Ista Isle is amused by the weaklings of Benden, but at least their heat is dry. Benden is muggy and riddled with heavy thunderstorms and downpours.

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

blue
Height:
6'3"
Hair Colour:
light brown
Build:
Lanky/swimmer’s build
General Description:
Tall and thin, his facial features are unusual but he’s handsome in his own way. He has pale blue eyes with little bits of gold and orange in them when he stands in full light. His hair is a mass of curly brown with gold highlights, usually in some state of tousled. He’s always having to brush it back or flip it out of his face and keeps saying he’ll get it cut shorter but never does. He has a very prominent cupid’s bow, pronounced cheekbones, and a very angular look about him in general.
General Dressing Style:
Crisp, neat to a fault, in contrast to his hair. Earth tones with blue/green accents. Maybe a touch of something metallic if the occasion calls for it.

Personality
Likes:
Klah
Vegetables of any kind, especially roots/tubers.
Composing music
Stringed instruments
Strengths:
Patience
Sharp memory
Lovely tenor
Dislikes:
Loud people
Crowds
Dimly lit spaces
People who can’t sing on key
Interruptions
Flaws:
Frequently comes off as arrogant
Forgetful when it comes to people.
Has little skill in the way of social tact
Habits & Mannerisms:
Moves his fingers around as if playing the violin, it’s a wholly unconscious gesture, especially when composing.
Fingers are usually stained of ink, as his compositions are a mess of smudges and notation, though in a very neat hand. It’s just the ink never dries fast enough.
Guards his klah because he needs the whole pitcher in the morning. Complete night owl.
Tends to speak aloud as though he is thinking.
Is fairly ambidextrous, though due to the stiffness in his right hand and wrist, he is now left-handed when it comes to finely detailed work.
General Personality:
He seems standoffish at first but that’s because he’s completely preoccupied by twenty other things that need his attention, none of them are remotely in front of him. Sometimes it’s things like wing strategy or how that one dragon’s bellow was the perfect note for something he’s composing (that no one will get to hear). Whatever the problem is, though, it’s not in front of him so he usually looks a little lost or distracted. Sometimes, his dragon has to redirect him to the present so he can actually interact with people. Usually, it winds up with him being momentarily irritated or snappish before he remembers that whatever he’s working on he can continue to work on in the back of his mind. Once that’s established, he’s quite friendly, you just have to anchor his attention and keep it.

His attention to detail rides over into the physical realm from his thoughts and he’s very sharp with faces but very poor on names, unless they mean something to him. He might never forget a face but he might forget, say, the Headwoman’s name on multiple occasions and have to be reminded. He does forget the names of those close to him, too, but they generally forgive him and are used to it. ‘You, there, in the lovely sweater’ or ‘gold haired chap’ -- are more likely than names. People just tend to bother him and their problems aren’t causing a crisis for him, so he just tends to sink himself into problems that matter or music he’s working on.

He frequently comes off as arrogant. It’s not that he thinks he’s the best (or close to it, at least) at his particular skill, just that he simply [/I]is[/I], and he has no qualms about saying so. When he finally warms up to a person and engages in conversation, he can actually be quite clever, warm, and even silly, at times.

History
Parents:
Xyrina of green Mirwyth (currently of Ista Weyr)
Tr’ell of bronze Nemrith d.715
Siblings:
Four, though only two living. One died on the voyage overseas, another died in an attack by felines.

Xyrellia (Baker/Cook)
Nimuelan (Candidate - Telgar; half sister)
Relationships:
Nothing significant.
Offspring:
A son and a daughter to two different lower cavern women as a result of losing Flights. He's lost track of names and ages, though.
Secrets:
nothing of note.
Known:
Weyrbred originally, set to apprentice early in life. Stolen, and in a case of absolute serendipity, ended up back with his family. Injured hand resulted in losing his ability to play much.

