Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.
The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.
Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.
Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.
Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.
Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0
Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.
Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.
The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C
Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring
Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.
The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring
Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring
Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.
The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.
North: End Summer | South: End Winter
Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.
The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.
The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.
The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.
The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!
In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!
October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!
As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!
If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!
Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!
On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!
Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].
As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future.
We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!
This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!
This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!
Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!
History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

Hair: A light shade of brown, his hair wouldn’t be all that remarkable if it wasn’t for the wavy curl that takes over his slightly scruffy length.
Given his rather unhealthy lifestyle in recent turns, M’ris had put on extra weight that didn’t come from muscle mass. Once he started to straighten out his life again, his physique, while still a bit softer than some others, has regained some of its tone and strength. He has defined arms and legs with his abdomen losing the extra padding and slowly coming along to something worth showing off.
Face-wise, M’ris has a rather sculpted jawline that ends in a point rather than the strong jaw most manly men sport. Whether done subconsciously or not, he usually has a few-days-old stumble that gives him a more masculine look than a clean shave does. Thanks to his slender jawline, his large ears seem all the more prominent, making that the main reason he keeps his hair long enough to help camouflage them.

Swimming: It’s a good way to cool off and relax but it can also be used to fool himself into exercising.
The Mystery Notes: He’s actually bordering on being obsessed with them. They’re poorly written but fun is still conveyed and M’ris gets a good laugh out of them. He’s always waiting for the next one to appear and checks the boards regularly.
Adventurous: M’ris is always up for exploring and views new things as a challenge that shouldn’t get in the way.
Charismatic: His easy nature and love of laughing make him popular with most and he’s been known to sway people to his way of thinking more than once with a smile and the right words.
Exercise: Once, he didn’t mind it so much but since falling out of shape and living a lazy life for too long, M’ris hates exercising from sit-ups to push ups to running. Nothing enjoyable comes from it though he does appreciate the body he’s starting to get again.
Food Allergies: Redfruit leaves his face red and blotchy though it isn’t as bad as the way cheese can affect him. Cheese often leaves him with stomach cramps and while it is a common part of meals, M’ris has learned to bypass it.
Impulsive: He doesn’t always stop to think what the consequences are before suddenly doing something.
Detached: Since the death of his mate, M’ris can flirt with the best of them but he never gets attached and there are some that see through the guise and know he’s a bit empty inside when it comes to other people.
Women help him keep the pain of his loss buried and gives him something fun to do now that so much time has passed and he’s been able to move on to some degree. That wasn’t his only coping device, however. Once Katila was established and supplies were being brought back with the secret scouting parties, M’ris took up drinking to the point where he blacked out on more than one occasion. He’d wake with little to no memory of the previous night – or several days if he had been binge drinking. Oftentimes he was a happy drunk that bordered on goofy and annoying. It took a lot of time, patience, and fists to the face to help M’ris find his way back out from the bottom of the bottle. Despite the addiction that started to rule his life, he never fully quit drinking but limits himself to a few drinks on special events, like Hatchings.
The personality that shines when he isn’t drunk or seducing someone into bed is rather personable. He’s not a social butterfly by any stretch of the imagination but he doesn’t seek out the shadows to hide in either. He is often smiles and friendly with a hint of silliness but just as easily, he can silently agree and follow orders from his superiors or be miserable towards someone that irritates him.
Given his rank of bronzerider, M’ris has always believed he is among the top of the food chain and arrogance shines through. He has respect for the Weyrleader and his Wingleader but he also expects everyone else to treat him with reverence as well. The current trend that Katila fell into of brownriders working above their station and taking the positions meant for bronzeriders rubbed him the wrong way and he tried, usually in vain, to rally support against the upstarts and troublemakers – notably, of course, brownrider S’kef.

No one is aware of his two oldest daughters. He left them in the North when he went into exile. Upon the return North, he saw one of them in a tavern but he didn't approach her. He's never made contact since that close call.
