Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed. Ista Boundaries: Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky. Telgar Boundaries: Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed. Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common. Ista Boundaries: Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat. Telgar Boundaries: Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly. Ista Boundaries: Season, Low to High Telgar Boundaries: Season, Low to High [[Update slowly in progress because ThistleProse is a slackarse :3 lmao ]] North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn −1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0 Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter. Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though. The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either. The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends. North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter 17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all. Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans. North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable. The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora. North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy. North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright. The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds. North: End Summer | South: End Winter Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength. The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening. The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought. North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night. The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr. The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage. |

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship... Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not! <3 I've re-activated the Christmas Layout, but it hasn't been quite kept up to date over hte past 12 months, so please be aware the might be some buggies skittering about! <3 This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike! In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you! October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future. We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year! This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them! This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy! Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch! History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday. We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes! If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner. |

Eyes: Dark brown eyes, rimmed with long lashes. Her eyebrows are thin with a pronounced arch.
Hair: Wavy black hair. Worn tied back when she is working, but prefers having it loose.
Height: 5'2"
General Appearance: She has freckles from lots of time out in the sun, especially as she aged. She used to be quick to smile, and she has the remnants of smile lines on her face.
Even when she was most out of it, she continued to work to serve her Weyr, and maintained the build to do so.
Dressing Style: Prior to losing Jormath, Wenon was always immaculate. She took great care in her clothing, and had a talent for picking outfits that were both practical and beautiful. After Jormath's death her interest in clothing decreased and she would wear whatever she had with little thought put into how it looked. Since returning North, she has begun picking outfits again, though not everyday.

General Character Traits: Though not ambitious for the sake of gaining prestige, Wenon has always considered herself more capable than most people, and as such has worked hard to gain the ability to shape things as she thinks they should be. Being Weyrwoman suited her nicely, and allowed her to be capable and in charge.
After the death of her dragon, she has become more subdued, in general. Sometimes her temper flares up, but usually she lacks the intensity she once had. The farther away Jormath's death becomes, the more like her old self Wenon becomes. She believes strongly that the dragons and their riders are necessary to Pern's survival, and will work tirelessly to preserve them.
Habits/Mannerisms: Her inner thoughts often sound like Jormath, and though she knows it is her own brain making it up, she still has conversations with 'Jormath' to help her process.
Opinions:
Threadfall Theory: It will come and the dragonriders must be ready.
Stealing/Kidnapping: Distasteful, but the dragons must be strong for Pern, so it was necessary.
Firelizards: She wanted nothing to do with them.
Return North: With everything being more familiar, she feels more in control of her life.
Likes:
G'nen: Her son has been her tether since Jormath (as well as K'tios and Teglioth) died, and she would do most anything for him.
Music: She finds music and songs calming, and always makes an effort to listen when Harpers perform, or dragonriders who have any playing talent.
Promising goldriders: Wenon believes that it is goldriders who are most important to preserving the dragonriders, and, despite the pain being around goldriders causes her, she wants to ensure that they are prepared and capable of restoring and improving the state of the dragonriders.
Dislikes:
Interacting with dragons: The only dragon she can stand to be around for any significant period of time is Yanth, due to the necessity of knowing him well while she and G'nen were surviving alone on the Southern Continent. She is willing to ride any dragon, but she strongly prefers going places on Yanth if her son is available.
Insubordination: People not following her requests or orders irks her immensely, and those who choose to ignore her will get a strong tongue lashing.
Pity: Though she knows how dragonriders feel about dragonless people, she hates their pity. How dare they pity her? She lives this, by her own choice, and as deep as the loss of Jormath hurts, she made her choices.
Strengths:
Driven: If anything stands in her way, she will plow right through it, or, if that's not an option, will work tirelessly from the sidelines to make it happen. Her ability to focus on a goal and follow through is one of the reasons she has survived so long without Jormath.
Selfless: Wenon tends to put the wellbeing of others above her own wellbeing or happiness. This has lead to lots of sleepless nights throughout her life as she tries to fix everyone's problems.
Able to see the Big Picture: Though she cares about others, Wenon is capable of making choices for the benefit of everyone and/or the future, even if it inconveniences some people or is inconvenient in the present.
Flaws:
Abrupt: Wenon had a habit of interrupting people when she didn't want to listen to them. If she felt someone was wasting her time, she would make that clear and do her best to end the interaction.
Inflexible: While her ability to create goals and see them out generally works in her favor, Wenon is not overly tolerant of others changing her plans. The plans are hers and they will be completed as she wants them done, no exceptions, even if someone has another way of doing things.
Nosy: She wanted to stay on top of everything, even before she became Weyrwoman. As a result, she does her utmost to know everything, even if it involves snooping or subtly blackmailing others.
History
Father: W'lel of blue Choreth, b.649 AL, d.685 AL
Rank: Bluerider
Mother: Silenan, b.654 AL, d.???
Rank: Lower Caverns woman
Siblings: W'lel had a few other children with various Lower Caverns women. Wenon had very little to do with them. She had a younger half-brother on her mother's side, Safisros, who Impressed green Prusorinth as a teen and became S'ros.
Past Lovers/Partners: K'tios of bronze Teglioth (Last Igen Weyrleader)
Wenon and K'tios worked well together, and while they technically had a romantic relationship, it was not typical, and neither would say they were truly in love with the other. Even so, they cared deeply for each other and their partnership, as well as their son.
Current Lovers/Partners: N/A
Children: G'nen of brown Yanth (born Gedrenen)
Background Story:
678 AL & Birth: Wenon is born to W'lel of blue Choreth and Silenan, a Lower Caverns woman. The two were not in an established relationship, and after Wenon's birth only interacted on occasion for the benefit of their daughter.
685 AL & 7 Turns: W'lel dies in a training exercise gone wrong. It doesn't impact Wenon's life all too much.
686 AL & 8 Turns: Her mother Silenan has a second child, Wenon's younger half-brother Safisros. Silenan was close-lipped about Safisros' father, though Wenon thinks it was a bronzerider.
690 AL & 12 Turns: She develops a crush on the Weyr's resident Harper, and goes to listen to him whenever she can. This has the surprising result of giving her an appreciation for music, that stayed with her far longer than her interest in the Harper.
696 AL & 17 Turns: Wenon Stood for the first time, and Impressed gold Jormath.
670 AL & 21 Turns: Jormath Rises for the first time and is caught by Teglioth, a young bronze. Teglioth continues to Catch Jormath every time she Rises.
701 AL & 23 Turns: Her son Gedrenen is born, the result of one of Jormath and Teglioth's Flights. A few months later, Safisros Impresses green Prusorinth at High Reaches.
703 AL & 25 Turns: Weyrwoman Dellare of gold Heloth retires when Heloth fails to Rise. Jormath Rises two months later, making Wenon the new Weyrwoman and K'tios the new Weyrleader.
713 AL & 35 Turns: As the son of the Weyrleaders, Gedrenen is allowed to start standing at 12 Turns. He does not Impress that year.
714 AL & 36 Turns: In the third month of the turn Gedrenen Impresses brown Yanth from one of Jormath and Teglioth's clutches. Wenon and K'tios are very proud.
715 AL & 37 Turns: The dragon plague starts, and as Weyrwoman Wenon works tirelessly to keep her Weyr safe. She is the one who advises K'tios to close off the Weyr, one of the first to do so. Unfortunately, nothing they do works and many Igen dragons die, including, at the very end of the turn, her own Jormath. Wenon chooses not to join her dragon between because she feels her Weyr still needs her, especially G'nen.
716 AL & 38 Turns: Upon hearing of Katila's order that all of High Reaches Weyr escape South, K'tios and Wenon give the same order to Igen. K'tios stays in Igen, for by then Teglioth has fallen ill. G'nen begs his mother to accompany him South with Yanth, and she agrees.
The journey across the ocean is difficult for the small group, as Yanth is barely full grown. Though it hurts her to do so, Wenon shares her memories of Jormath's flying with Yanth to help him make the journey. They manage to find a small, isolated bay where they build their new home. Wenon has days where she cannot get up from bed, to overwhelmed by the loss of Jormath, though she does her best to help her son find food and prolong their survival.
720 AL & 42 Turns: Yanth hears Nirinath's Call, and the three agree to reunite with the other dragonriders. The relief that dragons, especially a gold, still survive helps Wenon decide to rejoin the dragonriders, even though she knows it will be painful to be among (hopefully) that many dragons.
721 AL & 43 Turns: After 5 years, Wenon learns what become of her brother S'ros from his weyrmate, Ah'gre of blue Skaith. He and Prusorinth died 3 turns ago, with S'ros succumbing to a bite from an unknown venomous creature. Her brother's death added another pain to the growing list. Wenon and G'nen invited Ah'gre to live with them, as they were the closest thing he had to family left in the South.
732 AL & 54 Turns: Ah'gre dies of illness, and Skaith goes Between.
734 AL & 56 Turns: Wenon, G'nen, and Yanth survive the Landslide fairly unscathed, as survivors go.
The return North is announced. Wenon strongly approves.
735 AL & 57 Turns: Wenon rides North with G'nen and Yanth, and they move into Telgar.
736 AL & 58 Turns: G'nen and Wenon go with the group repopulating Fort. Wenon is officially asked to act as a mentor for the Weyr's goldriders.
Year & Age:
Education
Education Details: Wenon got the same general education all weyrbrats got, as well as a few additional topics during weyrlinghood taught to goldriders. Due to her job as Weyrwoman, she gained a working proficiency in figuring, reading, and writing beyond the average dragonrider.

