattered at her feet and Madiquel’s bottom lip trembled as she stared down at the mess, unsure what to do. She didn’t want to pick up the pieces without gloves, knowing the likelihood of cutting herself was very high, but she couldn’t just leave the mess there. Sighing, and pouting sadly, Madiquel tried to catch the eye of a server.
