Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

General Description:
Eyes: Light blue, somewhat narrow.

Hair: Light brown hair, kept short. Starting to grey in places.

Height: 6'1"

General Appearance: Jimeridan looks the Lord he is, with the signs of always having proper food and never having to do hard manual labor. He carries himself with the assumption that others will listen to what he has to say and defer to him. He's already fairly tall at 6'1", but he seems taller in many ways due to the confidence with which he stands and his good posture. Jimeridan smiles easily.

He keeps himself well groomed, and his most noticeable facial features are his bright blue eyes and long pointed nose.
General Dressing Style:
He always makes sure to look nice, but isn't overly concerned with his clothing. He has servants trained to choose appropriate clothing for him, as he just can't be bothered. It's important he looks nice and lordly, yes, but why waste the energy when someone else can do choose his outfits with better taste than he?
Ed Burns
Personality
Likes:
His Daughters: Despite really wanting a son, Jimeridan loves his daughters and spoils them rotten. This extends to his younger sisters as well. Just doting on the younger women of his family. Heck, it sometimes even transfers to young women who remind him of family.
Good Alcohol: Jimeridan is something of a snob when it comes to alcohol, especially wine, and always makes sure his household cellar is always well stocked with the best alcohol he can get with his means (which are pretty darn good).
Art: He collects artwork from around Pern and uses it to decorate the Lord's house. This includes paintings, tapestries, and finely carved furniture, if it looks fancy Jimeridan likes it and wants to display it in his home. Since he has the money, he can easily afford whatever art he wants, and is known to act as a patron to favorite artists (buy their work, encourage rich friends to buy their work, commission things, etc).
Strengths:
Delegation: Jimeridan is great at figuring out who the best person for a job is and assigning them to that job.
Cooperative: When it doesn't hurt him or Nabol, Jimeridan has no issues with cooperation or compromise to further a larger goal.
Relaxed: He is fairly calm and even keeled for a Lord Holder, and it takes a lot to get him truly angry or riled up.
Dislikes:
A Minor Holder: There's some minor holder under Nabol that just really gets on Jimeridan's nerves and he will go out of his way to thwart this man just because he can.
Gossip: Jimeridan knows the importance of information, but rumor and gossip just seems so unnecessary to him. Makes it more effort to figure out what the truth is, and most gossip is just mean spirited and he's not about that.
Infighting in Families: As a highly family-oriented man, Jimeridan takes great offense to families who are constantly in strife with each other. He thinks that everyone should accept their role in the family and fulfill it, as well as love the rest of the family unconditionally. He's real, real lucky that his brothers are all rather uninterested in being Lord Holder and given him little trouble, allowing him to believe his family is one big, happy unit with no internal issues like other noble families.
Flaws:
Rich: He just isn't able to truly comprehend what life is like for people who are not family to a Lord Holder. It's not out of malice, it's just ignorance. He is the embodiment of this gif.
[Image: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e3/1b/00/...d819fc.gif]
Stubborn: He is a reasonable man, and therefore right most of the time, so people should just go along with what he wants, darn it.
Possessive of Power: Jimeridan is not one to kill for his own ambition, but he's also not going to let go of power easily. He deserves it, it's his by right, and he will keep it.
Habits & Mannerisms:
He doodles a lot. Sometimes on important documents. Probably on personal letters too.
General Personality:
Jimeridan is a good natured man. He takes his position as Lord of Nabol seriously, but is fairly relaxed overall. Family is one of the most important things to him, a value imparted to him by his father. His daughters are the light of his life, and he's sometimes given a bit of a side-eye by other lords for how much leniency he gives them (for example, letting some of them reach their 20s unmarried). Jimeridan enjoys the luxury his lifestyle allows, and takes full advantage of it, indulging in fine wines, art, and decadent celebrations.

As a lord, Jimeridan is generally fair. He does care about the wellbeing of his people, but more along the lines of 'if famine strikes, I will make sure the people are fed' than 'I should eradicate poverty.' Most of the time Jimeridan knows his own limitations and is perfectly happy to let other people take the lead on projects to make sure they turn out the best way possible - as long as it's very clear that it was his idea and he's ultimately in charge and any success the person he puts in charge of the project has is because he chose to give that person the task.

