Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed. Ista Boundaries: Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky. Telgar Boundaries: Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed. Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common. Ista Boundaries: Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat. Telgar Boundaries: Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly. Ista Boundaries: Season, Low to High Telgar Boundaries: Season, Low to High [[Update slowly in progress because ThistleProse is a slackarse :3 lmao ]] North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn −1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0 Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter. Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though. The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either. The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends. North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter 17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all. North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable. The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora. North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy. North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright. The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds. North: End Summer | South: End Winter Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength. The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening. The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought. North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night. The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr. The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage. |

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not! <3 I've re-activated the Christmas Layout, but it hasn't been quite kept up to date over hte past 12 months, so please be aware the might be some buggies skittering about! <3 This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike! In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you! October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future. We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year! This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them! This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy! Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch! History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday. We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes! If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner. |

Eyes: Versatile brown eyes that darken and harden when angry or can be a warm rich chocolate brown when playful or flirty.
Hair: Extremely light brown that some would argue as being dirty blonde. Gabrin keeps it cut short since that is not only easier but his hair is curly and keeping it short keeps the curls at bay.
Height: 6’0
General Appearance: Gabrin’s height comes mostly due to his legs. His long and slender form appears even more that way thanks to the limbs that keep on going. Most prefer to see a woman with such a feature, especially one that likes to show a little skin to entice, and Gabrin was teased when he was younger due to his long and scrawny legs but he likes them. In his opinion, they’re all the better to wrap around a lover.
His build is slight, with only the barest hint of muscle definition on display when his shirt if removed. He doesn’t like or really believe in menial labour (that’s what servants and peasants are for!) so any muscle he can lay claim to is from sports or running around the Hold for one reason or another.
His face is very angular with his square jaw and defining cheek bones. It’s possibly counted as the most masculine physical feature he possesses, especially considering his perfectly shaped and kissable lips that border on the type better found on a woman. The fact that he can grow a bit of stumble evenly enough to count as done intentionally helps keep him safe from too many insults from the burlier men lurking around his usual stomping grounds.
Dressing Style: Gabrin knows how to dress to impress when he has to thanks to growing up in Holds that hosted parties and the way he was paraded around. He cleans up well with suits tailored to his body in the latest colour and style trends. Otherwise, while his clothing is still all custom-made, Gabrin’s everyday attire is casual with typically only one layer of a form a fitting shirt. When he is in an exceptionally lazy mood, one of his baggier shirts is tossed on and left untucked.

General Character Traits: Gabrin is, in short, a playful man that loves getting into mischief and seeing what he can get away with.
He comes across as fun-loving and easy-going to most people but that’s just part of the rouse. Gabrin is an actor that puts on a show for everyone, allowing them to see what he wants them to see. He enjoys messing with minds and hardly takes anything seriously; unless it directly affects him in some way. So long as he’s entertained, Gabrin’s not concerned with the outcome of his actions. On the flip side, he doesn’t like being on the receiving end of pranks or mind games and finds them to be rather foolish since revenge is always so easily tended to.
His public persona is sweet and kind with a sense of humour. He’s a guy that likes to have fun, go on adventures, and get into mischief with his friends. While that’s not entirely untrue, his usual tastes run a bit deeper and darker than the gentile folk he was raised around can handle. Gabrin will easily make someone’s life a living nightmare and do his best to never be caught at it, acting just as shocked and upset as anyone else when he hears of the horrible incidents the poor lad suffered through.
He’s not a complete saint, however, as he does love to wine and romance any woman and man whether single or not. His wife’s bed is visited only when a husband’s duty calls but Gabrin is often elsewhere, enjoying his time more freely with serving staff or the visiting lord’s eligible sons and daughters. There are also a small handful of people that know how devious and calculating he can be but Gabrin keeps them close and keeps an even closer eye on them. It’s hard to say if he trusts them completely but they are usually accomplices in some way to activities.
All that said, he still has an ego and can’t help but brag when something especially wonderful goes his way. He is, after all, a Lord Holder’s son and even if he’s only the third son, he’s still high born and in line for a title so his status sometimes goes to his head and he forgets his games, showing that he is above most everyone else.
Habits/Mannerisms: Gabrin will often roll his eyes behind the speaker’s back as a way to see if his friend that can see him will laugh. A foot will often be found propped up on another chair or the table when Gabrin is lounging comfortably somewhere.
Opinions:
Threadfall Theory: “What do I care? I live in a Hold with sturdy walls and a roof and I’m not a farmer. It doesn’t concern me one way or the other.”
Stealing/Kidnapping: When the rumours started of missing Crafters, Gabrin believed them to be dead or simply runaways. Since it continued for some time and then stopped abruptly, he thinks there’s something more but only enjoys the rumours and conspiracies without a solid opinion. His favourite, however, is the one about Holders stealing and selling the missing people into slavery.
Firelizards: He doesn’t really care one way or the other.
Return North: “Cool. They do make travelling so much easier and quicker! Kind of a dick move vanishing for so long like they did but I’m sure we can come to beneficial mutual understandings.”