General Character Traits: Jormath genuinely enjoyed life. She loved to watch the weyrlings train, she loved to observe her rider and her family, so loved her mate. Though their temperaments may seem at odds, Jormath was similar to Wenon in how seriously she took her role in relation to other dragons and the dragonriders. She could be intense with dragons who acted out.

Outside, Wenon could see several young dragons and their riders by the Weyrling barracks. The riders were oiling their dragons, enjoying the company of their fellow young riders. She sighed, turned away from the sight, and leaned back in the chair she had brought into the dragon ledge of the weyr she had requested. Though the room that was designed to accommodate a dragon brought back memories it hurt to remember, she refused to live in the Lower Caverns. She was still Wenon of gold Jormath, Weyrwoman of Igen, even if Igen was no more and Jormath... Jormath was also no more. Respect for her former position (and her loss, though she preferred to ignore that part of it) had led the new Fort Weyrleader to grant her one of the many open weyrs. It was a smaller one, likely meant for a green and her rider, but it suited Wenon well enough.
A sound that echoed across the Weyr returned her focus to the young riders. Some sort of fuss had broken out, and she could see dragons flexing their wings, and some of the riders throwing their oil rags at each other. Wenon shook her head.
Look how happy they are. The voice in her head that sounded like her beloved gold said. They can finally be young and happy.
Dragonriders aren't meant to be young and happy, love. She responded, knowing full well she was responding to her own brain constructing sentences based on memories of her dragon. We train, we survive, and we are ready.
She could hear the echo of Jormath's tinkling laugh, as the memory replied. That does not mean you do not deserve it.
"Perhaps," Wenon said quietly, slowly standing from her chair to return to the inner room of the weyr, leaving the riders and dragons to their mirth. "Perhaps."