702 & 10: He’s deemed more than old enough to begin seriously helping around the farm and Marnaris gains a new respect for his father and the discipline that is needed for maintaining such a scheduled routine. He’s still not overly fond of it, though.
705 & 13: A Searchrider notices him on a trip to the market with his family. Given his parents could barely afford to send the eldest son to a Hall and nothing truly remarkable awaited him outside a marriage to a bland girl as he got older, Marnaris eagerly accepts the offer to Stand.
706 & 14: His rather girly eyes and slightly longer than the current trend hairstyle leaves him open to ridicule from older Weyrbrats and Weyrlings, especially when he doesn’t Impress for the first several Hatchings he Stands for.
707 & 15: Impresses to Mosiath, the first bronze of the clutch.
709 & 17: Graduation! He takes up the name M’ris, much to the delight of some of the other riders who call him Missy and other girly names but now that he’s a full-fledged bronzerider, M’ris flaunts his rank when needed to get his way.
710 & 18: Wins his first gold flight early in the turn and proudly watches the Hatching his wonderful dragon sired.
711 & 19: M’ris is horrified that Mosiath chased a green. He’s proud the dragon won another flight but the rider was male and M’ris wasn’t thrilled with waking beside a man despite having finally accepted it as natural – for other people to indulge in.
712 & 20: Wins the maiden flight of a different gold, one that Mosiath takes a strong interest in. M’ris himself doesn’t find the goldrider all that bad either and takes up a relationship with her later in the turn.
713 & 21: His first child with Sarendall is born.
714 & 22: Having managed to win all of Sarendall’s flights, the Weyr considers them mated and M’ris finds himself developing stronger than expected feelings for the woman that leaves him okay with being mated.
715 & 25: His second child with Sarendall is born.
716 & 24: The plague is working its way through the dragon population and the order is given to flee South in order to save as many dragons as possible. The suggestion to split up is ignored by M’ris who refuses to let Sarendall out of his sight and they make the trip together, setting up their own little camp when they finally reach land. Their two young children are left with their favourite crèche worker who stayed in the North.
717-718 & 25-26: While it was nothing to brag about, their quaint hut is destroyed in a storm one night, forcing them to start over yet again. Other than that set back, M’ris doesn’t mind too much the life spent with his mate, though the longing for a few more friends and music hits at times.
719 & 27: At the end of the turn, Sarendall falls ill and with the lack of supplies and knowledge, she dies with Karith taking them between. This event breaks M’ris to the point where he was suicidal, begging Mosiath to take him to his mate and telling him to stop saving him from the ocen’s embrace. Eventually the bond outweighed the grief and M’ris managed to keep himself alive for his dragon’s sake.
720 & 28: The call to reunite is heard but M’ris hesitates. Mosiath encourages him it’s better to move on then to continue staying in the place that holds the good and bad memories and they finally join up with the survivors.
721-726 & 29-34: Alcohol, as bad as the Katilan attempts are, becomes of his favourite thing and M’ris spends turns lost in its comforting embrace to assist him in forgetting the pain and horrors of exile. Regardless of hour, he’s likely drunk or hungover from days of binge drinking. Luckily he’s not a violent drunk but his wandering hands and lewd comments to the wrong women earn him smacks by gentle hands or punches by heavy fists. That doesn’t mean he’s never successful and finds himself in different beds regularly.
727 & 35: Nirinath rising pleases Mosiath but M’ris’ foggy mind hinders the win. The event, however, assists in cleaning M’ris up and he eases up on the drinking. New eggs after so long is a sign of hope to him and he finally realises that Sarendall wouldn’t like or forgive him for his sorry state.
728-731 & 36-39: Drinking becomes something to be done when celebrating or mourning and now that he’s more sober than not, M’ris begins making friends in better circles and applying himself more to assisting others and the Weyr.
731 & 39: Drunk and horny at the World Above feast, M’ris meant to find a female partner but ended up with brownrider K’tir. Shocked that he had enjoyed himself, M’ris finds himself taking K’tir up on his offer to stop by again sometime a half a month later. While women are still preferred, the thrill of sneaking around to meet with the brownrider that can keep a secret adds to the desire to continue meeting.