Likes:
[div class="NORTHERNNRspinelists"]Deception:
Gabrin has fun pretending he’s something he’s not whether it be straight, a loyal husband, or sweet. There’s something enjoyable about leading people to believe what you want them to see and not what is actually in front of them. On the flip side, however, he hates being deceived and will never forget the slight.[div class="NORTHERNNRspinelists"]Deception:
Anything that starts with ‘fine’:
A fine wine, fine lay, or fine food; it doesn’t matter to Gabrin so long as it’s among the best quality it suits his tastes and he finds it worthy of his time. His Feline:
If it makes Gabrin look a little sweeter and softer, than that’s fine and simply bonus points but Gabrin actually loves his little fluff ball Buttercup and will kick anyone’s ass that is cruel to her.
Dislikes:
Swimming:
Gabrin is not the strongest swimmer and prefers to stay away from large bodies of water. He’ll still put on a good show, strutting around the beach and even going into shallow water but he has no intentions of drowning or showing that he can’t swim no matter who he’s with.Chatty Women:
He wouldn’t necessarily say he had no use for women but he does like the saying ‘women should be seen and not heard.’ Some can chat for hours on end about mundane things and Gabrin simply can’t be bothered to catch a word of it. Let them make clothes, serve him meals, and lay beneath him in a bed but they don’t need to run their mouths endlessly.Virgins:
Gabrin hates virgins and has made it his life goal to personally correct this status of the poor men and women afflicted by it.
Strengths:
Great Sense of Humour:
Gabrin has a great sense of humour. He loves to laugh whether with someone, at their expense, or at a joke. He may contain it at times when he’s playing a certain role for the day but that simply goes along with it since in the end, he’s making fun of someone and teasing them after the fact whether they’re aware or not. Life is short, might as well enjoy it with a laugh!Self-regulation:
Self-regulation comes into play regularly when Gabrin begins a night of drinking. He knows when he’s reached his limit so as not to embarrass himself or get sick and generally knows when he’s had enough or done enough against someone else. Leadership:
Gabrin has natural leadership abilities that make for a confidence man that doesn’t shy away from giving out orders or simply expecting everyone to defer to him.
Flaws:
Lacking Modesty & Humility:
One would not call Gabrin a prude. He can be calculating to avoid major issues but he still takes some unnecessary risks and has no concept of regret; unless it didn’t give him the right outcome. Gabrin lacks in modesty and humility. He will make sure everyone knows when he did something exceptionally well.Status Snob:
Thanks to his rank, Gabrin has troubles in treating everyone fairly. He sees servants as well beneath him and to be used as he sees fit and others of similar rank, while still used as pawns for his game, are treated with a bit more respect.Unforgiving:
Forgiveness is not something Gabrin gives freely. If he believes you slighted him in any way, it’s unlikely you’re ever to be forgiven and go on with life without some sort of punishment.Personal History

