Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed. Ista Boundaries: Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky. Telgar Boundaries: Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed. Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common. Ista Boundaries: Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat. Telgar Boundaries: Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly. Ista Boundaries: Season, Low to High Telgar Boundaries: Season, Low to High [[Update slowly in progress because ThistleProse is a slackarse :3 lmao ]] North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn −1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0 Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter. Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though. The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either. The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends. North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter 17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all. Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans. North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable. The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora. North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy. North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright. The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds. North: End Summer | South: End Winter Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength. The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening. The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought. North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night. The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr. The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage. |

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship... Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not! <3 I've re-activated the Christmas Layout, but it hasn't been quite kept up to date over hte past 12 months, so please be aware the might be some buggies skittering about! <3 This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike! In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you! October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future. We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year! This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them! This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy! Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch! History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday. We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes! If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner. |

Eyes: Almond shaped and clear bright brown.
Hair: Black with a bit of wave to it that is kept long, roughly midway down her back. She wears it down as much as she has it pulled back.
Height: 5’7
General Appearance: Despite her lean form, she still has curves brought on from motherhood. Her frame also poses as a good optical illusion as she has excellent upper body strength from turns of working in the tavern. A bright smile is often on her face.
Dressing Style: Quilriana loves flowing girly dresses that are cinched at the waist which show off just enough of her curves without being too bold.

General Character Traits: Despite being a rather proper lady by all intents and purposes, Quilriana has learned to let down her hair a bit since becoming a widower. She knows the likelihood of a man wanting her for a wife at her current stage in life is low and she has embraced that. She has her children to think about and her focus now is to provide for them and help her aging father with the family business, though her brother is the one to inherit.
While she does spend a lot of time working or with her kids, Quilriana still knows how to take some time for herself and enjoys having fun in whatever means it comes in.
She doesn’t expect much out of people though that’s hardly to say she thinks little of them. She simply takes what they offer and doesn’t hold out for anything more than that. There isn’t reason to. There’s only so much time in life and it shouldn’t be wasted in daydreams and hopes. After what life has already tossed her way, she’s decided to take it all in stride and enjoy.
Habits/Mannerisms: Twirls strands of hair around her fingers while thinking or needs something for idle hands to fidget with. Sometimes she’ll even do little braids.
Opinions:
Threadfall Theory: Never put too much thought into it since it happened before her time.
Stealing/Kidnapping: Horrible! There was likely a good reason for it but there had to be a better way as well.
Firelizards: They’re cute but possibly a lot of work like any pet.
Return North: She’s fascinated by dragons but a bit hesitant as well considering her experience with horses — dragons are a lot bigger!

It’s so peaceful! Working at a tavern and having two young children don’t leave Quilriana with a lot of quiet time or alone time so she enjoys a walk around the town when everyone else has gone to bed.Opinions:

Strategy Games:
It doesn’t mean she’s all that good at them or really has anyone who will play against her or take her seriously as a partner, but Quilriana likes the challenge of the game.Baths:
Another time where she can usually have a few minutes to herself as she soaks in the hot water and unwinds.
Dislikes:
Sleeping Alone:
Before she was married, Quilriana liked having room to move around but since being married, she’s learned to enjoy the presence of another person beside her and cuddling when she can. It’s something that is now missed and even the smallest of beds seems too large. Comments About her Kids:
She might not look it, but Quilriana can be a fierce mother bear. Any ill-spoken word about them in her hearing will result in her standing up to the person regardless of age or gender.Dislike 3:
Strengths:
Trustworthy:
Growing up and working in a tavern has left her with quite a few people spilling their secrets and life stories to her. She definitely knows how to keep her mouth closed, having learned doing otherwise can be bad for business and reputations.Empathetic:
Again, thanks to her upbringing, Quilriana is good at understanding another’s feelings and it shows in her expressions as well.Vibrant:
Despite the curveballs that life has tossed her way, Quilriana keeps an upbeat view on everything and enjoys smiling.
Flaws:
Timid:
When she first meets someone new, when that someone shows any level of interest in her, she can be a bit shy.Superficial:
While she does try to avoid judging a book by its cover, Quilriana is still drawn in towards good-looking men or a pretty dress above most anything else.Tolerant Smiles:
Despite her ability to keep secrets and show interest in what everyone says, there are some people she simply can’t stand and it shows in the smile she wears that is barely tolerant, as if she’s only humouring them.Personal History