Blue Firelizard named Treble.
Important History:
709: Born to High Reaches greenrider Xyrina and her weyrmate bronzerider Tr’ell, they name their son Zyullaris, the first son after three daughters, with a fourth daughter (Nimuelan) born in mid 715 (half sister due to the one Flight his father’s bronze was outflown, and it is later found that he lost because he was in the early stages of plague and not at full health).
715 (5): Zyullaris picks up his father’s violin and demands he be taught how to play. He takes to it naturally. By the time he’s seven, he's putting together tunes and it's clear he'll have an ear for composition.
715 (6) Nemrith dies of plague. Tr’ell joins him immediately after, as Xyrina and Mirwyth take him between.
716 (7): With his already apparent natural talent, paired with the sizable family that will already be traveling, it is decided that young Zy will be left at his aunt and uncle’s cothold near Harper Hall to become the Harper he should be, while the rest of the family are among the first to depart to the South.
720 (11): Zy’s little tunes take root in the mind of a visiting Master Harper, who happens to be longtime family friend of Zy’s uncle. Zy's talents in both violin and composition are nurtured whenever the Master visits, as the man enjoys humoring the child with short, easy lessons.
721 (12): Officially becomes an Apprentice Harper, producing very good work, especially for someone so young.
727 (18): Officially tapped as Jr. Journeyman. Specializes in Violin, Composition. Developed a nice tenor for singing after his voice changed.
730 (21): Stolen by Katilan Searchriders and is surprised to be reunited with his mother and remaining sisters, Xyrellia and Nimuelan.
734 (24): 01.01.734 Impresses brown Rekorth. Now known as Xy’ris. within the first few months after Impressing, he Obtains a blue firelizard egg at the insistence of his dragon. Impresses blue Treble. Landslide at Katila Weyr! He and young Rekorth rescue Nimuelan from certain death. His right wrist was badly broken during his half-sister’s rescue, and infection set into the open wound it created, as well. While his hand was mercifully spared, despite the healers’ thoughts that it wouldn’t be, it never quite healed the same, becoming stiff and weak, and the last two fingers lost much of their functionality, (though he’ll never dream of making her feel at fault or to blame). His ring and pinky fingers remain stiff, along with the wrist joint, especially on cold days. While horrified at his losing the ability to play any complicated instruments, and he comes to terms with the fact that while he can’t play violin anymore, he can still ride Rekorth, as well as compose. He attempts to take up pipes instead, and while decent at them, they’re not quite to his liking. With some exercises, his wrist becomes mobile enough for basic strumming on guitar.
736 (26): Rekorth and Zy'ris relocate to Telgar, then Ista Weyr when it opens. Stays in touch with Nimuelan via lots of visits and letters.
738(28): Wildfires at Ista! Runs himself ragged trying to help, is devastated, like the others, at the loss of Peorray and gold Wydrith, particularly as they had Impressed from the same clutch.
742 (30): Relocates back to Telgar to be closer to his sisters.

Weyrlinghood
As a hatchling, Rekorth is massive for his size, with very large feet that indicate he has much growing to do. His coloring is a surprise and is almost a red mottled brown with dappling of lighter shades on his flanks. He is on the fatter side at hatching but will grow into a lean beast in his Weyrlinghood days. His wingspan is much like his feet, oversized and something to grow into.
Rekorth
Adulthood
He quickly grows into his disproportionate frame, becoming a massive, sleek dragon as his coloring shifts to a slightly lighter brown and he becomes more mottled, the reddish tones staying in his feet and muzzle. His head is angular and looks more equine than his peers. As an adult he tops out at thirty feet in length landing his squarely in the middle of the size spectrum for browns. With a wingspan of forty five feet, it gives him plenty of staying power. His hide looks like burnished wood and the light and darks of it reinforce that.
Mindvoice
Smokey, bold, a beautifully musical baritone.
Personality
Rekorth is a beautiful soul; he’s steady, compassionate, and very in the here and now. He has to be, for his rider most certainly isn’t. For a dragon, he has a very strong memory for details his rider just might not register - names, for instance. And if he doesn’t remember a name, well, too bad, you’ve gained yourself a nickname. He’s a very musical dragon, constantly humming or chirping, always ready to harmonize.

He loves to comfort those who are down or in distress and can’t bear to see anyone sad. If he finds someone down (it doesn’t matter what they’re sad about, he’ll be a willing ear), he’s the first in on making them smile or even curling up around them as delicately as he can. He knows he’s still a fairly big dragon and is constantly careful of where he puts himself.
Quirks
Likes:
Firelizards - He loves the little cousins so much that Telgarian firelizards dot his hide with bright colours whenever he’s sunning himself. He loves their company ridiculously much and is always asking his rider to Impress more, though he’s only Impressed the troublesome Treble of yet.
Smelling anything his rider has to eat. If he could fit in the hall properly, he’d be sitting right there snorfing the entire table if he could. He won’t eat it, though, he just likes the smells.
Music -- He harmonizes with anything musical, usually unconsciously, humming to match in an absent sort of way.
Cuddling
Fish - Rekorth loves him some fish and will pop over to Ista with his rider just for a chance to catch something big.

Dislikes: Hunting, particularly Herdbeast, though he does of course feed. He’s very neat and deliberate with his kills, though, avoiding any needless suffering for everyone involved.
Human blood or dragon ichor: if there’s blood involved, Rekorth becomes a bit squeamish as he finds it a bit disturbing. He is oddly fine with his meals though.