Background Story:
710 & Born:
Gabrin is born to Azmarie and Jaebrin, the lord and lady of High Reaches. He is their third child and son.714-719 & 4-9:
Gabrin is schooled by the Hold’s Harper in the basics as well as the High Reaches history.720 & 10:
He is sent to Telgar to be fostered and learn the region’s history and how politics work in other areas.721 & 11:
Within a turn of arriving, Gabrin makes several friends and has most of the residents convinced he’s a charming boy and delegate of High Reaches.722-728 & 12-18:
Gabrin continues with his lessons and sits in on councils. In his free time, he’s off causing mischief and learning his way around women and eventually men.729 & 19:
While walking back to the Hold after a night of drinking in a small pub, Gabrin comes across a young kitten with no siblings or mother in sight. Completely smitten by the little thing rubbing against his leg, Gabrin takes her home, names her Buttercup, and has a cute and cuddly furball for a pet.730 & 20:
Has a wild night with Khoemi, sparking an interest in the older man in the form of a delightful challenge.731 & 21:
Under the pressure from his father, via letters, to do something with his life and continue their line, Gabrin begins courting Tanriel, sister to Khoemi’s wife and a daughter of the Lord Holder. He’s not too interested in her but figures he can easily fake his way through enjoying her company in order to please his father and add in another way to pick on Khoemi.732 & 22:
Marries Tanriel early in the turn back at High Reaches after his family approves of the courtship and by the turn’s end they are parents to their first child, Gabrynia.733 & 23:
Bored, Gabrin announces just before the end of the turn that he’s taking his family and returning to Telgar under the pretences of letting his wife see her family again but he’s looking to see old friends and flings while getting away from his parents.734 & 24:
Gabrin returns to Telgar early in the turn and settles back in easily. He sits in on the dragonrider greeting party and takes on Ekshan as an attendant to further his own games.735 & 25:
Tanriel gives birth to their second child, another girl, at the start of the turn. Dragonriders are beginning to become more commonplace and Gabrin continues to form alliances that suit him while continuing to play with Ekshan.736 & 26:
Tanriel begs Gabrin to try for a son once more though she is gaining in age. He cares not for her safety or even having proper heirs but concedes as is his duty. A son is born near the end of the turn.737 & 27:
Finally screws up with an affair with a peasant woman and gets her pregnant. Not wanting to play her games or risking an unneeded scandal in the court, Gabrin seeks out his cousin J’ver to have the woman dealt with. He doesn’t ask how it was done, only that it was. Sticks to affairs with Ekshan and K’tir, the brownrider Ekshan liked simply for the thrill.Education

Gabrin sat on the blanket spread out on the green grass of an open field, he sipped his glass of wine and admired the beauty of his wife sitting opposite him as she fixed the laces of the shoe of their youngest child. She laughed lightly as she set the boy back to playing with his two older sisters and Gabrin couldn't believe how lucky he was. They had been married six turns and he still couldn't believe how each day was better than the last. They were always laughing and loved each other which he knew was a rarity in their society. People married to keep their reputation and standing strong and to continue their line. Love was merely a bonus if one was lucky enough. He'd have to thank his brother-in-law, Khoemi, for introducing them. Khoemi had been engaged to Tanriel's sister at the time of their meeting when he moved to Telgar and it had been instant love. Gabrin didn't think he could ask for more in life with a beautiful caring wife, three precious children, and a close friend that was now also a brother. Another look at Tanriel and he could see from the look in her eyes as she watched their kids play that she wanted another one. He wouldn't allow it though; Gabtanri's birth nearly killed her and he wouldn't risk her life again. She had given him two daughters and a son, she had provided well for him. Neither one of them was first in line for their father's title so he didn't mind not having the so-called heir and spare by having two sons. He leaned across the spread of light snacks they had packed for their family picnic and stole her lips for a passionate kiss. If only it was one of their private dates without the children, he would have laid her down on the blanket and showed her how much he truly did love her. As it was, words would have to do for now. "I love you, Tanriel." He sat back and held out his glass in a toast, "here's to the rest of our lives together." Gabrin woke up with a gasp and sat up straight, the sheet falling down his naked body. He cupped his face in the palms of his hands and took a deep breath. What the fuck had that been? He wasn't prone to nightmares and felt he rarely even dreamed but that was the most terrifying thing he had ever witnessed. He reached for the glass on the bedside table and withdrew his hand again without the drink. Right, that wasn't the cool water he was hoping for but the remainders of a Bitra wine. That was the last time he drank that swill before bed. There was a shifting beside him and Gabrin looked over to see the brownrider K'tir sleeping with the sheet barely covering his rather appetizing body. This was the reality he was happy with and the fact that he could love his wife and children, even in a dream, was enough to turn his stomach and he didn't think it was the wine causing that. Deciding he needed a distraction from that horrifying scene still trying to play out in his head, Gabrin shook the brownrider awake for another round before he sent the man packing back to his Weyr until the next time he was called for. |
