Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.
The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.
Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.
Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.
Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.
Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0
Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.
Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.
The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C
Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring
Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.
The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring
Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring
Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.
The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.
North: End Summer | South: End Winter
Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.
The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.
The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.
The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.
The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!
In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!
October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!
As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!
If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!
Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!
On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!
Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future.
We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!
This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!
This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!
Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!
History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

Singing: She has a voice that can be heard clear across the Weyrbowl. Her pitch is perfect.
Composing: Strings & Ensemble
Klah: She enjoys her klah black with a little tiny bit of sweetener.
Openmindedness: She's always open to new ideas or new solutions and actively seeks out answers from many different sources. If she didn’t keep her eyes and ear open, who was going to bag talent when they saw it?
Passionate/Dedicated: When she commits to something, she does so with everything in her. Beneath her steely demeanour, there's a brightness waiting to be released.
Compositions rejected because she has breasts and must have cheated
Bullies
Sleeping alone: Despite her frostiness and ire, she would rather sleep in a cuddle pile. The more the merrier, really. If she could coax a bunch of people into her bed for a snuggle, she totally would. Especially in the winter months.
People singing off-key: It almost physically hurts her when someone sings off-key near her. It jangles the crap out of her nerves and makes super grumpy.
Most Meat: She prefers fish or wherry and has bovine very, very rarely.
Subborn/Prideful: Deep down, her need to make sure she succeeds in life is rooted in stubborn pride and overachievement as a means of controlling her own life and making her own destiny.
Nosy: Like a good Harper, she keeps her mind and ears open and totally knows all the good gossip.
Obsessive: It's easy for her to get stuck in a loop where she does something over and over until she's satisfied that it's something she can do from muscle memory. It may be something more obsessive-compulsive than not. The more she sinks into her peer group and establishes herself among them, the less she hits this particular flaw.
Perfectionist: Meryem loathes leaving work not done to its highest quality as if knowing something has a flaw in it ruins the entire piece of music, guitar, or what-have you. It just leaves a sour taste in her mouth.
She's intelligent but finds her intelligence strangled, creative and yet the only way she has an outlet is in her work with instruments. No one gets that she feels incredibly stifled 900% of the time. It makes her seem distant and steely.
Really, she just wants acceptance...and she's afraid she'll never get it as a Harper and that she'll be stuck at Apprentice Harper for the rest of her life.
Now at Telgar Weyr, she's much lighter and happier than when she was at the Hall, probably because she sees her father less.
Rank: Master (Voice & Cartography)
She hates him and thinks he's a walking penis because he told her to her face that he wished she was his son instead of his daughter. As far as she's concerned, he can fall off between.
Mother: Mirala
Rank: Weaver (Fort Weyr)
She's a rather meek woman and really never had much contact with Meryem after she was creched. She does send her pretty outfits and has learned that trousers will be better treated than Meryem giving frocks to her peers.
The animosity between them is so palpable it's a wonder no one's been murdered.
She has decided to go to as many Hatchings as she can. Just because.
If you succeed in being Meryem's friend, you're a friend for life.
Do not ever interrupt Meryem when she's staring off into space and writing on a hide.
Born to Yesha and Mirala at Telgar Weyr, no complications. Rather a nice day out as far as autumn was concerned. Nice scarlet trees. Her eldest sister, a Healer, assisted the birth. Meryem was one of those wide-eyed newborns who sharing freaked everyone out by not crying at all. She just stared at everyone and decided food was better than yelling about the sudden event of her birth. She stayed that way, quiet, watchful, almost sneaky.
At six, the dark haired, blue-eyed Meryem was so good at going undetected, she would frequently give the instructing Harper minor heart attacks as she showed up for gitar. It was easy to see she was going to be a fine gitarist and for such a small thing she had a massive voice when she sang and exquisite control. Too bad she wasn’t a boy, her father said way more often than he praised anything she did. Those were the words that made her double down in learning. Yesha, who barely acknowledged the child, lamented her lack of penis. As if just possessing male genitalia somehow made things better!
She could compose!
She could sight read!
She had perfect pitch!
But time and again the instructing Harper doted on the boys (unbeknownst to her on her father's advice) and it infuriated her to no end. At seven, she took her mother’s shears and cut off most of her hair in a fit. Her mother was aghast. Her father was oblivious.
733 & 10:
Meryem wanted the rank she was due, even at ten, but speaking up for it was difficult and there were few people she let in her quiet walls. She clawed and fought for every solo, she used her words and eloquence on paper to appeal to Harper Hall and was not deterred when no word came. Her father was blocking the letters from getting to the right people. The letter writing continued, neatly written, beautiful penmanship, with scores she had composed herself.
Silence from the Hall. Kitchen duties for her gall.
735 & 12-18:
At twelve, against all odds, she was picked by a Harper not as biased as the ones her father always had around. Her apprenticeship at the Hall begins. She studies the same, hard and focused, quietly keeping her head down as she makes music instruments that are vastly superior to her classmates if only because she is so focused on perfection and “beating the boys” that she sacrifices sleep for designs and scrapped projects. She wants her Apprentice rank to become Journeywoman in a way so driven she has considered Standing for clutches if she can’t have what she wants. It’s a feeling that persists to the present day.
Her instruments are nearly flawless with the work she has put into them and are really pieces of art. A drum that looks like a firelizard holding a moon, shaped and pigmented so that if you didn’t know, you might thing it was real. A dragon-headed violin, a guitar painted with excruciating detail with a Flight spiraling up its length. Whatever she puts her mind to she does it with all of herself and with a determination that is almost so intense it’s become cutting.
741&18: Meryem is transferred to Telgar Weyr with as little information as possible, a move by Yesha, who is still embarrassed by how good his daughter is with her hands and forever pissed off that she isn't a man. When a request for a Harper was send it and it happened to be as far away from the hall as possible, he jumped at it. Meryem is actually okay with Telgar, it's far enough away that her father essentially has little control and she thinks it's a breath of fresh air. Cold fresh air but fresh nonetheless.
Near-Perfect Recall - Her memory is almost perfect. She rarely forgets a face, order, or composition and has been playing by ear for ages, though she can sight read and compose.
This helps her with crafting instruments tailored to her customers personalities and likes.
She is very sense oriented, touch, taste, hearing, etc., make her that much better when repairs are needed and she usually makes adjustments that contribute to better overall tone and sound coming from the instrument. She is noted especially for her incredible carved pieces that make the instrument have more presence, character, and improve playability.
She favours stringed instruments but can repair just about anything.
Frustration - She is easily frustrated when it comes to Master/Apprentice work and will prepare beforehand to the point where she gets the least Master contact possible. They have proven that they don't want her to succeed, so feck them in the eye.
She can be difficult to work with until her trust is gained.