Important History:
687 AL & Birth: Jimeridan is born the first living child of Lord Janderian and his wife, Mirda.
689 & 2 Turns: His first sibling, a sister named Jasah, is born. Lord Janderian is pleased he has a second living child.
691 AL & 4 Turns: Another sister, Mandara, is born
693 AL & 6 Turns: Mirda finally gives birth to another son, Jimeridan's first brother.
695 AL & 8 Turns: Dondarian, a second brother, is born.
696 AL & 9 Turns: Dondarian dies of a summer illness that sweeps through the Hold. He is one of the few fatalities, too young to fight it properly. It is this event that leads to Jimeridan learning how important it is for Lord Holders to have lots of children.
697 AL & 10 Turns: His sister Mandara dies tripping down stairs. The terrible accident greatly upsets his mother, and only further reinforces the lesson of the year before.
701 AL & 14 Turns: Mirda has another stillborn child, a son. Jimeridan is old enough to understand the tragedy of it.
703 AL & 16 Turns: Jimeridan becomes an adult in the eyes of Pern, and his father gives him more responsibilities and brings him around with him to learn more actively.
704 AL & 17 Turns: Jindara is born, another sister. Jimeridan learns he really likes being a big brother. He was too close in age to Jasah to really feel like her big brother, but he does with the new sister.
705 AL & 18 Turns: His world is turned upside down when his mother dies. The healer believes something went wrong with her last pregnancy but there were no external signs of the problem. Jimeridan is devastated, but aware of his adult status and hides most of it away, paying even closer attention to working with his father and learning how to be a good Lord Holder.
707 AL & 20 Turns: Lord Janderian marries again, a women named Savilla. Jimeridan is mildly weirded out by the fact his father's new wife is two months younger than him, but understands the logic. He gets along well enough with her, as she respects his deceased mother and her children.
712 AL & 24 Turns: A match is made and Jimeridan is betrothed to one of the daughters of Lord Igen, who is almost 16.
713 AL & 25 Turns: Jimeridan and Ithola marry.
714 AL & 26 Turns: His first child, a daughter named Jorra, is born.
715 AL & 27 Turns: A second daughter, Ithara, is born.
718 AL & 30 Turns: Another daughter, Thorma, is born.
720 AL & 32 Turns: A child, another daughter, is born still. Jimeridan and Ithola mourn their first lost child.
721 AL & 34 Turns: Itherida is born.
722 AL & 35 Turns: Jira is born.
725 AL & 37 Turns: Ithola miscarries her pregnancy.
728 AL & 40 Turns: Daughter Marielle is born.
731 AL & 44 Turns: Lord Janderian dies and Jimeridan becomes the Lord of Nabol. Later in the turn, Ithola gives birth to another stillborn daughter.
732 AL & 45 Turns: Ithola dies from some sort of fading illness. Jimeridan mourns, but is in some ways relieved, because he now has to worry even more about producing an heir and Ithola was only giving him daughters.
734 AL & 47 Turns: Jimeridan marries Haleah.
735 AL & 48 Turns: Haleah gives birth to her first child, a daughter (Jala). Jimeridan is mildly dismayed, but Haleah is young still.
737 AL & 50 Turns: Another daughter, Himerah, is born.
739 AL & 52 Turns: Haleah is currently pregnant again, and Jimeridan really hopes this one is a son. His brother Maveridan is his heir, but Maveridan is 46 and Jimeridan would prefer a younger heir. Of his remaining brothers, he considers Veridian and Rinderian unsuitable, and Jazarin is wholly uninterested (though he would become heir if anything happened to Maveridan).
Month 11 - Hurrah, a son is born!

Education
Details:
As the eldest son of a Lord Holder, Jimeridan was taught from childhood how to run a Hold, with the expectation he would inherit. He did well enough in his lessons; he's not unintelligent by any means, but not exactly an academic mind. He understands everything well enough to check someone else's work, and he's excellent at delegating and choosing the right person for the job.
