IC vs OOC
Greetings,
World of Pern would like to begin by stating that we take the definition between Real Life, and the setting of this game very seriously. While our In Character setting has the makings to be all kinds of uncivilised and backward of culture, we as Players and the Administration team take the comfort of ourselves and each other very seriously. Under no circumstances are the In Character culture to cross into Out of Character; should you ever feel that someone is carrying across the bigotry, misogomy or assorted phobias of Pern into the Out of Character community, please contact the Administrator of your choice, who will deal with the issue in a timely manner.
Additionally, World of Pern does not allow for 'shock factor' use of sensitive subjects. If you feel a subject is being used purely for the thrill, you are encouraged to speak to the Administrator of your choice to express your concern, who will look into issue.
Players at World of Pern are expected to be honest with their partners, and to take care of themseleves by communicating any discomforts they might have with various topics with those they are writing with. While World of Pern wants everyone to be safe and happy, we also do not wish to micromanage the topics the writes here wish to explore. For this reason, please enter other threads with appropriate caution, and take care of yourself by listening to your own inner voice. Topics marked with a 'mature' prefix, are generally not suitable for reading at work or in company.
Because of the setting in which this game takes place, please note that all characters are restricted to the life and expectancies of a cis gendered individual. While it is entielry plausible that characters could - and certainly do exist on Pern who do not fit the mold, it should be noted that the world at large would not accept them, and they themselves would be incapable of decribing what about themselves is different, let alone express their indivduality (for example, using non-bianary pronouns) in such a backward world. While it is possible that characters who do not fit into a cis mold could definitly be accepted as characters on site, it should be noted and acknowledged that they would undergo a lot more scrutiny than their fellows to ensure they are being played both respectfully and true to the lore of the site; as such, playing them is entierly likely to be depressing rather than enjoyable or liberating - simply because this setting isn't designed for such characters.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Administrator of your choice, who will be happy to discuss it with you.