732 & 40: The return of Firelizards puts M’ris a bit on edge and he watches them closely until it is shown they aren’t about to start the second plague. The attempt on D’ren’s life isn’t taken well. Even if there were flaws in the man’s leadership, he was still their leader and a bronzerider. To find out another bronzerider was responsible disgusts M’ris and he doesn’t mourn T’shiro after the execution. He does, however, quietly voice his displeasure at seeing a brownrider step up.
733 & 41: The announcement S’kef makes that women riders are no longer allowed honorifics makes sense to M’ris and is one of the few things he so far agrees on with the brownrider. Having once been mated to a gold, he always felt keeping their full name was its own honour and girls on fighting dragons don’t need to pretend they’re one of the boys by taking on an honorific.
734 & 42: The landslide brings back horrible memories and M’ris falls back into the bottle for quite some time. Aradissicath’s clutch hatching without issue helps to sober him up again as he sees hope isn’t entirely lost just yet.
735 & 43: Continues to assist in setting up Telgar Weyr, finding pleasure with some of his affairs.
[736 & 44: Happily takes the position of Ista Weyrleader when he's told he can pick the goldrider to 'lead' with him. Ameris is chosen without hesitation has their dragons have taken a fondness for each other and M'ris is starting to feel the same way for the woman.
738 & 46: Early in the turn, Ameris gives birth to their daughter, Eris.
739 & 47: Continuing the trend of everything bad happens in Ista, M'ris has to deal with deaths on the sands during a Hatching which causes Igen to no longer allow Searching in their region. The drought has M'ris rationing food and carefully managing their supplies. The fires happening soon after leave M'ris exhausted but proud of not only his Weyr but all of them coming together to help. There were casualties and he spends a lot of nights thinking about those lost and if he's at fault for bad planning. Ameris and his kids are the only reason he doesn't start drinking again.
740 & 47: With the population growing steadily, it's only a matter of time before another Weyr needs to be opened. A meeting of the leaders in month 9 decides it will be Benden and that he and Ameris will lead the preparations and the new Weyr while Casa and J'zaq take over Ista. M'ris is not happy with this plan but finally relents. He's convinced Casa will screw up everything he's done for Ista but it won't be his problem for much longer and a change of scenery and getting away from bad memories is needed.
741 & 48: The start of the year is spent getting Benden Weyr ready to move to. At the end of month 4, it's finally move in time!

That isn’t to say he’s entirely selfless, however. He is still bonded to M’ris and the man’s arrogance has rubbed off some over the years. Mosiath can use his station to his benefit when needed but rarely looks down upon others without an extremely good reason.
Likes:
Playing I-Spy: Mosiath doesn’t care if it seems childish, he simply loves observing everything around him and playing the game with others to see if they are as observant. He’s taken to playing with the newly hatched since they’re so energetic and curious.
Peering Over Shoulders: He’s a curious dragon and sometimes waiting to be let in on the story and news isn’t good enough and he peeks over shoulders and heads to see what’s going on
Dislikes:
Being Painted: M’ris saw children painting Grith once and had the idea to try out his new hobby on Mosiath. It didn’t go over well. The typically kind and docile dragon will usually vanish when anyone comes too close with paint in hand.
Strengths:
Diplomatic: Mosiath is rather skilled in playing the middle ground and helping both sides come to an understanding. He’s rather impartial.
Sympathetic: Not one to let someone suffer alone, Mosiath will curl up beside someone and be their shoulder to cry on as he listens to issues.
Practical: Countering M’ris’ impulsiveness, Mosiath is a thinker and doesn’t jump head long into trouble.
Flaws:
Arrogant: He might come across as a nice guy but he thinks rather highly of himself.
Gullible: When his bleeding heart is stronger than his arrogance, Mosiath can fall for mind games and be taken advantage of.
